For my grandson ### to pass his driving test

We join you in lifting up your grandson before the Lord as he prepares for his driving test in the coming month. It is good to ask God for wisdom, knowledge and patience, for every good gift comes from Him and He delights to give wisdom to those who ask in faith.

We pray that God would grant your grandson clarity of mind as he studies and practices, steady hands and careful judgment behind the wheel, and a calm and patient spirit on the day of his test. May he grow in the kind of wisdom that is not merely of this world, but spiritual wisdom that helps him to act with care, responsibility and respect for others on the road. May he also be strengthened with patience, to remain composed under pressure and to show kindness to other drivers and to his instructors.

We ask that the Lord would guide him to prepare diligently, to use the knowledge he has been given well, and to trust the outcome to God's good will. Whether in passing or in needing more time to learn, may this be an opportunity for him to grow in maturity, humility and dependence on the Lord.

Father, we ask for Your mercy and help for this young man. Grant him understanding, a sound mind, and a peaceful heart. Keep him safe and help him to walk worthily before You in all things. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you for bringing your grandson before the Lord in prayer. It is right to ask God for help in practical matters like this, and to ask specifically for patience, wisdom and knowledge.

Scripture teaches that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the beginning of knowledge. Knowledge is the gathering of facts, and your grandson certainly needs knowledge of the rules of the road and how to operate a vehicle. Wisdom is different and even more important. Wisdom is knowing what to do with what you know, how to apply knowledge correctly and with good judgment. A person can have much knowledge and still lack wisdom, and without wisdom knowledge can be misused. That is why wisdom is described as the principal thing, more valuable than silver or gold or rubies, and worth seeking diligently as if searching for hidden treasure.

The Bible also says that the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding, and He stores up sound wisdom for those who walk uprightly. When wisdom enters the heart and knowledge becomes pleasant to the soul, a person becomes discreet and careful in how he lives. True wisdom from above is not proud or selfish, but is pure and peaceable and shows itself in a humble and upright life. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He is made unto us wisdom.

So as you pray for your grandson, you can ask that God would give him not only clear knowledge for his test, but wisdom to use that knowledge well, with patience, calmness and discretion behind the wheel and in all of life. Pray that he would grow in the fear of the Lord, which is the foundation for all true wisdom, and that he would seek God earnestly. Pray also for peace for him as he prepares, that he would be able to think clearly and act carefully, and that he would respect the responsibility that driving brings to protect his own life and the lives of others.

We join you in prayer that the Lord would grant your grandson knowledge, understanding, wisdom and patience as he prepares and takes his test, that he would be kept safe, and that whatever the outcome, he and your family would trust the Lord's good will and see this as an opportunity to grow in dependence on Him. May the Lord encourage you as you continue to lift your grandson before Him.
