Prayer requst for someone who's addicted to overcome his addictions and to find Jesus. Even in his dreams. And general protection to us all

We join with you in lifting up this soul who is bound by addiction and we praise God that you have a heart to intercede for him to find Jesus, for that is exactly where true freedom is found.

Addiction is a form of bondage and the Word tells us that sin can master us when we are apart from Christ, for we read All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything 1 Cor 6:12. Yet we serve a God who is mighty to deliver, and we cling to the promise No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Cor 10:13. We are encouraged that If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed John 8:36, and we know that he who has come to Christ is a new creation, Behold, all things have become new 2 Cor 5:17.

We are also mindful of your request that even his dreams would be touched by the Lord. The mind and heart, even in sleep, belong to God, and He can bring peace where there has been torment and craving. We pray that God would cleanse his thoughts day and night and replace the lies of addiction with the truth of His Word, for God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Tim 1:7. We also lift up your request for general protection over you all, and we rest in the assurance that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1 and that He will give his angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways Psalm 91:11.

We pray together now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear one who is struggling with addiction. Lord, You see the chains that bind him and the battles he fights even in his dreams. We ask that You break those chains by the power of Your Holy Spirit, for where Your Spirit is, there is freedom. Convict him of sin and draw him to repentance and to the saving knowledge of Jesus, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and Jesus Himself said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. Lord, reveal Yourself to him as Savior and Lord, wash him in the blood of Jesus, forgive him and make him new.

We pray that You would guard his mind and his sleep, that You would give him dreams that point him to You and take away nightmares and cravings that come from the enemy. Fill him with Your peace and let him lie down and sleep in peace for You alone make him dwell in safety Psalm 4:8. Give him a hunger for Your Word and lead him to fellowship with believers who will hold him accountable, encourage him and walk with him toward holiness. Help him to flee from temptation and to walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit, for sin will not have dominion over those who are under grace Rom 6:14.

We also ask for Your divine protection over all of us, over those praying and those being prayed for. Cover us with Your hand, keep us from the evil one, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil Matt 6:13. Strengthen us to be steadfast in prayer for one another and to trust that You hear us when we ask according to Your will.

We thank You, Father, that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun and that nothing can separate us from Your love. We trust this life into Your merciful hands and we ask all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our deliverer, amen.

We encourage you to continue to contend in prayer for him daily, to speak the Scriptures over him, and if you have opportunity, to share the gospel plainly with him and invite him to a Bible believing church where he can be discipled and find accountability. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, and we will keep believing with you for his complete deliverance and salvation.

Thank you for caring enough to lift this man to the Lord. We hear how much you want freedom for him and for him to truly meet Jesus, even as he sleeps, and we join you in asking God for protection over all of you.

Loving someone in addiction can feel heavy and helpless. Part of what makes it so hard is that it is rarely just about willpower. It often grows around pain, habit and ways of coping that have taken hold over time, which is why people usually need both God's help and steady, wise support from others to find a new path. Your prayers matter deeply in that.

One gentle next step that often helps is to stay consistent in prayer while also opening a door to real community for him when he is willing. If he is open, you might invite him to worship with you or connect him with a pastor or a Christ centered recovery group where he can be known and supported without shame. If you are walking closely with him, it also helps to talk with a trusted pastor or counselor yourself about healthy ways to love him without carrying it alone.

Father, we bring this man before You and ask that You draw near to him, bring him to know Jesus as Savior, and meet him even in his dreams with Your presence. Bring freedom where there is bondage and guard each of you under Your care. Lead him toward help that will sustain him and give you wisdom and peace as you love him. In Jesus name, amen.

I need that as well, I am praying for that person and myself.

Dear Jesus, please free this person from sin, you know what I struggle with as well Lord, please free us both, amen.

Your request has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace, for the Lord hears the cry of those who seek Him and His ear is not shut to the prayer of the needy.

We are moved by your love for this soul who is held in the bondage of addiction. Such bondage shows us what salvation truly is, a triumphant deliverance not only from the guilt of sin but from the dominion and power of it. We are by nature the bondslaves of iniquity and love the bondage, and four hundred years of slavery could not more crush the spirit of Israel than sin crushes the spirit of a man. He cannot deliver himself. Salvation is of the Lord. He must bring us forth, and blessed be His name, He has found a ransom. His own Son has borne the penalty of our iniquities, and when the Lamb was slain the way of deliverance was opened.

The way of salvation is plain and simple, and we set it before this dear one and before you again. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. It is not to look to self, nor to resolutions, nor to strength of will, but to look unto Christ and be saved, all the ends of the earth. A look does not require a moment, and yet it saves. To believe on Him is to trust in Him, to leave the whole matter of present and eternal salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence, to depend upon Him without fear. This faith is without money and without price, by divine grace alone, and whoever exercises it, though his faith be feeble, is secure beyond hazard.

We pray now for this one for whom you intercede, that the Lord Jesus Christ would reveal Himself as the great well of salvation from which the thirsty soul may joyfully draw living water. We ask that the Lord would break the chains of addiction, that He would grant true repentance and faith, and that He would deliver from the pit. We ask that even in sleep, even in dreams, the Spirit of God would work, making Christ known and drawing the heart to look unto Him. The Lord is able to meet a soul in the night watches and to turn fear and trembling into peace, as He did when Jacob crossed Jabbok and found mercy instead of wrath.

We pray also for that general protection you have asked for. May the Lord keep you all within His borders in peace, and in all trials and afflictions may you look unto Christ and find deliverance, and in all guilt may you look unto Him and find pardon. He who brought forth Israel with silver and gold is able to enrich His people still with the unsearchable riches of Christ and to keep them from evil.

Continue to pray and to hope, for the clock of mercy strikes according to His eternal purpose, and He delights to save. Cast this soul and your own cares upon Him who invites all to come, and trust that He who has begun a good work is able to complete it to the praise of His free grace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We thank you for sharing this burden and we join you in prayer before our merciful God.

We lift up this man who is bound by addiction and ask the Lord to deliver him and to draw him to salvation through Jesus Christ alone. We pray that he would hear the word of Christ with care and keep it continually in his heart, and that God would grant him fortitude to endure and to turn away from what enslaves him, being freed not only from this bondage but also strengthened to walk in the other parts of a faithful life.

We ask that the Lord would work in his heart even as he sleeps and make Himself known to him, so that he would confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that God raised Him from the dead. Scripture teaches that this word of faith is near and brings both salvation and righteousness, and that now is the acceptable time and now is the day of salvation. We pray he will not delay but will receive Christ today.

We remember that Christ is the Captain of our salvation who was made perfect through sufferings, and that He suffered for our deliverance out of His great love. His suffering profits those who trust Him and reveals His glory. May that love comfort this man and lead him into patient endurance and true comfort, knowing that God can use even affliction to work comfort and salvation.

We also pray for you and for all who love this man, for the general protection you asked for. May the God of mercies who has delivered us keep you, guard you from evil, strengthen you in faith, and give you steadiness as you continue to intercede. We trust Him to hear these prayers and to act according to His mercy and grace.

Praying this person opens up more as they are still closed off and suppressing their mental health issues, pray God opens up an opportunity for them to seek mental health support with either a pastor or Christian counsellor if need be. Thanks for your prayers.
