We appreciate you carrying this person in prayer and noticing what they are holding inside. It can be hard to love someone who stays closed off, especially when you can see they are struggling and you want them to get support.
We often find that when someone suppresses what they are going through, it is not because they do not want help, but because opening up feels vulnerable or they worry about being a burden. Pressuring to talk can sometimes make them pull back further, while steady, patient care keeps the door open.
One gentle way forward is to keep letting them know you are a safe person without requiring them to share before they are ready. You might simply mention you would be glad to help connect them with a pastor or a Christian counselor if they ever want that kind of support, and then leave the invitation with them. That way the opportunity is there when God provides the right moment, and they can choose it freely.
We also think it is wise to keep praying that God brings that natural opening, whether through a conversation, a trusted pastor, or a counselor who respects their faith.
Father, we lift this person to You in Jesus name. You see what they are carrying privately and You care for them deeply. Give them peace and courage to share when they are ready, and guide them to wise, caring support. Give their loved one wisdom and patience to walk beside them well. Amen.

We join you in earnest prayer for this precious soul who remains closed off and bears this burden in silence. We bring this need before the throne of grace, asking the Lord who is too wise to err and too good to be unkind to look upon this one with tender mercy and to open the heart that has been shut up through sorrow and heaviness.
We pray that the God of all comfort would in His own time and way open a door of opportunity for honest and helpful Christian conversation. One of the great needs of the church is not only Christian preaching but Christian talking, that in the parlor and by the way we may speak freely of our trials and of Christ who upholds all that fall. May the Lord provide a safe and godly confidant, whether a faithful pastor or a wise Christian counsellor, and give this dear one courage to seek such help and to unburden the soul.
We are reminded that if every other heart were selfish, there should still be sympathy found in every Christian breast, and that the fruit of Christian sympathy is seen in kindly association with those who suffer. May the Lord surround this person with such sympathy, that they may not be shunned nor passed by, but gently drawn out and upheld.
We ask also for spiritual health and happiness, that the bones may be made fat by feeding upon the promises applied with power, and that Christian joy may become Christian strength in a time of drought. May this soul learn to trust the Lord where they cannot trace Him, and to resign all to His will, knowing that nothing can happen contrary to the will of God to those who are His.
We pray that the Lord would lift the weight of suppression, bring light into darkness, grant wisdom to any who counsel, and keep this one in continual fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom alone is our hope and healing. May the peace of God guard heart and mind, and may help be sought and found for His glory. Amen.
