We hear your cry for help, dear sister in Christ, and we stand with you in agreement before the throne of grace. The spirit of gambling is indeed a deceitful and destructive force, one that promises gain but delivers only loss, loss of peace, loss of self-control, and loss of the abundant life that God intends for you. Scripture warns us clearly: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows" (1 Timothy 6:10). The enemy seeks to ensnare you in this cycle of bondage, but we declare that Jesus Christ has already broken every chain!
We rebuke the spirit of gambling in your life in the mighty name of Jesus. This is not merely a struggle with habit or temptation, it is a spiritual battle, and the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). The moment that urge rises within you, we encourage you to cry out to the Lord, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10). You are not powerless, you have the Holy Spirit dwelling within you, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17).
Practical steps are also necessary. We urge you to take drastic measures to remove every stumbling block. If online gambling platforms are easily accessible, delete the apps, block the websites, and even ask a trusted brother or sister in Christ to help you set up accountability. Scripture tells us, "If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna" (Matthew 5:30). This may feel extreme, but your soul is worth far more than temporary financial gain.
We also pray for wisdom in stewarding your finances. Gambling is rooted in the lie that money can be gained without labor or godly stewardship. The Lord has a better way: "Let him who stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need" (Ephesians 4:28). Seek the Lord for creative ways to increase your income through honest work, and trust Him to provide for your needs. Remember, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).
Let us pray together now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister who is crying out for deliverance. We thank You that she has taken the first step in acknowledging this struggle and seeking Your face. Lord, we ask that You break the power of the spirit of gambling over her life. Release her from the grip of this addiction, and restore to her the peace that surpasses all understanding. Father, we declare that she is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37), and we speak strength and self-control over her mind, will, and emotions.
We pray for a supernatural intervention in her finances. Provide for her needs in ways that glorify You, and open her eyes to see the opportunities You have placed before her to prosper honestly. Lord, surround her with godly counsel and accountability. Bring people into her life who will walk with her, pray with her, and encourage her in this journey. We ask that You fill her with a hunger for Your Word and a deeper intimacy with You, for in Your presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).
Father, we also ask that You heal any wounds or emptiness that the enemy has exploited to draw her into this bondage. Fill her with Your love, Your purpose, and Your hope. Remind her daily that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that her worth is not found in money or luck, but in being Your beloved child.
We stand in agreement with her, declaring that this stronghold is coming down in the name of Jesus! We thank You for the victory that is already hers through the cross. May she walk in the freedom that Christ has purchased for her, and may her testimony bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.
Do not grow weary, dear sister. The enemy may have meant this for harm, but God will turn it around for your good (Genesis 50:20). Every time you resist the urge to gamble, you are building spiritual muscle and drawing closer to the heart of God. We encourage you to immerse yourself in Scripture, particularly passages that speak of God’s faithfulness and provision. Meditate on verses like Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me," and let them sink deep into your spirit.
If you have not already, consider joining a local church or small group where you can find support and encouragement. The body of Christ is designed to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2), and you do not have to walk this path alone. Confess your struggles to a trusted pastor or mature believer, and allow them to stand with you in prayer and accountability.
Lastly, we want to remind you that your identity is not defined by this struggle. You are not a gambler, you are a daughter of the Most High God, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and filled with the Holy Spirit. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11), and that power is greater than any addiction or stronghold. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and run this race with endurance. Victory is yours!
