We hear your cry for help in this heavy burden of debt, and we stand with you before the Lord, lifting this weight to Him who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10). Financial strain after divorce is a painful reality, but we know that our God is a provider who sees your needs and invites you to cast your cares upon Him (1 Peter 5:7).
First, we must address the root of this struggle. Divorce is a breaking of the covenant God designed for marriage—a lifelong union between one man and one woman (Matthew 19:4-6). While we do not know the circumstances that led to this separation, we must acknowledge that God hates divorce (Malachi 2:16) and calls us to reconciliation where possible. If there is any chance for restoration, we pray for healing and repentance in both hearts. If reconciliation is truly impossible, we pray for God’s grace to cover past wounds and for wisdom to move forward in a way that honors Him.
Now, concerning your debt, we declare that our God is Jehovah Jireh—the Lord who provides (Genesis 22:14). We rebuke the spirit of lack and fear that may be gripping your heart, for the Lord has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We speak provision over your life and command every financial obstacle to bow to the name of Jesus!
We pray that the Lord would open doors of opportunity for you—better employment, wise stewardship, and unexpected blessings. May He give you the discipline to manage what He entrusts to you, for "the borrower is servant to the lender" (Proverbs 22:7), and we do not want you enslaved to debt any longer. We pray for supernatural debt cancellation, divine favor with creditors, and creative solutions to reduce what you owe.
But we also encourage you to seek godly counsel in managing your finances. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." Find a trusted believer who can help you budget, save, and make wise financial decisions. The Lord may also be calling you to make sacrifices—cutting unnecessary expenses, selling possessions, or taking on extra work—to honor Him with your finances.
Above all, we pray that you would seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that all these things—including financial provision—will be added unto you (Matthew 6:33). Do not let fear or shame keep you from drawing near to Him. He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who became poor that we might become rich (2 Corinthians 8:9). We lift up our brother/sister in this time of financial distress. Lord, You see the weight of debt pressing down, and You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We ask for supernatural intervention—debts erased, income increased, and wisdom multiplied.
Forgive any areas where poor stewardship, impulsive spending, or unforgiveness may have contributed to this burden. Cleanse and renew a right spirit within, that they may walk in financial freedom and honor You with their resources. Provide divine connections, unexpected blessings, and open doors that no man can shut. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We declare that this season of lack is temporary, and that Your provision is on the way. May they experience Your faithfulness in tangible ways and grow in trust as they wait on You. Strengthen their hands for the work ahead, and let them be a testimony of Your goodness to others. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
