Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your concern for your father and for asking for prayer for his painful knees. We join you in bringing him before the Father in the name of Jesus, asking for healing and for restored health and strength.
Knee pain can be very wearing, especially as the years go on. It can linger and affect every step and become a constant reminder of our frailty. Yet Scripture reminds us that Jesus came doing the works of the Father, and those works included healing the sick and lifting up those who had fallen. We believe God is still able to heal today, and we come to Him with confidence, not through any human intermediary, but directly to the Father through Jesus Christ. Jesus Himself said that He is in the Father and the Father in Him, and that to see Him is to see the Father, and that He does the works of the Father. Because of Him we have direct access to the Father when we pray in His name.
There is a beautiful promise that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. While we pray for your father's knees to be relieved of pain, we also gladly bow our own knees now before the Lord, confessing that Jesus is Lord over all sickness and health, and asking for His mercy.
You also asked for good health for your father. The apostle John wrote to his friend Gaius a loving greeting that he would prosper and be in health even as his soul prospered. That was a heartfelt wish from one believer to another, much as we would write hoping a letter finds someone well, not a formula that guarantees healing if we claim it in a certain way. Still, it shows the heart God gives us to desire health and wholeness for those we love, and it is right for us to make that wish our prayer for your father.
So we pray that the Father, who loves you and who hears you because you have loved His Son and believed that He came from God, would touch your father's knees, ease his pain, and restore him to greater health according to His wise and gracious will. We honor the Son as we honor the Father, and we trust both for what is best. May the Lord comfort your father, strengthen his body, and draw him and your family closer to Himself as you continue to call upon Jesus, confessing Him as Lord and trusting Him as Savior. Amen.
