We see your heart in aligning prayer with Scripture, lifting up the Lord’s glory first and seeking His kingdom above all else. This is the foundation of all true prayer, beginning with reverence for the Father, surrender to His will, and trust in His provision. The model prayer in Matthew 6 is a beautiful reminder that our requests must flow from a posture of worship, not self-centeredness. We are called to seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and then all these things, our daily needs, forgiveness, protection, will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33).

Yet we must also examine our hearts as we pray. The apostle John warns us, "Beloved, if our hearts don’t condemn us, we have boldness toward God; and whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight" (1 John 3:21-22). Are we walking in obedience to His Word? Are we forgiving others as we ask to be forgiven? Are we guarding our hearts against sin, especially in relationships? Fornication, adultery, and ungodly unions grieve the Holy Spirit and hinder our prayers. If there is any area where we are not aligned with God’s design for marriage, a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, we must repent and turn away from it. The Lord is faithful to forgive and cleanse us when we confess our sins (1 John 1:9).

We also note that your prayer is offered in Jesus’ name, which is essential. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus Himself said, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you" (John 16:23). Without Christ, we have no access to the Father. If anyone reading this has not surrendered their life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, confess Him as Lord, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9-10).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts of worship, honoring Your holy name. Your kingdom come, Your will be done in our lives as it is in heaven. We surrender every area of our lives to You, our relationships, our desires, our struggles. Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have sought our own will above Yours. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness, especially in how we conduct our relationships. If there is any impurity, any ungodly union, any lust or selfishness, reveal it to us and give us the strength to walk away.

We ask for Your daily provision, both physical and spiritual. Provide for our needs according to Your riches in glory. Help us to forgive others as You have forgiven us, and guard our hearts from bitterness. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Protect us from the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to destroy marriages, families, and godly relationships.

Father, we pray for those who are single, that You would prepare them for a godly spouse, one who loves You above all else. Give them patience and wisdom as they wait on Your timing. For those who are married, strengthen their covenant. Let their union reflect Christ and the Church, a bond of love, sacrifice, and faithfulness.

We declare that Your kingdom, power, and glory endure forever. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can approach You. Amen.

Thank you for sharing this prayer with us, what a beautiful way to center your heart. We’re drawn to the order Jesus gives us here: first the Father’s glory, His kingdom, His will, and then our daily needs, forgiveness, and protection. It’s easy to rush straight to the “give us” part, but you’ve reminded us that when we put God’s purposes first, everything else finds its proper place.

This week, perhaps you could linger over just one phrase each day. For example, on Monday quietly reflect on what it means for God’s name to be honored in your home or workplace. On Tuesday, ask what His kingdom coming might look like in a specific relationship or decision you’re facing. Let the prayer become a slow, personal conversation rather than words to get through. We’ve found that doing this often uncovers ways God is already working and adjusts our own longings to match His.

We’re praying with you now, trusting that the One who taught us to pray like this hears us and will continue to shape your life around His great purposes.

Lord, thank You that we can come to You as our Father, knowing You welcome us in Jesus. Settle our hearts today around Your glory before anything else, and then provide what we truly need, daily bread, genuine forgiveness, a clean heart toward others, and Your steady hand keeping us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

It is well to put first things first, for the order you have followed in your prayer reveals a heart taught of God. To begin with the Father's glory, the hallowing of His name, and the coming of His kingdom before ever we stoop to our own necessities, this is the true order of the perfect Pattern, and it is the sweet constraint of a soul that loves Him. When we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, we may then with holy confidence ask for our daily bread, for all else shall be added unto us. You have done rightly in setting the Father's business before your own, for the glory of God is the horizon of all truly sanctified prayer.

You plead for His provision, for the forgiveness of debts, and for deliverance from evil. I have seen that God has already given commandment to save His people, and He has found a ransom. Deliverance from the pit is His own free act of Divine love, through a way none could have invented but Himself. That same delivering hand will not fail to give you bread and water. Did He give His own dear Son to put away sin, and will He not give you all lesser mercies? He who has delivered us from so great a death, and from the guilt of sin, will continue to deliver us from the power of it, and from every subtle snare of the evil one. The evil which assaults you springs not from the dust; it lies within the fence of Omnipotent overruling. When Satan shoots his bitter arrows, that one which remembers your sins and makes you fear God will be gracious no more, remember, there is forgiveness with Him that He may be feared.

Let faith lay firm hold upon this: the forgiveness you seek is a divine forgiveness, an eternal forgiveness, given for Christ's sake alone. It is not a priestly absolution of blasphemy, but the very word of Him who says, "I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions." Never mistake the chastenings of a loving Father for the punishments of an angry Judge. There is a vast and blessed distance between them. The sharpest smart becomes profitable when we see the rod is in a Father's hand, and He has already forgiven our sin. That deliverance which Christ has won for you is full, free, and continuous. The Lord has chastened you at times, perhaps, but it is not to cast you from His presence; it is to keep back your soul from the pit. The grain of comfort here is this, you shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. The blood that bought your pardon is the seal of your daily preservation.

Troubles may abound, temptations may roar like the archers at the water-brooks, but the voice from the excellent Glory has spoken: "Deliver him from going down to the pit." Rest in this. Your daily bread and your deliverance from evil are assured to you in the same covenant that grants you forgiveness. Look alone to your heavenly Father, for both sanctification and all temporal mercies are as much His work as the pardon of your sin. He gives from the flock, from the threshing floor, and from the winepress, and His forgiveness is the full release of a debtor who is then bountifully furnished for the journey home. Go your way then, forgiven, kept, and supplied, to walk in the sunlight of His reconciling face, and let your gratitude itself be a song of deliverance.

You have done well to begin with the glory of the Father and the coming of His kingdom, for the Lord Himself set this order, teaching us to honor His name and desire His will before ever we utter a word about our own needs. This is the pattern of perfect prayer, and it humbles the soul to seek first the things of God.

When you ask for daily bread, remember what is meant: bread for today, not for hoarding or luxury, but what suffices for our bodily weakness. He who said, "Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven," knows we are flesh and must eat; yet He bounds our asking by the word "daily" so that we take no thought for the morrow. The same Apostle elsewhere prays that God would minister bread for your food and multiply your seed for sowing, that you may have sufficiency for every good work, not abundance for indulgence.

Mark also that the prayer is given in common. He teaches us to say "our," "us," everywhere, so that no one may retain a vestige of anger against his neighbor while seeking his own forgiveness. For we ask our debts to be forgiven only as we forgive our debtors. Consider this deeply: if you withhold pardon, you thrust a sword into your own soul, asking God not to forgive you. For He pronounced blessed those whose iniquities are forgiven, but that blessedness belongs to the forgiving heart, united in love to the one body, even as we all partake of the one bread and become one body in Christ.

When you pray, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil," be of good courage. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, and He will not suffer you to be tempted above your power, but with the temptation will also make a way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Tribulations and distresses may come, but the Apostle dared them all, knowing nothing could separate us from the love of Christ.

Therefore, pray after this manner, not with anxious words, but with a heart at peace, forgiving freely, asking only for what is needful, and trusting the Father's power and glory forever. Amen.
