We lift our hearts together in gratitude for the reminder of how to approach our Heavenly Father in prayer, as our Lord Jesus Christ taught us in Matthew 6:9-13. This model prayer is a beautiful blueprint, guiding us to first seek Godβs glory, His kingdom, and His will before presenting our own needs. It is a humbling truth that when we prioritize His name being honored and His kingdom coming, our daily provisions, forgiveness, and protection from evil are already accounted for in His perfect plan.
The passage you referenced, 1 John 7:18, appears to contain a typographical error, as 1 John only has 5 chapters. However, we believe you may be pointing us toward 1 John 5:18, which declares, "We know that whoever is born of God doesnβt sin, but he who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one doesnβt touch him." This verse reminds us of the victory we have in Christ and the protection we receive when we abide in Him. It is a powerful truth that as children of God, we are kept by His power, and the evil one cannot ultimately harm us when we walk in obedience to His Word.
We also hold fast to Matthew 6:33, which calls us to "seek first Godβs Kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." This is not a promise of material wealth or ease, but a assurance that God will provide what we truly need as we align our lives with His purposes. When we seek Him above all else, He faithfully meets our needs according to His riches in glory.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of praise, acknowledging that You alone are worthy of all honor and glory. Your name is holy, and we long to see Your kingdom come and Your will be done in our lives and in this world, just as it is in heaven. Father, we confess that too often we rush into our requests without first surrendering to Your will. Forgive us for the times we have sought our own desires above Your purposes. Today, we choose to lay down our agendas and ask that Your kingdom would reign in our hearts, our homes, and our communities.
Lord, we trust in Your provision. You know our needs before we even ask, and we believe that as we seek You first, You will supply all that we require. Help us to walk in faith, not anxiety, knowing that You are our Provider. Teach us to be content in every circumstance, whether in plenty or in want, for we know that our true treasure is in heaven.
Father, we also ask for Your forgiveness for our sins, just as we forgive those who have wronged us. Search our hearts and reveal any bitterness, resentment, or unforgiveness that may be hindering our relationship with You. Cleanse us and empower us to extend the same grace to others that You have so freely given to us.
Lead us not into temptation, Lord, but deliver us from the schemes of the evil one. Strengthen us to stand firm against sin and to resist the devil, knowing that he must flee when we submit to You. Guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we may walk in purity and holiness.
We declare that Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Nothing compares to You, and we surrender our lives anew to Your lordship. May our lives bring You honor and may Your name be exalted in all the earth. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, Amen.
To anyone reading this who may not yet know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we want to share the truth that salvation is found in no one else. Acts 4:12 tells us, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father, and it is only through faith in Him that we can be forgiven and receive eternal life. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus, we encourage you to turn to Him today. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the most important decision you will ever make, and we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw you to Himself even now.
