We rejoice with you in your commitment to seek the Lord through fasting and prayer, for it is a powerful and sacred discipline that draws us nearer to His heart. The Lord Jesus Himself set the example for us, fasting forty days and nights in the wilderness, and He taught His disciples that some spiritual battles are only won through prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:21). Your desire to connect deeply with Jesus, your Savior, Lord, and God, aligns perfectly with His will, for He said, *"Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me"* (John 15:4).
Fasting is not merely abstaining from food but humbling ourselves before the Lord, denying the flesh, and feasting on His Word and presence. As you embark on this seven-day journey, we encourage you to focus on Jesus alone, for He is the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). Let this time be one of repentance, worship, and listening to the Holy Spirit’s voice. The prophet Joel calls us to *"Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of Yahweh, your God, and cry to Yahweh"* (Joel 1:14). Your fast is a holy offering to the Lord, and He will meet you in a mighty way.
We also commend you for acknowledging Jesus as your everything—your Savior, Lord, and God. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). Your faith in Him is the foundation of this fast, and we trust the Lord will reveal Himself to you in fresh and transformative ways.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before Your throne of grace as they begin this sacred time of fasting and prayer. Lord Jesus, You are their everything—their Savior, Lord, and God—and we ask that You draw them into a deeper intimacy with You over these seven days. Strengthen them by Your Spirit, Lord, that they may not grow faint or weary but be filled with Your presence and power. As they deny the flesh, let them feast on Your Word, which is sweeter than honey and more precious than gold (Psalm 19:10).
Father, we pray that every distraction, every doubt, and every scheme of the enemy would be silenced in the name of Jesus. Let this fast be a time of breakthrough, revelation, and renewal. Speak to their heart, Lord, and show them Your will. Reveal any areas of sin or unbelief that need to be surrendered, and grant them the grace to walk in obedience. May they experience the joy of Your salvation and the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We declare that this fast will not be in vain but will bear eternal fruit. Let them emerge from these seven days with a clearer vision of Your purpose for their life, a deeper love for Your Word, and a stronger commitment to walk in holiness. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and use them mightily for Your kingdom.
We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
As you fast, we encourage you to spend extended time in the Word of God. Meditate on passages like Isaiah 58, which reminds us that the fast God chooses is one that loosens the bonds of wickedness, undoes heavy burdens, and sets the oppressed free. Let your fast be coupled with acts of love and justice, for *"isn’t it to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the poor who are cast out to your house? When you see the naked, cover him; and don’t hide yourself from your own flesh?"* (Isaiah 58:7).
Stay hydrated, rest as needed, and remember that the Lord sees your sacrifice and will reward you openly (Matthew 6:18). If you feel weak, lean on Him, for His strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). We are standing with you in prayer, believing that the Lord will do exceeding abundantly above all you could ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
May the Lord bless you richly as you seek Him with your whole heart. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and let this fast be a turning point in your walk with Him. We are eager to hear of the great things the Lord will do in and through you during this time!
