Humble Servant of All
Lord, please stimulate my ###'s appetite. Please stop my ### from drinking and help him to lose weight. Please bring him back to church with me.

We join you in lifting up your precious family before the Lord, for He knows each one by name even where details have been withheld, and He hears the deep love and concern you have for them.

We pray first for your loved one who has little appetite. We know that our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made and that God cares for our physical needs. For He satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with good, Psalm 107:9, and we are reminded to pray that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers, 3 John 1:2. We ask the Lord to restore health and strength, to stimulate a healthy appetite, and to grant wisdom to any caregivers or doctors involved, trusting that every good gift comes from the Father.

We also lift up your loved one who is struggling with drinking and with weight, and who has drifted from fellowship. We must speak honestly with love about drinking, for the Scripture warns us, Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, Ephesians 5:18, and Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise, Proverbs 20:1. Drunkenness is not to be taken lightly, for it dulls the heart, harms the body, and leads away from God. We also remember that our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to glorify God in our body and in our spirit, which are God's, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and that whether we eat or drink, or whatever we do, we should do all to the glory of God, 1 Corinthians 10:31. Excess weight and strong drink can both burden the body and the spirit, and we pray for deliverance, self-control, and a renewed desire for what is holy and healthy. The fruit of the Spirit includes self-control, Galatians 5:22-23, and we pray that he will be strengthened to turn from what harms him and to walk in that fruit.

Your desire to see him back in church with you is beautiful and biblical, for we are exhorted not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, Hebrews 10:25, and we know there is joy and strength when families worship together, as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh, Joshua 24:15. We pray that the Lord will soften his heart, draw him back to fellowship, and rekindle a hunger for the Word and for the presence of God among His people.

We notice you prayed to the Lord, and we gently encourage you to come always in the name of Jesus Christ, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is only through faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we have access to God and assurance of eternal life, as confessed, if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. We encourage you to rest in that name and to pray continually in that name.

So we pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, thanking You for this family and for the love that has prompted this prayer. We ask You to touch the one who struggles to eat, restore appetite and nourishment, heal any underlying infirmity, and give peace and strength. We ask You to deliver our brother from the bondage of drink, convict his heart, break every chain, and fill him instead with Your Holy Spirit. Grant him discipline and help to steward his body well, to lose what burdens him and to walk in health for Your glory. Draw him back to Your house, stir his heart to desire fellowship and worship again, and let this family be united in serving You. Give comfort and perseverance to the one who is interceding, and let Your will be done in each life. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue in steadfast prayer, to speak the truth in love, to invite him gently and persistently to worship, and to model a joyful faith at home. Keep setting before him a table of grace, healthy choices, and godly example, trusting that God is at work even when progress seems slow. We stand with you, believing that God hears and will answer according to His perfect wisdom and mercy.

We hear how much you love him and how heavy it feels to watch his health and his drinking weigh on him, while also missing him beside you at church. We are praying with you for him and for you as you love him well.

It can be discouraging when appetite fades, weight stays on, and alcohol becomes a regular escape. Those patterns often grow from many tangled reasons at once, which is why change usually takes time, honest support and steady steps rather than one quick fix. Your faithful prayers and your gentle invitation to church matter more than you may see, even on days when nothing seems to shift.

One steady next step that often helps is to bring a trusted helper into the circle. If he is open, offering to go with him to see his doctor about the appetite and drinking concerns, or to talk together with a pastor you both trust, can give you both clearer wisdom for what to do next. A local recovery support community can also be a place of understanding for families walking this road. We would encourage those supports alongside prayer, not instead of it.

Father, we lift this dear man to You and we lift the one who loves him. Give him strength and a desire for wholeness, guide his health and his steps, and give wisdom and peace to our friend as they continue to love and pray. Draw them both closer to You in Your timing and care. In Jesus name, amen.

Your burden for your loved one has been laid before the Lord and we join our hearts with yours in prayer to our gracious God who is mighty to restore.

We entreat the Lord for him, that He would in mercy give appetite and strength to his body, that He would break the power of strong drink and grant him sobriety and self control by the Holy Spirit, and that He would guide him in wisdom concerning his health that his body may be kept in temperance for the service of God. We pray especially that the Lord would draw him back to the house of God with you, for the Church of Christ is within itself a family and longs to see those who have turned aside return again.

Take comfort that our Saviour is a Restorer. As Peter was down but was soon up again, and his story is rather his restoration than his fall, so the Lord can yet restore your loved one. That restoration was brought about by a look from the Lord and by the prayer of Christ for Peter, and that same Lord looks still with compassion upon the wandering and His intercession has not ceased. When that look comes, it severs a man from the crowd and brings him to repentance, and we pray that such a look of grace may now be cast upon him.

Remember also that restoration is a long process. The weakened limbs only recover strength by slow degrees, and the man that long has tossed upon the weary bed does not at once run and leap as before. Wonder not if recovery should be slow, and as you see a little strength given, acknowledge in each increase that the Lord has a new claim upon your affection and upon his. Continue steadfast in prayer, in private and in the family, and continue to strengthen your brother as the Lord enables you, for in so large a family there must be a universal mutual pastorate and you that are converted must strengthen your brethren.

Be assured that if he should return truly penitent, there is none more willing to receive him back again than the people of God. We have felt a joy akin to that of Heaven when those who have sinned grossly have been received again into fellowship, for they love Christ better than ever, having had much forgiven. Come along then, we would say to every backslider, the Church will gladly take you back.

We pray that the Lord will hear your cry, that He will make His face to shine upon your house, that He will keep you faithful while you wait, and that He will in His own time bring your loved one to health of body and to renewed fellowship with Christ and with His people. We ask all in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, who alone can save and restore.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer for your family member has been heard and we join you in bringing him before the Lord with love and hope.

We pray first for his body. You ask God to stir his appetite and to restore his strength, and that is right to ask, for God cares for the needs of the body and gives food to sustain us. At the same time we ask God to give him a measured and healthy appetite, not ruled by excess but governed by self control. Scripture teaches us to mortify the body and bring its desires under the rule of the Spirit, so that we may live with clarity and health. In that spirit we pray for his weight and his overall health, that God would grant him discipline, strength to care for the body God has given him, and wisdom to use food as nourishment rather than indulgence.

We also join you in praying for deliverance from drinking. Strong drink quickly takes hold of a person, and what seems easy to master from a distance becomes a snare when we are caught by it. We ask the Lord to break that hold, to give him sobriety and a sober mind, and to replace the desire for drink with a desire for what is good and pure. Pray that the fire of the Spirit would quench that appetite and that he would find freedom and clear mindedness in Christ.

We pray too for his return to the church. The church is like a household and like heaven on earth, a place of prayer, listening, and fellowship, not merely a building but the family of God. A home is well ordered when those in it walk together in faith, and the church is strengthened when its members gather together. We ask God to soften his heart, to draw him back with kindness, and to give you patience and a gentle example as you continue to walk faithfully. Continue to invite him, to pray for him, and to live before him a life of steady faith and love.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we thank you for your care for our bodies and our souls. We ask you to restore this man's appetite and health, to deliver him from the desire for strong drink and give him self control, and to lead him to care for his body in a way that honors you. Bring him back to fellowship with your people, give him a hunger for your word and for prayer, and help him to worship with a pure conscience and a sincere heart. Strengthen the one who prays for him, give comfort and perseverance, and let this family know your peace. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
