Family

You’ve done the right thing in calling on your Father for strength. Prayer isn’t a last resort; it’s the first step in every battle. When a family faces struggles, whether they come from outside pressures or tensions within, the immediate reflex should be to cry out to God. He wants to hear us say, “Lord, I am poor and needy; I have no strength of my own.” That kind of honesty unlocks His help.

Notice how often David prayed before he took any action. He was a warrior, yet he constantly admitted his weakness and asked God to be his strong habitation, his deliverer, his high tower. He learned that vain is the help of man, but through God he would do valiantly. You can do the same. Your family’s battles aren’t won by your own grit or careful planning alone. Strength is found as you come before Him and say, “Be my strength, O Lord, for I have none.” He will change your perspective, lifting you from an attitude of defeat into a settled confidence that the victory is His.

But don’t stop there. Prayer isn’t an excuse to do nothing. Nehemiah made his prayer to God and then set a watch day and night. Prayer and prudent action move together. Pray together as a family, and then take wise, responsible steps. When you’ve prayed and done what you can, you can rest because the battle is the Lord’s. Even if you feel afraid right now, remember David’s words: “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” Your Father knows every detail. He will strengthen you, guide you, and bring you through. Keep leaning on Him, and don’t try to shoulder these burdens alone. He is your help and your deliverer.
