Thank you for sharing your need and allowing us to pray with you for the healing of your eyes after retina surgery. We have brought your request before the Lord and we continue to ask Him to touch you and restore your sight.
We believe strongly that God heals, and that He heals in many different ways. In the Gospels there is one account where Jesus laid His hands on a blind man and at first the man saw only partially, as though people looked like trees walking, and then Jesus touched him again and his sight was fully restored. That reminds us that healing is not always instant. Sometimes it is gradual, step by step, and that gradual work is no less from God.
Much about healing we do not fully understand. We do not know why some are healed quickly and completely and others are not, and if we were in charge we would heal everyone. But we trust the wisdom and love of God even when we cannot explain His ways. It is wrong to tell someone who is still waiting for healing that it must be because of sin in their life or because they lack faith. That is not scriptural and it only adds hurt. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times for the removal of what he called a thorn in the flesh, and the Lord chose not to remove it but to give grace to bear it.
At the same time Scripture gives us great confidence to ask for physical healing. Matthew points to the prophecy in Isaiah chapter 53 verse 4, surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, and understands that word for griefs to mean sicknesses and infirmities. He says this was fulfilled when Jesus healed the sick and cast out spirits, showing that Christ bore our infirmities as well as our sins. When Jesus took the bread and said this is My body which is broken for you, He was pointing to that same provision. Jesus went through the cities and villages teaching and preaching and healing every sickness and disease, showing His power over the physical body and His heart to restore what sin and brokenness have damaged in this world.
Healing that comes through the natural processes God has placed in our bodies is also divine. God created our bodies and the processes by which they mend. The recovery after surgery, though it can be painful and slow and require patience, is part of that divinely ordained process of restoration. God is in the business of restoration, working against the consequences of the fall, and He can work both through a sudden touch and through the gradual mending He has built into our frame.
We also believe in simply coming to Jesus in faith and asking the elders to pray for the sick as Scripture instructs in James chapter 5, without frenzy or show. True healing does not need to be worked up or put on display. It comes quietly from the hand of the Lord, sometimes felt in a moment and sometimes unfolding over days and weeks as strength returns.
So we are praying for you that the Lord would graciously complete the healing of your retina, clear your vision, and give wisdom and skill to those caring for you. We ask Him to give you peace while you wait, to guard you from discouragement, and to make His presence very real to you. If healing comes gradually, may you see His hand in each small improvement, and may your testimony be an encouragement to others.
Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear one to You. You know the need of these eyes and the surgery that has taken place. You bore our infirmities and You understand our weakness. We ask for Your healing power to rest upon these eyes, to restore sight and health according to Your perfect will. Give comfort, patience, and hope in the waiting, and let Your grace be sufficient each day. We trust this need into Your loving hands and thank You for hearing us. Amen.
