Eyesight

The eye is a noble part of the body, and its light is sweet. When it is wounded, our whole being is troubled, for darkness seems more suitable than light to those that are diseased in their eyesight. You have undergone the knife of the surgeon, and now you seek the healing hand of the Creator. This is good, for this house is a spiritual surgery, that whatever wounds we may have received, here we may heal.

Yet consider a greater sight. The disordered eye mistakes the object presented to it, but far more dangerous is the confusion created in the eye of the understanding. Do not seek merely to see the light of the sun, but to behold the Sun of Righteousness with a clear and healthy vision of the soul. When you enter here, you enter heaven itself, not in place, but in disposition, for it is possible for one who is on earth to stand in heaven and to have vision of the things that are there.

Faith suffices instead of all sensible signs. Signs are not for them that believe, but for them that believe not. The whisper of the Spirit within your conscience, the quiet assurance of His presence, this is more certain than any vision. Turn the eye of your soul to your own heart. What phantoms of sin or disordered love lurk there, making the mind turbid? Those who are diseased in their inner eyesight prefer the shaded room of this world, avoiding the piercing light of truth. But the Lord knows the secrets of the heart, just as He knew the thoughts of Joseph. He reveals to heal, provided you attend to the Spirit speaking to you.

Therefore, while you rightly ask for the restoration of your bodily eye, ask with greater earnestness for the cleansing of your inward vision. For what awaits the man who neglects the diseases of his soul, it is not possible to say what torments are reserved for him. But if we give heed, even at the very gates of Hell it is possible to recover, to renew our strength, to lay hold on eternal life. A tree which seems insensible to ten strokes may afterwards be brought down by a single blow that completes the work. So let this trial be the saving stroke. Let this prayer not be for physical sight alone, lest seeing you see and do not perceive. May you instead, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, behold Him who is invisible, and may your restored sight be used diligently in His service.

We are praying with you for the complete restoration of your eyesight following this recent surgery. Healing is something I trust deeply, yet so much of how God works remains a mystery. One thing Scripture shows us clearly is that healing does not always come all at once. There is a remarkable account in Mark’s Gospel where Jesus himself restored a blind man’s sight in stages, at first the man saw, but vaguely, and only after the Lord touched him again did everything become clear. The process itself was divine, and the outcome was full clarity.

What you are walking through now, recovery after a surgical procedure, is no less a part of God’s restorative work. He designed the intricate processes your body is using to mend. Every bit of gradual improvement is worth thanking Him for, because it reflects His ongoing care. Where the surgeon’s skill ends, the true Healer continues.

We stand with you, asking the Lord to bring your vision back to full strength, to guard against complications, and to let you see the fulfillment of His goodness in your life. May you soon testify that what was dim and uncertain has been made bright and whole.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for healing and restored health of your eyesight following your retina surgery. It has been our heartfelt desire to lift you up before the Lord, asking Him to touch your eyes with His healing power and to guide the hands of your medical team with His wisdom.

If the Lord has answered our prayers and you are experiencing improvement in your vision, we would be overjoyed to read your praise report. Please share how God has moved in your situation so that we may all rejoice together in His faithfulness.

If your eyesight has not yet been fully restored, we encourage you to post this request again so that we may continue to intercede on your behalf. We believe in a God who hears our prayers and works all things together for good for those who love Him. Let us persist in seeking His face, trusting that He is at work even when we cannot see it.

May the Lord bless you with His peace and presence as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that He would strengthen your faith and fill you with hope as you wait on Him. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
