My parents have eye issues; different issues. I hope my dad ###’s eyes can improve so he can do more without risk. I hope my mum ###’s eyes also improve, she had eye surgery, but now they are issues, hope she goes to the doctor on a sunny day, as I don’t want to be stuck in a van for a while, if it’s bad out, and I have a gift card to use, as the doctor’s office and the shop with the gift card are both in a town, that might take a while just to get to and back. Hope the plague in Russia and Ebola in Africa do not spread to other countries.

We have heard your heart for your parents and we join with you in bringing their eye needs before the Lord together in Jesus name. It is a tender thing to watch those who raised us face health struggles, and we know God sees both your father and your mother and cares deeply for them.

We pray for your father that the Lord would strengthen and restore his sight so he may be able to do more without risk or fear of injury. We pray for your mother as well, especially after her eye surgery, that what is causing these new issues would be revealed and healed and that her recovery would be complete. The Lord is the one who gives sight and who heals, for it is written Psalm 146:8 The Lord opens the eyes of the blind, and also Exodus 15:26 I am the Lord who heals you. We also cling to the promise in Jeremiah 30:17 But I will restore you to health, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord. We ask God to give wisdom to the doctors who will examine her and to guide their hands and their counsel, as James 5:15 says The prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.

We understand your concern about the practical matters surrounding your mother's appointment, hoping for a sunny day, not wanting to be stuck in a van for a long time if the weather is bad, and hoping to use your gift card while you are in town since both the doctor and the shop are some distance away. We gently encourage you to keep your parents needs first in love and honor, even above convenience, for we are taught Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and your mother, and Philippians 2:3-4 tells us to in humility consider others better than ourselves, each of us not just looking to his own things, but each of us also to the things of others. We pray the Lord will provide a day with good weather and safe travel for you all, that the trip to and from town would be peaceful and not burdensome, and that He would provide the right timing for your errands as well. We can bring even these small details to Him, because Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We also join you in praying for mercy regarding the plague in Russia and Ebola in Africa, that the Lord in His compassion would contain these diseases and prevent them from spreading to other countries. We ask Him to comfort those who are suffering, to strengthen those who are caring for the sick, and to grant wisdom to leaders and medical workers. We remember that God is our refuge and we can ask for His protection over the nations.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And it is written in Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we believe in our hearts that Jesus died for our sins and rose again and confess Him as Lord, we have forgiveness and eternal life as Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name we pray with confidence.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear father and mother to You in the name of Jesus. Touch our brother or sister's father's eyes, restore what is weakened, protect him from risk and give him strength to do what he needs to do. Touch our sister's mother's eyes after surgery, heal any complication, remove inflammation or pain, and restore clear sight. Guide her to the doctor at the right time and give that doctor discernment to help her fully. Provide a safe day for travel, with fair weather and protection on the road, and ease the burden of the long ride in the van. Provide for every need and let even the simple errand with the gift card be ordered by Your hand. Lord, have mercy on those affected by plague and by Ebola, contain these outbreaks, bring healing to the sick and comfort to families, and prevent further spread across borders. Draw each of us closer to You through Jesus Christ, our only hope and healer. We thank You that You hear our prayers. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Your request has been brought before the Lord with care, and we join you in seeking His mercy for your parents and for the nations you have named.

We are reminded that there is one great Physician who lays His hands upon men and they are restored, there is but one, and that Fountain was opened on Calvary. Jesus is the Tree of Life, and not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves thereof are for the healing of the nations. There grows no healing herb but the one plant of renown. We therefore look not to means alone, but to Christ Himself, who has healing in His wings, and in whom pardon and healing are one.

We pray that the Lord will look upon your father and your mother in their affliction of the eyes. He who keeps His people as the apple of the eye is both tender and powerful to keep, to cleanse, and to restore. May He grant wisdom to the physicians, and may He, according to His good will, improve their sight and preserve them from further risk and harm. We ask that He will order the day for your mother's visit to the doctor, giving you fair weather and safe travel to and from the town, and that even the small provision of the gift card and the journey may be ordered by His providence for your good. We very speedily care for bodily diseases, and we do well to seek the physician, yet we know that all true healing is from His hand alone, and that His grace will keep the soul in health until the glory life begins.

We also join you in prayer for those suffering from plague and from Ebola, and for all lands where sickness spreads. How we need the healing leaves to drop thick upon the nations till the world shall be the abode of moral health. May the Lord in His mercy restrain the spread of disease, comfort the afflicted, and grant to rulers and healers wisdom and compassion.

May you be kept as the apple of the eye, sensitive to His Spirit, single eyed toward Christ, and far seeing in faith. We pray that you and your parents will know the Sun of Righteousness risen upon you, and that whether He grants full restoration of sight in this life or sustains you through continued weakness, you will find that you are on your way to eternal health, where you shall be without spot or wrinkle. Cast your care upon Him, for His eye is ever upon His own, and His delight is in them.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior, we ask for mercy upon this father and mother, touch their eyes and grant them such healing as pleases Thee, guard their going out and coming in, and let Thy healing virtue be known among the nations. Grant repentance and faith where it is needed, and perfect Thy work in them till they shall see Thee face to face. Amen.
