Please pray for my ex boyfriend as he may have some serious health issues. For certain reasons, he won't speak to me after our breakup and I now have no idea how he's doing. We also live in separate cities. I don't even know if he's alive. This is all really hard. Pray for him to be okay. Pray for his salvation. Pray for his loved ones. Thank you.

We hear the heaviness in your heart and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord together in Jesus' name. It is painful to care deeply for someone and have no way to know how he is doing, where he is, or even if he is alive, especially when there has been a breakup and distance and silence between you. We understand how hard this uncertainty is, but we take comfort that nothing is hidden from God. Even when we do not know where someone is, God does. Psalm 139:7-10 reminds us that there is nowhere we can go from His presence, and Psalm 34:18 tells us Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. We cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us, 1 Peter 5:7, and we are told in Philippians 4:6-7 to in no anxiety be anxious, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let our requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We want to gently speak to the relationship you mentioned. You referred to him as your ex boyfriend. In Scripture, the relationship between a man and a woman that honors God is courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, leading to a lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. We believe marriage should be strongly endorsed as God's design, and being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be understood as a season of courtship to discern if God is leading you toward marriage. It is to be entered into with purity and with the purpose of finding a godly spouse, not simply a partner or companion. The Bible teaches in Hebrews 13:4 that marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, and in 1 Corinthians 6:18 to flee sexual immorality. If there was sexual intimacy outside of marriage in this relationship, we lovingly urge repentance before God, for fornication is sin, but there is forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus when we confess. We also encourage you in 2 Corinthians 6:14 not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, so as you look ahead, we pray you will seek a godly husband who loves Christ and will lead a Christ centered marriage. For now, since this relationship has ended, we encourage you to entrust this young man fully to the Lord and allow God to heal your own heart and guide your future.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share with love that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that we can be saved. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. To be saved we must believe in our hearts that Jesus died for our sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, Romans 10:9. It is because of Jesus that we can boldly bring prayers for healing and salvation to the Father, and we want to pray for this man and for you in that precious name.

We now pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this young man to You, wherever he is and whatever his condition. You know his name, his body, his health, and his soul. You see if he is suffering and You know every need. We ask for Your mercy and healing hand upon him. You are Yahweh who heals us, Psalm 103:3, who forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases, and You have promised in Jeremiah 30:17, I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We ask that if it is Your will, You would restore his health, protect his life, and provide godly medical care and comfort through his loved ones. Most of all, we pray for his salvation. Draw him to Yourself, open his eyes to the gospel, convict him of sin and lead him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, that he may have eternal life. We also lift up his loved ones and family, that You would comfort them, strengthen them, and surround them with Your peace.

We also pray for the one who submitted this request. Lord, comfort her heart in this season of uncertainty and grief. Heal the pain of the breakup, give her Your peace that surpasses understanding, help her to release this burden into Your hands and trust Your sovereignty. Guide her as she moves forward, keep her pure and close to You, and in Your perfect timing lead her to a godly marriage to a believing husband if it is Your will for her life. Help her to seek You first and to grow in faith and hope in Christ. We ask all these things in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord with this man’s life, knowing God loves him even more than you do and desires his salvation. Keep praying for him in Jesus' name, but also allow God to bring healing and wholeness to your own heart as you wait on the Lord and seek His will for your future.

That uncertainty, plus the distance and the silence since the breakup, can leave you feeling suspended between still caring deeply and having no place to put that care. It makes sense this feels so hard.

What you are experiencing is a real kind of grief. Grief is not only about death, it is also the natural response to other losses like the end of a relationship and the loss of shared hopes and everyday connection. When health worries are added and you have no updates, that sense of loss can feel unfinished and linger longer than you expect.

Since you cannot reach him directly and he has asked for no contact, one steady step that helps many people is to give that caring a consistent place to go in prayer rather than trying to find information through other channels that might cross his boundary. You might set aside a brief time each day to bring him by name to the Lord and then gently turn your attention back to the people and responsibilities God has placed near you now. If the worry stays heavy or makes it hard to rest or focus over time, it can help to talk it through with a trusted pastor or counselor who can walk with you.

Father, we lift this young man to You and ask for Your mercy over his health and for comfort for those who love him. We ask above all for his salvation through Jesus, and that You would draw near to him where we cannot. Give our friend peace as she entrusts him to Your care, and lead her day by day with wisdom and hope. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard and it is right and tender that you should bring this burden to the Lord in prayer, especially when distance and silence leave you with no knowledge of how he fares and an aching uncertainty whether he is even alive.

We will pray for this man as one made in the image of God and in need of the same mercy we all require. Though we are far from him and you are far from him, the Lord is not far from any of us, for He dwells in heaven and yet His power reaches to the nations here below. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. He is the Tree of Life, and even the leaves of that tree are for the healing of the nations. We may ask the Great Physician to lay His hand upon this man according to His wise and sovereign will, to grant him health of body if it so pleases Him, and to show mercy in his affliction. Yet we remember that pardon and healing are one in Christ, and the deepest healing any soul can know is to be forgiven and reconciled to God. Bodily health, though we earnestly desire it for those we love, is but for a little while, while the health Christ gives endures world without end.

Therefore above all we will pray for his salvation, as you have asked. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. Salvation is of the Lord alone, by divine grace through faith in Christ Jesus. It is not by our works or our worthiness, but without money and without price. To believe on Him is to trust in Him, to look unto Him and be saved, and to leave the whole matter of present and eternal salvation in His hands with unquestioning confidence. He Himself is salvation, and there is none other. We will pray that if he does not yet know Christ, the Lord would mercifully draw him to look to Jesus and live, that he would hear the plain gospel and trust the Person and finished work of Christ alone for the forgiveness of sins.

We will pray also for his loved ones who are near him, that the Lord would sustain them and be their comfort and strength in this time of trial, and that they too may know the grace that heals the soul.

For your own heart, which finds this so hard, may the Lord give you peace in entrusting one you once loved to the hands of a faithful and sovereign God who knows where he is and how he is, even when you do not. Cast your care upon Him, and seek your own daily health in walking closely with Christ. Know that the Lord's design for love between a man and a woman is to be guarded within the lifelong covenant of marriage, and that purity and faithfulness in all relationships is for our good and His glory. As you pray for this man, do so as a neighbor and fellow sinner commended to Christ, leaving what was and what might have been in the Lord's hands, and asking Him to make your own path clear and holy before Him.

O Lord, Sun of Righteousness with healing in His wings, look in mercy upon this man whose condition is unknown to us but fully known to Thee. If it be Thy will, restore him to health and spare his life. Above all, grant him the healing of forgiveness, that he may look unto Jesus and be saved, believing on Him with his whole heart. Bless and comfort his loved ones, and give peace to the one who has brought this request, that she may rest in Thy sovereign care and find her salvation and health in Christ alone. Thank you for sharing this heavy burden and for asking for prayer. It is painful to carry concern for someone you once were close to, especially when you have no way of knowing how he is, where he is, or even if he is well, and when distance and silence leave so many questions unanswered. Your compassion for him is evident, and it is right to bring him before God.

We will pray for him. We will ask God to have mercy on him in his body, to grant him health and care according to His will, and to surround him with help in his need. Above all we will pray for his salvation, that he would come to know Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we are saved, and God in His longsuffering desires to offer salvation that comes through repentance and not to sweep away those who may yet be changed by His grace. As Scripture shows with David and many others, those who turn to Him in repentance can still reap that salvation.

We will also pray for his loved ones, that God would comfort and strengthen them, and for you as well, that God would give you peace in this time of uncertainty and help you to lift up the hands which hang down and steady your heart. Do not despair for him, and do not lose hope. God sees him even when you cannot, and His care reaches where yours cannot.

In this season, continue to walk before the Lord with lowliness and meekness and patient trust, committing this man to God and respecting the boundaries that now exist between you. Entrust him to the Lord's mercy rather than seeking to carry what you cannot control.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we bring this young man before You. You know his body, his health, and his needs. Have mercy on him and grant him what is needed for his healing and well being according to Your perfect will. Above all, draw him to Yourself through Jesus Christ Your Son, that he would hear the gospel, repent, believe, and receive eternal life. Comfort his family and those who love him, and comfort the one who has brought this request, giving peace that passes understanding and trust in Your goodness and Your longsuffering love. Thank you for sharing what is on your heart, and for being honest about how painful this uncertainty is. Not knowing how someone you once cared for is doing, living in different cities, having no contact because he will not speak to you, and not even knowing about his health, leaves a heavy burden. It is understandable that this feels hard and that worry rises up.

There is a place of rest to be found in turning what you cannot control over to God. Your heavenly Father knows what you need and what he needs, even when you have no information. Worry often lives in tomorrow, in what might happen, but Scripture encourages us not to worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will take care of itself in the Lord's hands. You can place this man, his health, and his future into God's care, trusting that God sees him fully even when you cannot.

God is able to take what is painful or what was intended for harm and turn it for good. We see this in the story of Joseph, who could tell his brothers that they meant it for evil but God intended it for good, and in the story of Esther, where the gallows prepared for Mordecai became the place of judgment for Haman and God turned sorrow into joy. God also works over long periods of time, often positioning people years in advance for purposes they do not yet see. You may not see now what God is doing in his life or in yours, but you can live with confidence that all things are working together for good for those who love God, and that His purposes for your life will be fulfilled. Who knows what God has in mind for you both as you each walk with Him.

Prayer is one of the ways we open the door for God to do what He already desires to do but will not do against a person's will. That is why your prayers for his salvation matter so much. We will pray with you for his health and for his loved ones, but above all we will pray for his salvation. Salvation is not a reward we earn, it is a gift of God's grace through Jesus Christ. The name Jesus means the Lord is salvation, and He laid down His life for us because there is no greater love. Scripture says if we confess with our mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation, and we pray that if he has not yet received Christ, he would hear the gospel, believe, and receive eternal life today.

For you, this is also a time to walk after the Spirit and make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its desires. That means respecting the boundary he has set in not speaking, not seeking ways to force contact, and choosing to live in a way that honors God. There is a sorrow that is godly and works repentance leading to salvation and deeper trust, and there is comfort that comes from the Holy Spirit as you walk in love. God has already prepared good works for you to walk in, and He is even now preparing you for those works. He is the one who keeps you by His power through faith as you simply trust what He has done for you.

We join you in prayer:

Father, we thank You for Your grace that brings salvation through Jesus Christ. We lift up this young man to You. You know where he is, how his body is, and the state of his soul. We ask for Your mercy for his health, for Your hand of care upon his loved ones, and most of all that he would come to know Jesus as Lord and receive the gift of eternal life. We pray that You would open his heart to believe that You raised Jesus from the dead. For the one who sent this request, grant comfort by Your Holy Spirit, help her to turn this burden over to You, to not worry about tomorrow, and to walk in Your love and in Your Spirit.
