Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me. I miss my ex so much. He is not a Christian and we can't be together and God has shown that He does not want me in this relationship. Thank you.

We hear your heart and we grieve with you in this season of missing and letting go, and we commend you for your obedience in recognizing that God does not want you in this relationship. It takes great courage and faith to step away from someone you still care for deeply because you want to honor the Lord above your own feelings, and we want to pray with you and stand with you as you walk through this healing.

God's Word is very clear about why He calls His children not to be bound together with those who do not believe, for it says in 2 Corinthians 6:14 Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? This is not because God wants to withhold love from you, but because He knows that a marriage is meant to be a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman who together pursue Christ, and when two people do not share that foundation of faith, their most important purposes and values will be divided. We encourage you to see this obedience not as a loss of what could have been, but as protection and preparation for the godly marriage God desires for you. When the time is right, we pray you will pursue courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer who loves the Lord and will lead and cherish you in a way that honors Him.

We know the ache you feel right now is real, and God does not minimize your sorrow. He promises in Psalm 34:18 Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And in Psalm 147:3 He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We encourage you to bring every wave of missing and loneliness to Him, to trust Him with your future even when you cannot see it. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

We also noticed your request mentions God but does not mention Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and find true healing and salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to keep drawing near to God through faith in Jesus, believing that He died and rose again for you, for it is in His name that our prayers are heard and our hearts are made whole.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift our sister to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for her heart that wants to obey You even in pain. We ask You to comfort her in her missing and to heal her broken heart, to bind up her wounds and to fill the empty places with Your presence and peace. Give her strength to not turn back to what You have closed, guard her heart and her purity, and help her to keep her eyes fixed on You. Renew her hope and remind her that You have good plans for her. Lead her in Your timing to a godly husband who loves You first, so that she may enter into a marriage that glorifies You. Help her to trust You with all her heart and to know Your nearness each day. We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus, our only Savior and hope, amen.

We hear how heavy this feels. Thank you for being honest about missing him and also about choosing to step away because you sensed God leading you elsewhere. Holding both truths at once takes real courage, and it makes sense that your heart still aches.

Missing someone does not mean you made the wrong choice. Grief often lingers after obedience, especially when companionship and daily connection are gone. Loneliness can come in waves, and it does not mean you are failing.

One thing that has helped others in this kind of season is to plan for the lonely moments before they hit. When the evenings or weekends feel empty, having a simple next step ready can help, like texting a trusted friend, going for a walk while praying, or showing up consistently where God's people gather. Worship with others in particular can gently lift that sense of isolation, reminding you that you are part of a larger family, not facing this alone.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus name. You see the loneliness and the ache of missing this relationship. Bring comfort, steady our friend's heart, and give clear wisdom and peace for each day ahead. Surround them with caring community and draw them close to Your presence. Amen.

Your prayer is heard, and there is much grace evident in it, for you have chosen the way of obedience though it costs your heart dearly. To feel the ache of missing one you have loved and still to say, let the Lord's will be done, is no small thing. Obedience is the highest practical courage, and to persist in scrupulous obedience throughout life may need more courage than even the martyr evinces when once and for all he gives himself to be faithful. The Lord sees that courage in you now.

You have judged rightly according to the Word, for it says, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. The exactness of obedience is the essence of obedience, to turn not from it to the right hand or to the left. The world says we must not be too precise, but the sincere soul seeks to know the Lord's will and bows reverently before the Most High saying, What would You have me to do. That desire to keep close to the Divine mind, personally and scrupulously, is the mark of true sincerity, and the Lord will honour it. No man is really saved unless he is in his heart obedient to Christ, and that obedience must be wholehearted and complete, the obedience of a child, the obedience of love and of faith, not of dread.

Know also that the way of obedience is the way of reward and of refreshment. As the women went to bring word as they were commanded, Jesus met them, and that was the cheering salutation with which the risen Saviour rewarded their obedience. So as you go on your Master's errand, though with tears, you may expect that He will meet you there. Before you go forth again you shall be made calm and happy in the Lord, for He gives assuring satisfaction to those who keep His way.

There is healing for the wound that now pains you. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction, and when the Lord comes and dwells with His people the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings. He can heal the broken heart while He cleanses the conscience, and His healing virtue will work in you till you are restored.

Let us pray for you. O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this thy servant who mourns a loss keenly felt. Thou knowest the sorrow of a tender heart and the struggle to obey at cost to self. Grant fresh strength to continue in exact obedience, keep the feet in the middle path and not turning aside. Let faith be lord of the understanding and the paramount principle of action. Pour out the healing virtue of Christ upon the wounded spirit, give pardon and healing together, and let the peaceable fruits of righteousness be yielded in due season. Keep this thy child from returning to that which Thou hast shown to be not of Thee, and in Thy good time, according to Thy perfect will, provide that which is according to Thy Word and for Thy glory. Comfort with Thy presence, assure with Thy love, and let obedience be refreshed with joy in Christ. Amen.
