The Gospel of Health
Your physical health deeply shapes your spiritual life and demands careful stewardship of both body and soul.
We hear the honesty in your heart and we join with you in this moment of longing and we bring your ache before the Lord together in Jesus name. It is painful to miss someone you once were close to and God sees that loneliness and He cares deeply for you. He is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those who have a crushed spirit as Psalm 34:18 reminds us and He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds as Psalm 147:3 promises.

We also hear the important truth you shared that he is not a Christian and we want to lovingly speak biblical wisdom into that longing. The Lord warns us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity or what communion has light with darkness as taught in 2 Corinthians 6:14. This is not because God wants to withhold love from you but because He wants to protect you. Marriage as God designed it is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that reflects Christ and the church and it is meant to be built on shared faith and shared pursuit of Him. A boyfriend and girlfriend relationship should be understood as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, not simply companionship or emotional comfort. To return to a relationship with someone who does not know Christ would pull your heart in two directions and make it difficult to walk wholeheartedly with the Lord. We gently rebuke the pull to go back to what God is calling you away from and we encourage you to guard your heart as Proverbs 4:23 teaches and to trust the Lord with all your heart and not lean on your own understanding as Proverbs 3:5-6 says.

If there was physical intimacy in that past relationship we also want to lovingly remind you what Scripture teaches, that any sexual intimacy outside of marriage is fornication and God calls His children to flee sexual immorality as 1 Corinthians 6:18 teaches, because our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. If that has been part of your story we encourage you to bring it to the Lord in confession and receive His complete forgiveness and cleansing as 1 John 1:9 promises, and to commit to purity going forward as you wait for a godly husband.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus and we want to share why His name matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me in John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men by which we must be saved as Acts 4:12 declares. To know God, to have prayer heard, and to have eternal life we must put our trust in Jesus Christ who died for our sins and rose again. If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved as Romans 10:9 teaches. We encourage you to rest in Him as your Savior and to bring every prayer to the Father in Jesus name.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven we lift our sister to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask You to comfort her in this wave of missing her ex and to fill the empty place with Your presence and peace which surpasses all understanding as Philippians 4:6-7 promises. Help her to cast all her anxiety on You because You care for her. Give her strength to not turn back to an unequally yoked relationship but to wait on Your perfect plan. We pray for her ex as well, that You would draw him to salvation and open his eyes to the gospel, but we pray she would entrust him to Your hands and not seek to be his way back to God through a romantic relationship. Prepare for her, in Your timing, a godly husband who loves You first and will love her as Christ loves the church and lead a marriage that honors You. Heal her heart, renew her mind, surround her with believing community and help her to delight herself in You and trust that You know the plans You have for her, plans for peace and not for evil to give her hope and a future as Jeremiah 29:11 teaches. Cleanse, forgive, restore and guide her steps each day. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to stay close to the Lord in prayer and in His Word, to stay connected to other believers who can support you when loneliness comes, and to use this season to grow deeper in Christ. The feelings of missing him will come and go but God is steady and He will carry you through. We are praying with you to seek first His Kingdom and to trust He will provide what is best in His perfect time.

Thank you for being so honest about missing your ex. That tug you feel does not mean you failed or that you are going backwards, it is often just grief and loneliness surfacing, and it is understandable to feel it strongly at times.

We are glad you reached out instead of holding it alone. One thing that has helped others in this kind of season is having a simple plan for when the wave hits. Maybe decide ahead of time who you will text or call, take a walk, or spend a few minutes in prayer, rather than scrolling or reaching out to him in the moment. And staying close to community helps more than we expect. Being in worship regularly and with a couple of trusted friends who know you can make the lonely evenings less heavy. You do not have to sort the whole future out tonight, just the next faithful step in front of you.

We are praying for you and will keep praying.

Father, we lift our friend to You tonight. You see the loneliness and the missing and how real the ache feels. We ask You to bring comfort and steady peace, to give wisdom for each decision, and to draw her close to Your presence. Heal what still hurts and gently guide her steps according to Your will. In Jesus name, amen.

Your honest confession has been heard, and I thank you for bringing it before the Lord and before His people in such plainness. The ache you feel is real, and it is not hidden from Him who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds.

It is no small thing to miss one whom you have loved, and that very tenderness of heart which makes the missing so keen is itself known to God. Yet that longing, though it is felt so strongly, is not of itself a guide for the path you should take. The heart often craves what would be its poison, and therefore we must bring our affections to be tried by the Word of God.

You have spoken truly that he is not a Christian, and there your own conscience has given you light. The Scripture says, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. That yoke was given not to grieve you but to guard you. To cast it off may seem for a moment to be liberty, but as one has said, he who breaks the yoke of wood soon finds he must wear a yoke of iron. The sorrow of an unequally yoked life is far heavier and longer than the sorrow of a present parting, and that first loss, though it be painful now, will be vastly less than the after losses you would incur by seeking to avoid it.

Do not think that this pain must be borne alone or in your own strength. There is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ, and not only His fruit but even the leaves of that blessed Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. His blood pardons and His grace heals, and He can change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. Look to Him now, not to the return of an old affection, for your comfort. Seek after Christ first, and peace will come next. Peace comes by believing, and when the soul trusts Him and loves Him, there it finds Him.

You do well to pray, Lead us not into temptation. That prayer is not only to be spoken but to be lived. He who prays it and then goes wilfully into the place of temptation contradicts his own prayer. If the sight or the message or the memory stirs the old longing, turn then to prayer, to the Word, to the company of faithful friends, and ask the Lord to keep you from falling. He will not suffer you to be tried above what you are able to bear, and with the trial He will make a way of escape.

Let us pray for you now.

O Father, merciful and faithful, hear this Thy child who sorrows. Thou knowest the tender longing and the loneliness of this hour. Forgive all sin and wash the heart in the precious blood of Thy Son. Spread Thy healing leaves over this wounded spirit and give health and cure. Grant a deeper trust in Christ, that believing Thou mayest fill the heart with joy and peace. Keep this dear one from temptation, guard the feet from turning aside, and give strength to walk in obedience even when the heart is heavy. We ask not that Thou wouldst bless what Thou hast called us to forsake, but that Thou wouldst bless obedience with contentment and with nearness to Thyself. And we pray for the one who is yet without Christ, that if it be Thy will Thou wouldst have mercy upon him and bring him to salvation through Jesus alone, not for our comfort but for Thy glory. Make both to know that salvation is in Christ alone, and that Thou art the God of all comfort. In the name of Jesus our Healer and our Peace, Amen.

Be much in prayer and in the Word, and lean upon the Lord day by day. He who has begun a good work will perfect it, and He will not leave you comfortless.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this honestly and for asking for prayer. Missing someone you cared for deeply is painful, and it is understandable that those feelings come in waves even when you know the relationship was not heading in a healthy direction spiritually.

We are praying for you, not that God would restore a romantic relationship with someone who does not share faith in Christ, but that He would give you comfort, strength and clarity in this season. Scripture teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone and that marriage is meant to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman where love, commitment and physical intimacy belong together within that covenant. For that reason God warns against being unequally yoked, not to keep good things from us, but to protect us and to call us toward relationships that can be fully shared in faith and purpose.

God sees your longing and He is not distant from it. At times He allows the ache of temptation and loneliness to draw us closer to Him, so that we learn to flee to Him for refuge and to remain there. He is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, but with the temptation He will also provide the way to endure it. That way is often found in persevering prayer, in staying close to other believers, and in filling your mind and days with what strengthens faith.

We are asking God to meet you in this ache, to quiet the missing with His presence, to heal the places that still feel attached, and to help you persevere in prayer even when answers feel delayed. We are also praying for your ex, that God would draw him to Himself and bring him to saving faith in Jesus, as God desires all to come to know Him, and we pray that you would have wisdom about boundaries, communication and community support so you are not walking through this alone.

A prayer for you: Father, thank You that You know this heart and this hurt. Draw near as refuge and comfort. Give strength to endure this longing, grace to trust Your good purposes, and peace that guards heart and mind in Christ. Lead toward healing, toward wise choices, and toward a deeper love for You above all else. Guide both lives according to Your will and bring salvation where it is needed. In Jesus name, amen.

If the missing grows intense, reach out to a trusted pastor or mature believer, stay rooted in Scripture and in regular prayer with others, and keep bringing every feeling honestly to God. He hears and He will sustain you.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about missing your ex. That ache is real, and it is understandable that you feel it. What you are describing is common to all of us, and you are not alone in facing it.

It helps to see this kind of longing for what it is. A temptation is any situation that pulls you toward responding according to the flesh instead of according to the Spirit, and in every temptation you have a choice about which way you will walk. God does not entice anyone toward what is wrong. That pull comes from our own desires and from the one who solicits us to evil, often by promising immediate relief or fulfillment if we will just step off God's path for a moment.

There is no sin simply in feeling tempted or in feeling the sadness and missing. Even Jesus was tempted and understands that pressure, yet He did not give in. Sin comes when desire is allowed to conceive and we yield to it. That is why Scripture says how happy is the one who endures temptation, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Enduring is not wasted. The testing of faith in these seasons works patience in us, and patience is so often where we fail because waiting on God is hard.

God is faithful in this. He does not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to bear, and with every temptation He makes a way of escape so you can bear it. But you must take that way when He shows it. My own experience and the testimony of many others is that the escape is there, a quiet prompting to turn away, to put down the phone, to stop revisiting old messages or memories, to pray, to open the Word. If we linger, the pull grows stronger. If we act quickly, He gives strength.

That is why the example of Joseph is so helpful. When faced with strong and repeated pressure, he did not try to negotiate with the temptation, he ran from it. It takes more courage to run than to give in, and people may misunderstand, but fleeing what would draw you back into what is not right is wisdom. For you, that may mean taking practical steps to flee youthful and emotional temptations, guarding what you look at and listen to, limiting contact, and filling your mind with the Word of God, which is our greatest strength in temptation. Delighting in His Word day by day renews the mind where temptation begins.

In your situation there is another important truth. God calls His people to be joined together in faith, and marriage is His design as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman where intimacy and life together belong. To be romantically bound to someone who does not know Jesus is to be pulled in two different directions at the deepest level. Scripture teaches that if an unbelieving spouse chooses to leave, the believer is not under bondage in that case, for God has called us to peace. How much more should one who is not yet married not seek to be bound to one who does not believe. That does not mean God does not love your ex. He does, and we can pray for his salvation, that he would come to know Jesus Christ as the only way of salvation. But love for him does not mean resuming a romantic relationship that would lead you away from obedience.

So I will pray for you, not that God would bless a return to that relationship, but that He would heal your heart, give you peace, and make you strong to endure. I pray that He would teach you patience as you wait on Him, that He would show you clearly the way of escape each time the missing grows intense and give you courage to take it quickly, and that He would fill you with His Spirit so you can walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh. I also pray for your ex, that God would draw him to Himself and that he would come to faith in Jesus.

If the ache comes again, bring it honestly to the Lord. Tell Him you miss what you miss, ask Him to help you choose His way in that moment, and turn to something that builds you up in Him. He is with you in this trial and He will give you victory in the midst of it as you trust Him one step at a time.
