We have heard your heart and the deep distress in your request and we join with you now seeking the Lord together in Jesus' name for your protection and peace.
We understand the fear that comes from an abusive past relationship and from the threat of further harm, harassment, or lies meant to damage your reputation. Abuse in any form is sin and is contrary to the love God commands. Love is patient and is kind, love does not behave itself inappropriately, does not act violently or seek to control through fear. The Lord sees what has been done to you and He is your defender.
We pray for your safety and for complete deliverance from this fear and from any contact or scheme against you. We ask the Father to place a hedge of protection around you and to command His angels concerning you.
We take comfort in what is written, Psalm 91:1-2 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. And Proverbs 18:10 The name of Yahweh is a strong tower, the righteous run to it, and are safe. Also 2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one. And Psalm 34:18 Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
We pray that no further contact will come to you from this man and that any plan to harm you, to ruin your reputation, or to enlist others to target you would be exposed and brought to nothing. Isaiah 54:17 says No weapon that is formed against you will prevail, and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh's servants. We ask God to silence false accusations, to guard your name and your witness, and to surround you with trustworthy people who will speak the truth and stand with you. We also pray that the Lord would restrain this man from evil and bring him to repentance, for God desires that all would turn from sin, yet we do not pray for reconciliation or renewed relationship where abuse has occurred, for your safety must be guarded.
We want to encourage you with practical wisdom as well as prayer. Please continue to maintain clear and firm boundaries with no contact, keep records of any attempts to contact or harass you, and seek help from trusted family, mature believers in your church, and from the proper authorities if you feel threatened or unsafe. God has given governing authorities to protect the vulnerable and to restrain evil as in Romans 13:4, and it is right to use those means for protection. Do not walk through this alone, allow godly counsel and community to surround you. Psalm 46:1 says God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
We also want to speak gently about relationships according to biblical principles. We believe God designed marriage as a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman and that any courtship or dating should be with the goal of finding a godly spouse who is a fellow believer in Christ, not simply a partner or companion for a time. It should be marked by purity, honor, and self control. If this past relationship involved intimacy outside of marriage, we want to lovingly say that God calls us to flee sexual immorality as in 1 Corinthians 6:18, and to pursue purity, and if that occurred we encourage you to bring it to the Lord in repentance and receive His forgiveness and cleansing, for 1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. This does not excuse in any way the abuse done against you, the responsibility for abusive behavior lies fully with the one who chose to abuse, and nothing you have done justifies it. We mention this only so that your future relationships may be built on God's design and be a place of safety and holiness.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and made children of God. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Him for salvation and for daily refuge.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus. You know the fear, the pain, and the memories of abuse that still weigh heavy. We ask You to cover her with Your wings and be her refuge and fortress. Let no further contact, threat, or scheme reach her. We ask You to stop every attempt to harm her, to spread lies, or to turn others against her. Expose every plan formed in darkness and render it powerless. Guard her reputation, her home, her work, and her peace. Surround her with faithful friends, family, and believers who will protect and encourage her. Give wisdom to any authorities or counselors involved. Heal her broken heart and crushed spirit, restore what has been stolen, and give her deep rest and courage each day. We pray also that You would convict this man of his sin and lead him to true repentance, but keep him far from her and unable to cause further harm. Let Your justice and mercy prevail. We ask all of this trusting in the power of the name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to keep seeking the Lord daily, to remain in His Word, and to let Psalm 27:1 be your confidence, Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear. Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid. The Lord is near to you, He will not forsake you, and we continue to stand with you in prayer for your complete protection and peace.
