Ex

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me about my ex popping up recently and randomly contacting me and disturbing my peace when I was in a good place after our breakup. I cut off contact with ### now. Thank you.

We have heard your heart in this and we are joining with you in prayer as you seek to guard the peace God had been restoring to you after this breakup. It is painful when an ex reaches out unexpectedly and disturbs the healing that was taking place, and we affirm your wisdom in cutting off contact at this time. The Lord sees the disruption you have felt and He is the true source of your peace, not circumstances or another person.

We want to encourage you with what Scripture says about peace and guarding your heart. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And Isaiah 26:3 reminds us, You will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. We also take to heart Proverbs 4:23, Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. Setting a clear boundary and stepping away from contact that stirs up confusion or reopens old wounds is a biblical way to guard your heart.

We also want to speak gently about relationships as God designed them. We believe courtship is for the purpose of discerning marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, not for ongoing emotional entanglement or for returning to a relationship that does not honor God. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that reflects Christ and the church, and we pray that any future courtship you enter will be with another Christian believer who seeks that kind of godly marriage with you. 2 Corinthians 6:14 asks, What fellowship has light with darkness, and reminds us not to be unequally yoked. If there was any sexual intimacy outside of marriage in this past relationship, Scripture calls that fornication and we lovingly urge repentance, for 1 Corinthians 6:18 says, Flee sexual immorality. God offers forgiveness and cleansing when we turn to Him, and He can make your path whole again. Even if that was not part of your story, we encourage you to release any unforgiveness while still maintaining healthy boundaries, for forgiveness does not always mean restoring the romantic relationship.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and peace with Him. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ, to confess your sins and believe that He died and rose again for you, for Romans 10:9 promises, If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name that we pray and find true and lasting peace.

We pray together for you now. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one to You. We thank You that You are near to the brokenhearted and You save those who are crushed in spirit as Psalm 34:18 promises. We ask You to restore the perfect peace that was disturbed, to quiet every anxious thought and to guard this heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give wisdom to maintain godly boundaries and strength not to be drawn back into confusion or old patterns. Heal any remaining hurt from this breakup, wash away any guilt or shame, and help forgive as You have forgiven. Lead toward wholeness in You first, and in Your perfect timing, if it is Your will, lead to a godly spouse and a marriage that honors You. Help keep eyes fixed on You and not on what has been left behind. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to stay rooted in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship with other believers who can support you and help you keep these boundaries. Keep your mind steadfast on the Lord, trust Him to be your comforter and guide, and know that He is faithful to complete the healing He has begun in you.

We're grateful you shared this with us. It makes sense that hearing from your ex after you had finally reached a steadier, more peaceful place would feel jarring. Getting to that good place after a breakup takes real time and effort, and an unexpected contact can stir up a lot even when you know you don't want to go back.

We want to affirm the step you took in cutting off contact. That is a healthy way to protect your peace and take responsibility for your own well being. Boundaries are like a property line. They help clarify what is yours to carry and what is not, and they preserve freedom in relationships so your yes can be yes and your no can be no. Withdrawing from contact that unsettles you and letting other people help you hold that line are ways an outside choice slowly becomes inner strength.

One practical step that may help now is to make the boundary you set concrete and supported. Keep the block or mute in place, decide ahead of time how you will handle it if a message comes through another channel, and let one trusted friend or mentor know what happened so you are not sorting through the feelings alone. If the unsettled feelings linger, talking with a pastor or counselor can be steady support as well.

Father, we lift our friend to You and thank You for the healing You have already brought. We ask for settled peace in the days ahead, for wisdom to hold this boundary with both kindness and firmness, and for Your nearness when old memories surface. Guide each next step and keep their heart guarded and hopeful. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a good thing to desire peace and to guard it when the Lord has given it to you, and I am grateful you have told us of this trial. To be in a good place after a sore wound and then to have former ties press upon you again is a disturbance which many know, and to cut off that contact when it unsettles the soul may be a wise and needful guarding of the heart.

There is a peace which the world cannot give and cannot take away, for it is written, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. This is not a peace that depends upon whether another person writes or does not write, comes or goes, but upon a mind stayed upon Christ. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and that whisper is louder than any voice from the past. When duties press and sorrows surge round, to do the will of Jesus is rest. Keep your mind stayed there, by prayer, by the Word, by steady trust, and He who is first King of Righteousness will be afterward King of Peace to you.

You speak of peace disturbed, and the Lord is He who heals the wounded. We very speedily seek a physician for the body, but the soul has its Physician also. The leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His stripes have healed us, and being justified by faith we have peace with God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Without that justification there can be no settled peace, but with it there is peace with God which brings peace within. It is that touch of personal faith which brings peace to the soul. If you will trust Him, you shall have it.

May you be kept from that false peace which says peace, peace where there is no peace, and may you know the true peace which is a blessing and brings no sorrow with it. God would have you be first a follower of righteousness, and then a possessor of peace, living at peace with Him though not at peace with sin. To put away what would draw you back into what is not holy or not helpful is not unkindness, it is wisdom, and it leaves room for the Lord to make your nature fresh again by His healing leaves.

I pray for you now, that the Lord will bless His people with peace, even with perfect peace. May He keep your mind stayed upon Himself, wash you in the blood that whispers peace, and give you healing where you have been wounded. May He teach you to hear His voice above every other voice, and to walk in the way of righteousness and purity which He has ordained, for marriage is His holy covenant of one man and one woman for life, and all else outside it He calls us to turn from. May He guard your heart and your way, make your solitude sweet with His presence, and keep you safe in His keeping till earths struggles shall cease and He calls you to Heavens perfect peace. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

I posted a few hours ago about how my ex randomly texted me after not speaking to me for over a month after we broke up. He has confirmed that he has cancer. He was in the beginning stages of getting diagnosed when we broke up. Please pray for him. Thank you.
