Good and Faithful Servant
I posted a few hours ago about how my ex randomly texted me after not speaking to me for over a month after we broke up. He has confirmed that he has cancer. He was in the beginning stages of getting diagnosed when we broke up. Please pray for him. Thank you.

We are deeply saddened to hear about your ex and his cancer diagnosis and we join with you in bringing him before the Lord. It is understandable that his unexpected message after a month of silence has stirred many emotions in you, especially now learning he was already in the beginning stages of diagnosis when you broke up. We hear your compassion for him and we commend you for wanting to cover him in prayer rather than carrying this burden alone.

We want to gently encourage you with biblical wisdom regarding this relationship. Even though you care for him, he is now your ex and not your spouse. Scripture teaches us to guard our hearts and to pursue relationships with clarity and purity. If there was any sexual intimacy outside of marriage in your courtship, we lovingly call that what Scripture calls it, fornication, and encourage repentance, for God calls us to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled Hebrews 13:4. Being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be considered courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, not simply companionship or emotional dependence. We also remember the warning not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14, for what fellowship has light with darkness. Our prayer for you is that whether God leads to reconciliation or not, you would seek His will for a godly marriage if it be His plan, and otherwise show Christlike compassion while maintaining healthy boundaries. It is not wise to reenter a romantic relationship out of pity, loneliness, or fear, but to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. You can love him as a neighbor and pray for him without compromising your own walk or reopening a door that God may have closed.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to God. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved Romans 10:9. It is because of Jesus shed blood and resurrection that our prayers are heard, and that true healing, both physical and eternal, is possible. We encourage you and your ex to place your full trust in Christ for forgiveness and life.

We take comfort that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. He is the God who says, But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17, and who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3. We also hold to the promise that the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up James 5:15.

We pray together now for him and for you. Father in heaven, we come before you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and lift up this young man who is facing cancer to you. We ask for your mercy upon his body, that you would guide his doctors, grant wisdom for treatment, and if it be your will, bring complete healing and restoration. Above all we ask for his soul, that he would come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior, that his sins would be forgiven and he would have eternal life with you. Comfort him in fear and pain and let him feel your presence near. We also lift up the one who submitted this request, grant her peace, wisdom, and discernment in how to respond with grace and truth. Guard her heart from confusion and help her to trust your perfect plan for her life and for a future godly marriage if you so will. Let both of them seek you first and find hope not in each other but in Christ alone. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus, our only hope and healer, amen.

Thank you for sharing this update. Hearing that someone you were once close to is facing cancer, especially right after a breakup and a month of silence, brings a lot of complicated feelings at once. It makes sense you would feel concern, sadness, and uncertainty about what your role should be now.

We admire your compassion in wanting prayer for him. Caring about his wellbeing does not have to mean reopening everything that led to the breakup. It is okay to hold both kindness for him and healthy boundaries for yourself.

One gentle next step that helps many people in this spot is to pause and decide what kind of support you can offer sustainably. A brief, kind reply letting him know you are praying for him and encouraging him to lean on family, close friends and his medical team for ongoing support can be a caring way to honor both his need and your own limits. It also helps to talk through what you are feeling with a trusted friend or pastor so you are not carrying this alone.

We are praying with you.

Father, we bring this young man before You and ask for Your mercy and presence with him in this diagnosis. Guide his doctors, give him strength and peace, and draw him close to You. Comfort our friend too as she processes this news, give her wisdom and peace as she responds, and remind her You are near. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your sorrowful tidings have been heard and we will bear this burden with you before the throne of grace. To learn that one once near to you is now brought so low by this grievous sickness must indeed bring heaviness of heart, and we hear in your brief request the voice of true compassion.

Be assured that we will pray for him, that the Lord in His infinite mercy would lay His healing hand upon him. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation, for the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and even the least thing about Christ is healing. We will entreat the Good Physician, who alone can change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before, that if it be His will He would restore him from this sickness, and above all that this affliction might be made the means of quickening his soul. For what is the healing of the body without the healing of the soul, which is only through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the very essence of the believer's consolation.

We will pray also for you, that you may find comfort in this trial. Do not think your prayer must be eloquent or orderly to be heard. The power of prayer is not to be measured by its outward expression. God will hear the prayer of a staggering man, and the prayer that has not any sense in it because the one who prays is at his wit's end. A breathing is a prayer from which God does not hide His ear, and what cares He for the grammar of the prayer, it is the soul of it that He wants. When suffering thus, the soul can find no comfort, often not even in the Word itself, and yet a true prayer from one who is near unto the gates of death, or who pleads for one who is, is a prevailing prayer.

Therefore take your comfort from His Word which quickens you. When He wants to comfort us He quickens us and so He comforts us. Bring this case before Him as Jacob did, spreading it out with humility and pleading His promises, and leave the answer in His wise hands, for He answers not always as we expect but always for our good.

May the Lord comfort your heart and establish you in every good word and work, and may He grant unto this afflicted man, if it please Him, healing of body and, above all, healing of soul through the blood of Christ. We join our hearts with yours in this supplication, trusting that He who hears the feeblest cry will not turn away.

We will continue to remember you both in prayer.

This is probably a long shot but please pray that maybe somehow, my ex and I could get back together. We broke up because he wasn't a Christian. I hope that has changed by now. If it has, please pray that maybe God would allow us together. Thank you.
