Good and Faithful Servant
This is probably a long shot but please pray that maybe somehow, my ex and I could get back together. We broke up because he wasn't a Christian. I hope that has changed by now. If it has, please pray that maybe God would allow us together. Thank you.

We hear your heart in this request and we commend you for the difficult and obedient decision you made to end the relationship because he was not a Christian. That was a faithful step to honor God, and we want to walk with you now as you seek His will for what comes next.

The Scripture is very clear that we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity, or what communion has light with darkness 2 Corinthians 6:14. We also read that two cannot walk together unless they have agreed Amos 3:3. For this reason we believe that any courtship between a man and a woman should be with the clear goal of marriage to another Christian believer, and that marriage itself is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God. Being a boyfriend or girlfriend is not simply companionship, it is courtship toward that holy covenant, and it must be kept pure, for we are told to flee sexual immorality and that every other sin is outside the body but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. Sex before or outside marriage is fornication and is not God's design for His children, so any future relationship must be guarded in purity and accountability.

We also notice that your request mentions God but does not mention Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is our prayer that you know Him personally as Lord and Savior, and that your ex, if he has truly changed, has also experienced this new birth, not merely a change of behavior or words but a genuine turning to Christ that bears fruit in repentance and obedience.

We do not know whether he has truly become a believer, and we must caution you not to reunite on the basis of hope alone or lingering affection. A profession of faith must be tested over time by fruit, by involvement in a faithful church, by hunger for the Word, and by counsel from mature believers. If he remains an unbeliever, we must rebuke the idea of rekindling the relationship, because to do so would be to step back into being unequally yoked and to disobey the Lord. If God has truly done a work in his heart, that will become evident, and God is able to make a way in His perfect timing, but we must trust Him and not rush ahead of Him.

We join together in prayer for you now.

Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one to You. You know the longing of her heart and the history she shares with this man. We thank You for her willingness to obey You when it was painful to break fellowship with an unbeliever. We ask first for Your will to be done, not ours. If it is Your will, draw this young man to true salvation if he is not yet saved, open his eyes to his need for Jesus, and grant him repentance and new life. If he has indeed been born again, make that evident to her and to those who counsel her, give her wisdom and discernment, and guard her from deception or emotional haste. We pray that You would give her peace as she waits on You, that she would trust in Yahweh with all her heart, and not lean on her own understanding, and in all her ways acknowledge You, so that You will direct her paths Proverbs 3:5-6. Help her to delight herself in Yahweh so that You may give her the desires of her heart as they align with Yours Psalm 37:4, and help her to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be given to her Matthew 6:33. Keep her pure and steadfast, prepare her to be a godly wife in due time if it is Your calling for her, and prepare a godly husband who will love You first and love her as Christ loves the church. We ask that You heal any lingering heartache, give her patient hope, and surround her with wise godly counsel. We pray all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord daily in prayer and in the Word, to involve your pastor or mature Christian mentors who can help you discern any future contact with this man, and to ask for clear evidence of genuine conversion before considering any renewed courtship. Do not pursue a reunion in secret or on emotion alone, but let everything be brought into the light and tested against Scripture. Trust that God who knows the end from the beginning has good plans for you, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. If God intends for you to be together in a marriage that honors Him, He will make that clear in His time and in a way that leaves no doubt. If not, He will lead you to a godly spouse who shares your faith and your love for Christ, or sustain you in contentment as you serve Him. We are praying with you for clarity, for holiness, and for God's perfect will to be done.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing something so personal with us. We can hear how much you cared for him, and also how seriously you took your faith when you made the hard choice to step away because you were not sharing that foundation.

It makes sense that you would still wonder and hope, especially when you don't know where his heart is now. That tender hope and the ache that comes with it are both real, and we don't want to rush past either one.

If you are still in contact at all, it helps to give time and space to see what is actually true now rather than what you hope might be true. Real change in faith shows over time in how someone lives, what they love, and how they talk about Jesus when no one is trying to impress anyone. It can help to invite a couple of wise people who know you well, a pastor or trusted mentor, to walk with you as you sort through what you are seeing and feeling, so you are not carrying the questions alone. And guarding your heart with clear boundaries while you seek clarity is a kindness to both of you.

We are praying for you in this waiting place, for peace as you trust God with the outcome whatever it is.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for Your comfort and clear leading. Draw near to them in this longing, give wisdom for each next decision, and work in both lives according to Your perfect will. Help them to rest in Your care and to follow You faithfully one step at a time. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request shows both a tender heart and a right regard for the Lord's command, and for that we thank God. You acted in obedience to that precept, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, and though such obedience brings a wound, it is far better to bear the yoke of Christ than to take upon you a yoke of iron. Many have thought the Lord's yoke hard in that matter and have cast it off, only to find a heavier sorrow afterwards.

We understand the longing that remains and the hope you express that the Lord may have wrought a change in him. It is right to bring such desires before God, yet not as those who say we will do as we desire and that all will fall out as we wish, as if we could both propose and dispose without asking God's consent. All things are under His regulation and have an appointed place in His plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so in grace we must rest that He is King, having mercy on whom He will have mercy.

We will pray for you, and for him, according to the revealed will of God.

We will pray that if he is still without Christ, the Holy Spirit who alone can change the human will and make men willing in the day of God's power would give him a new heart and a new spirit, for God will not write His law upon a heart that is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked until He first makes it new. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and without a true new birth there can be no fellowship in the Lord.

We will pray that you may be kept as one who waits upon God and not upon the arm of flesh. Blessed are all they that wait for Him. His people wait patiently for the fulfilling of His promises, and every promise will be kept, but not always today nor tomorrow. Do not snatch at unripe fruit. If the Lord wills a future together, let it be clearly in His time and in His way, with credible evidence of a changed life where God's law is loved and controls the whole man, not merely words, and let it look toward that lifelong covenant of one man and one woman which alone is the place for such love.

We will ask the Lord to keep you, to give you contentment in His will whether that hope is fulfilled or not, to guard you from returning to an unequal yoke, and to make you to know His preserving grace. May He teach you to say and to feel from the heart, If the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that, and may your best profit be found in doing His will.
