We hear the longing in your heart and we commend you for making the difficult but obedient decision to end a courtship with an unbeliever. That was not easy, but it was honoring to God. Scripture says in 2 Corinthians 6:14, Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? To walk away from a relationship that could not lead to a Christ centered marriage shows maturity and faith, and we want to encourage you in that obedience.
We also notice your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus, and we want to gently share why that matters so much to us. We only have access to the Father through Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 we are told, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If your ex has truly become a Christian, it means he has confessed with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believed in his heart that God raised Him from the dead as Romans 10:9 teaches, and that same faith is what saves us and reconciles us to God. It is only in Jesus name that we can bring this request before God, and we want to be sure you know that wonderful hope for yourself as well.
We understand the hope that maybe his heart has changed, and we join you in praying for God's perfect will above our own desires. We do not see any reunion as a long shot with God, for nothing is impossible with Him, but we also know His will is always better than our wishes. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We thank You for this dear one who desires to honor You in relationships and in marriage. We ask first that You would guard her heart and give her peace as she waits on You. Help her to delight herself in You, trusting the promise of Psalm 37:4 that as she delights in You, You will give her the desires of her heart according to Your will. Lord, we lift up her former boyfriend to You. If he does not yet know You, we pray that You would draw him to salvation through Jesus, that he would repent and truly be born again. If he has professed faith, we pray that You would make that faith evident by its fruit, for Matthew 7:16 says, By their fruits you will know them. Give her wisdom and discernment to see the truth clearly, not through the lens of old feelings but through Your Spirit and Your Word. If it is Your will for a courtship to be renewed with the goal of a godly marriage between a man and a woman that honors You for a lifetime, then we pray You would open that door in Your timing and in a way that is unmistakably from You, with wise counsel and purity. If it is not Your will, we pray You would close the door gently, heal any lingering attachment, and prepare her heart for the godly spouse You may have for her in the future, a marriage that reflects Christ and the church. Help them both to pursue holiness and to flee fornication, keeping any courtship pure until marriage. We ask that Your will be done and that You would be glorified in both of their lives. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Whether He restores this courtship toward marriage or leads you to another godly man who will pursue marriage with you, we pray you will be able to say with Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose. We are praying with you for clarity, purity, and a future marriage that honors Jesus above all.

Your request has been laid before the Lord and there is much to commend in the course you have already taken. To part with one you loved because he was not in Christ was to bow to that precept, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. You thought the yoke of Christ hard in that hour, but to have cast it off would have been to take upon you a yoke of iron, and that first loss, though painful, is vastly less than the after losses you would incur by seeking to avoid it.
We must learn to say, If the Lord will, in all our desires concerning the future. It is foolish for any of us to say, We will go and we will do this or that, and that everything shall fall out as we desire, as though we could both propose and dispose without asking God's consent. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so in grace we may rest assured that He is King, having mercy on whom He will have mercy. Salvation is of God's will, and though the will of man is not ignored, the work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will and make men willing in the day of His power.
Therefore we cannot ask God to bless a union that would be unequally yoked, nor to restore a relationship that would draw a believer away from Christ. That would be to ask Him to set aside His revealed will. What we will do is pray according to His will.
We will pray that God, who alone saves through faith in Jesus Christ, will have mercy upon this young man, if he remain without Christ, and bring him to true reconciliation with Himself. Not a mere profession, but a new heart that trusts Christ wholly and is made to live anew, for old things must pass away and all things become new when Christ has a man in His hands. We will pray also for you, that you may find rest in Christ's yoke, which is easy when we yield completely to Him, and that you may be kept in purity and patience, not seeking to live as those who are married before you are married, for that belongs within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman.
If the Lord has indeed wrought a work of grace in him, and if it be the Lord's will to bring your paths together again in a way that promotes His glory and your holiness, then He is able to make it plain in His providence, for all things are under His regulation and have an appointed place in His plan. Nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. Until then, we will pray that you both seek first to be the Lord's people, for He says, I will call them my people which were not my people, and to them that were not beloved, beloved, and that you may rest in His promise that no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.
May the Lord keep you learning and trusting, and make you willing to have His will done, and may He grant you that second rest which comes by learning of Christ and abiding by His side.
