Ex

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
This is probably a long shot but please pray that maybe somehow, my ex and I could get back together. We broke up because he wasn't a Christian. I hope that has changed by now. If it has, please pray that maybe God would allow us together. Thank you.

We hear your heart in this request and we commend you for honoring God when you stepped away from a relationship that was not equally yoked. That was a difficult and obedient choice and it aligns with what Scripture teaches, Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. Can two walk together, unless they have agreed? Amos 3:3. A courtship can only walk toward marriage when both are walking with Christ in the same direction.

We understand the hope you still carry for him and we join you in praying first for his soul. We do not know if his heart has truly changed, but God does, and His desire is that all would come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. If he has truly become a Christian believer, there will be fruit that remains, a new life, a love for Jesus and His Word, and a desire for holiness, not just words. We pray that if it is God's will to bring you together again, it would be as a godly man and woman pursuing marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that honors God, not simply as a relationship or partnership. We believe courtship should have the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, and marriage should be held in honor Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled Hebrews 13:4. That means we also encourage you both to flee from sexual immorality and to keep yourselves pure before marriage, for this is God's will for you Flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus, that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray and are heard.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You and we thank You for her desire to obey You. We ask in the name of Jesus that You would work deeply in the heart of her former boyfriend, that if he does not yet know You, You would draw him to true repentance and saving faith in Christ. If he has truly been born again, make that evident by a transformed life that bears fruit. We ask for Your perfect will to be done in both of their lives. If it is Your will for them to be reunited, we pray You would make that path clear in Your timing and that any reunion would be centered on You and moving toward a godly marriage that glorifies You. If it is not Your will, we pray You would give her peace, guard her heart, and lead her to the godly spouse You have prepared, if You will for her to marry. Help her to trust in You with all her heart, and not lean on her own understanding, and to acknowledge You in all her ways so You will direct her paths Proverbs 3:5-6. Give her patience to wait on You and to delight herself in You, trusting that You will give her the desires of her heart as they align with Your will Psalm 37:4. We know Your plans are good, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord first, to remain in prayer and in His Word, and to seek wise counsel from mature believers around you. Do not pursue a reunion simply because of lingering feelings, but wait to see clear evidence of his walk with Christ over time, and let any renewed courtship be accountable, pure, and intentionally aimed at discerning marriage. Trust that God loves you and will lead you to what is best for your holiness and His glory.

Thank you for sharing something so tender with us. We hear how much you cared for him and also how hard it was to step away because your faith was central and his was not. That kind of choice takes real courage, and we honor your desire to put the Lord first even when it hurt.

It is understandable that you still think of him and wonder what God may have been doing in his life since then. Holding hope while also wanting to stay surrendered to God's will can feel like a tug on your heart, and the waiting is not easy.

One gentle next step that may help is to keep bringing this honestly to the Lord, and also invite a trusted pastor or mature believing friend who knows you well to walk with you as you discern. If God does open a door for any contact down the road, giving time to see steady, consistent fruit of faith over months rather than just words in a moment can bring clarity and protect your heart.

We are grateful for your openness and we are standing with you, asking God to give you peace as you trust Him with what comes next and with both of your futures.

Father, we lift this dear sister to You and we lift her ex to You in Jesus' name. If he does not yet know You, draw him to Yourself and give him new life. If You are already at work in him, cause him to grow. Give her wisdom, calm and clear direction, and help her to rest in Your good will above her own hopes. Guard her heart and lead her steps day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard with care and with prayerful concern, and we thank you for bringing it honestly before the Lord and before His people.

We commend the decision you made to step away from a relationship that was unequally yoked. The Scripture says, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, and whenever we cast off that gentle yoke of Christ we find we have not gained freedom but have taken a yoke of iron. You felt that precept to be hard at the time, yet to walk away from it for the sake of affection would have brought far greater loss than the sorrow of parting. That obedience, though painful, was right and honoring to God.

You ask now that you might be brought back together, and that hope is understandable. Yet we must not pray as those who say, We will go and we will get gain, as if we can both propose and dispose without asking God's consent. All things are under regulation and have an appointed place in God's plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. There is a revealed will which we must not violate, and we will not even wish for what we desire unless we can have it in a way that promotes the will of God. Our best gain will consist of doing His will.

For that reason we cannot ask God simply to bless a reunion apart from His will, nor to bless any relationship that would again be unequally yoked. What we will do is pray with you for what is far greater. Salvation is of God's will. The work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human heart and so make men willing in the day of God's power. The promise is, A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you, and I will put my law within them and write it upon their hearts. If your former friend has truly been born again, that new heart will be loved and will control the whole man, and it will be seen not in words alone but in a life that loves Christ and keeps His ways. Only God can do that writing, for He will not write His law upon a heart that is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked until He first makes it new.

We also hear in your words a waiting heart, and the Lord is a waiting God. Blessed are all they that wait for Him. His people wait only upon Him, not trusting to the arm of flesh nor to changeable feelings. Like children we are tempted to snatch at unripe fruit, eager for immediate rescue and immediate answers, but God will surely deliver in due season though we cannot hasten His hour. He waited long for us, and we can be patient to wait for Him. Every promise will be kept, but not always today nor tomorrow.

So our prayer for you will be this, that the Lord would first be gracious to him for salvation through Jesus Christ alone, that if it be His sovereign mercy He would call him from being not His people to being His people, and have mercy upon him. We will pray that the Lord would give you wisdom, quietness of heart, and contentment to rest upon God's will which is the axle of the universe and the heart of providence, and to say from the heart, If the Lord wills. We will pray that you would be kept pure and be preserved by having God's law written on your heart, so that you will go right without needing to be pressed, because the life within constrains you. And we will pray that if the Lord should in His providence make you both His own and guide you together in holiness toward the lifelong covenant of marriage as one man and one woman, that this would be made clear in His time and in His way, and if not, that He would keep you and satisfy you with Himself.

We will bring you both before the throne, asking not for our will but for His, trusting that He withholds no good thing from them that walk uprightly and that He will do as He has said, I will have mercy and I will call them my people. May you find rest not in a hoped for reunion but in Christ Himself, who says, I will give you rest, and may that rest keep you as you wait upon Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing your request so honestly. It takes courage to end a relationship for the sake of faith, and your desire to honor Christ in this is commendable.

Scripture teaches that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with sexual union and living together belonging only within that covenant. For this reason God calls His people not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Your decision to step away when he did not share faith was a faithful and painful obedience to that call.

You ask now whether God might bring you together again if he has come to faith. As we have reflected, Christ came to His own and His own did not receive Him, and many who heard the prophets and saw His works still remained in unbelief because of hardness of heart. Yet the same Scriptures show the longsuffering of God, who offers salvation through repentance and who is found by those who did not seek Him. Just as David and many others reaped salvation through genuine repentance, God is able to truly change a heart that once did not believe. But such change is not to be assumed quickly or on the basis of hope alone. It must be seen over time in real fruit, in love for Christ, in submission to His Word, and in life within His church.

So we will not pray that God would simply restore the relationship as it was, for we cannot ask Him to bless what would still be outside His design if faith is not truly there. Instead we will pray with you for what is right to ask. We will pray that if your former friend does not yet know Christ, God in His mercy would bring him to true repentance and faith in Jesus alone. We will pray that God would give you wisdom, peace and contentment in Christ as you wait, and clarity to discern His will rather than being led only by longing or memory. If God has indeed done a work of new life in him, we will pray that it would become evident in a sustained way through the witness of faithful pastors and believers around him, not through words alone, and that you both would seek godly counsel before considering any future together.

Guard your heart in this season by staying rooted in prayer, in Scripture and in the fellowship of the church, and by keeping the boundaries that honor marriage as God intends. Trust that God withholds nothing good from those who walk with Him, and that His longsuffering purpose is your holiness and joy in Him first.

May the Lord grant you discernment, strengthen you to walk worthily of your calling with lowliness and patience, and keep you in His peace as you trust His good will.
