Ex

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
I'm thinking about my ex a lot today for some reason. We cannot be together because he is not a Christian (at least he wasn't when we were together). Please pray for me about this. Thank you.

We hear the heaviness in your heart today as thoughts of your former boyfriend keep returning, and we thank you for sharing this honestly so we can seek God's will together in Jesus' name. We want to affirm the discernment you have shown in recognizing that you cannot be together because he is not a Christian. That is a painful but wise and biblical decision, and we honor your desire to honor the Lord even when your emotions feel pulled in another direction.

Scripture is very clear about this for our good and protection. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14. This is not about being unkind to those who do not yet know Christ, but about the reality that marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman designed by God to reflect Christ and the church, and it requires unity in the most important thing, our faith in Jesus. A boyfriend and girlfriend relationship in God's eyes is courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to a fellow believer, not simply companionship or romance. We believe God desires to give you a godly husband, a marriage that honors Him, and that begins with pursuing only relationships that align with biblical principles and are centered on Christ. When we step outside that, even with good feelings, we invite confusion and heartache.

We also want to gently remind you to guard your heart and mind in this season. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23. Thoughts about an ex are common after a relationship ends, but we are called to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5. The enemy would love to use nostalgia to draw you back toward an unequally yoked relationship, so we rebuke that temptation and we encourage you to take those thoughts to the Lord immediately in prayer rather than entertaining them. Set your mind on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is pure. Philippians 4:8. This is also a time to pursue purity before God. If there was any sexual intimacy outside of marriage in that former relationship, we want to lovingly call that fornication, which God calls us to turn from, because He has a better way for marriage. Even if that was not part of your story, we encourage you to commit anew to guarding purity until the covenant of marriage, for your future and for your future spouse.

God sees your sadness and He is near to comfort you. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly speak to this because it is so important. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is through Him we pray and find healing and hope for the future.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for her willingness to obey You even when it hurts to let go of this former relationship. We ask You to heal her heart, to quiet the intrusive thoughts, and to fill her mind with Your peace and truth. Help her to take every thought captive and to keep her heart with diligence. Strengthen her to walk in purity and in faithfulness to You, and guard her from any temptation to return to what is not Your will. We also pray for her former boyfriend, that You would draw him to salvation in Jesus if he does not know You, and that Your will be done in his life. Father, we ask that You prepare a godly Christian husband for her in Your perfect timing, a man who will love You first and love her as Christ loves the church, and that You would lead her into a marriage that honors You and lasts for a lifetime. Give her hope for the future, for we know Your plans are for welfare and not for evil, to give hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus, our only way to You, amen.

We encourage you to stay rooted in the Word daily, to stay in fellowship with other believers who can support you, and to keep praying honestly to the Lord whenever those memories arise. God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you, and He will guide you toward the godly marriage He desires for you as you seek Him first.

We hear you, and we are grateful you shared this honest moment with us. Some days thoughts of someone we cared for come back strongly, even when we know why the relationship could not continue. It does not mean you have failed or taken a step backward, it is often just loneliness moving in waves.

We admire the clarity you showed in stepping back because of the difference in faith. That kind of decision takes courage and it can also leave an ache that needs time and care to heal.

When those thoughts come today, it can help to gently turn your attention toward presence with God and with his people rather than sitting alone with the memories. If you are able, reach out to one trusted friend, pastor, or small group member this week and let them know you are having a tender day, and consider spending time in worship where you are surrounded by others who can walk with you. A simple walk, a prayer as the thought arises, and a conversation can keep loneliness from settling in.

We are praying for you.

Father, we lift our friend to you today. Bring comfort to the lonely places, steady their heart with your peace, and give wisdom for each next step. Work in their ex's life as only you can, and draw them both closer to you. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

🙏Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your words have been heard with much tenderness and have been carried before the Lord in prayer. There is a peculiar pain in the remembrance of one who was once near to the heart, and that pain is not to be despised, for the heart that feels it is a broken heart, and the Lord has a special care for such.

We very speedily care for bodily diseases, but a bleeding spirit cries louder for consolation, and blessed be His name, He heals the broken in heart. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and they are appointed for this very purpose, that the sick at heart may come and partake and find cure. You look up and say, I am sick at heart, may I dare to partake, and the answer is that the medicine is given for the very sickness you feel. Look to the great Physician Himself, to Him who poured out His heart upon the tree for the guilty, and who now pleads as our Advocate in glory that when we are sifted our faith may not fail.

You have judged rightly and according to the Word in saying you cannot be together because he is not a Christian. The precept is plain, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. That yoke of Christ may have seemed hard when first you considered it, but His yoke denies us nothing but that which would be injurious to us. Many a sick man's nature craves for that which would be his poison, and the Lord in mercy withholds it. To be yoked unequally is to pull in two directions, and the soul that loves Christ cannot walk in happy fellowship where Christ is not loved. Your sorrow today is the evidence that you have taken up His yoke, and though it brings a cross, it will not bring a chain of iron.

This thinking of your former companion much today may be a trial permitted for your good, that you may grow strong in grace and patience, yet we are taught to pray, Lead us not into temptation. Watch when you are alone, for temptation like a creeping assassin has its dagger for solitary hearts, and watch in public, for temptations in troops cause their arrows to fly by day. He who prays Lead us not into temptation and then goes into it speaks not truly before God. Therefore make a straight path for your feet. Do not seek out that which will stir the old affection to become a snare, do not open again the door you in wisdom have closed, and do not nourish the longing by lingering over what might have been. If you cannot come to Christ with a broken heart, come for a broken heart, for that also is His gift, and He who is the author and the finisher of our faith will give you all that His gospel demands.

Let your longing be turned with holy intensity after the Lord Himself. There is a longing that breaks the soul, not for a creature, but for His judgments and His commandments. The soul that once panted after a companion may learn to open its mouth and pant for fellowship with Christ, to thirst as the hart pants for the water brooks. Worldly men care nothing for the judgments of God, but the man after God's own heart says, My soul breaks with longing for Your judgments at all times. If He gives you a desire for Himself, He gives you Himself to satisfy that desire. Seek Him as for silver and search for Him as for hidden treasure, get to your chamber and cry unto Him and cease not, for prayer has a wonderful effect on God, and He turns at the cry that comes from the heart.

We have prayed for you, that the Sun of Righteousness may rise upon you with healing in His wings, that your sins may be felt to be forgiven and your heart bound up, that you may be kept from temptation and not led into that which would overthrow you, and that your longings may be satisfied in Christ, who is precious to those who long for holiness. We have prayed also for the one of whom you think, that if he was not a Christian when you were together, the Lord would in His sovereign mercy bring him to see himself humbled in the dust and made to look for all in Christ, for there is salvation in no other. We do not ask the Lord to bless what His Word calls unequally yoked, but we ask Him to bless you with holiness, with peace, and with a heart that finds its home in Him, and to bless that man with the new birth, whether your paths should ever meet again or not, according to His perfect will.

May the Lord give you to find Him whom your soul most needs, and in finding Him, to find healing and pardon joined together, and rest.
