Thank you for sharing this painful and heavy news with us. We are praying for you and for him in this difficult time.
We are bringing your ex before the Lord and asking for God's mercy upon him. We pray that God would be gracious to him in his illness, that He would grant wisdom to his doctors, ease his suffering, and if it be His will, bring healing to his body. Above all we pray that this trial would draw him to salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved. We pray that he would come to know Christ's forgiveness and hope, and that he would find comfort and strength in Him.
We are also praying for you as you receive this news after your breakup. It is understandable to feel sorrow, confusion, and compassion when someone you once cared for is suffering. We pray that God would give you peace, wisdom, and lowliness and meekness and patience as you walk through this. May He help you to show Christlike compassion while also guarding your heart and keeping healthy boundaries, and to cast your cares fully upon Him.
We encourage you to continue to fortify yourself in God's Word, to cleanse your heart from worldly anxieties, and to walk worthily of the calling you have received, with love and steadfast trust in the Lord. He is near to the brokenhearted and hears the prayers of His people.
