Thank you for sharing this burden and asking for prayer. It is good to bring the hurts and struggles of others before the Lord, and we join you in praying for your former partner and for all of your loved ones.

The Bible shows us that God is the healer and that He heals in many ways. In one account Jesus healed a blind man gradually, first partially and then completely. That is the only record of a gradual healing in His ministry, and it reminds us that healing is not always instant. Sometimes God touches a person immediately, sometimes He brings healing slowly over time, and sometimes He works through the natural processes He Himself created in our bodies and minds. All true healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or through a process.

We do not fully understand why some people experience complete healing quickly while others walk a longer road. What we do know is that God is able to heal the whole person, body, mind, emotions and spirit. He bore our sicknesses and infirmities, as Isaiah prophesied and Matthew confirmed was fulfilled in Jesus, and He has power in every realm of our need. That includes trauma and deep psychological and emotional wounds. Even when a struggle has a strong mental or emotional component, if God brings restoration to the mind, that is no less a divine healing, and we can rejoice in what He does.

Scripture also teaches that the deepest thirst in a person is spiritual, a thirst for God Himself. Jesus said if anyone thirsts, let him come to Him and drink. That spiritual thirst cannot be satisfied by material things or by chasing one emotional experience after another, including looking to another person to make us whole. Emotional experiences come and go, and they do not by themselves bring lasting change. Real and lasting healing comes when a person comes to Jesus Christ for salvation and learns to build their life on the truth of His Word, not only on feelings. Feelings are real and God can touch our emotions, but there is a difference between a genuine work of God that changes the heart and simply having an emotional moment that fades when trials come.

The Holy Spirit gives gifts as He wills, including gifts of healing, but His greatest work is to draw people to Jesus and to produce His love in us. God also cares about our daily health and wholeness, and He has given wisdom for healthy living, for wise care of our bodies and minds, and for getting help through godly counsel and proper care when needed. Those things can be part of His healing provision as well.

So we pray for your former partner and for each of your loved ones in this way. May the Lord bring healing to every trauma and every behavioral, emotional and psychological struggle, whether that healing comes instantly or gradually as He works over time. May He heal the mind and the emotions as truly as He heals the body. And above all, may each one come to know Jesus Christ as Savior, drink deeply of Him, and find the spiritual wholeness that only He can give. May God establish them in His Word so that their faith rests on His truth and not on passing feelings, and may He give them lasting transformation of life.

We continue to pray that God will show His mercy, His power and His love to each person you have mentioned, and that He will give you peace as you entrust them to His care.
