Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for me because I think my relationship with my ex-boyfriend was emotionally and psychologically abusive in some ways. Please pray for me to heal. Pray for God to have mercy on him and not punish him for things he did - pray for him to be brought to faith in Christ and set free from false teachings. But please pray for me to heal from things that happened in that relationship. Pray for him to heal if I did anything hurtful to him. Thank you.

We hear your pain and stand with you in this time of healing, lifting your heart before the Lord with compassion and truth. The wounds of emotional and psychological abuse are deep, and we grieve with you over the ways this relationship has left scars on your soul. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you might have life, and life abundantly (John 10:10). We rebuke every lie that tells you this pain is yours to carry alone or that your worth is defined by what was done to you. You are a beloved child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and your healing is His desire.

First, we must address the nature of this past relationship. While your heart is tender toward your ex-boyfriend, Scripture is clear that marriage is the only God-ordained context for romantic relationships (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). What you describe as a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship was, in God’s eyes, a season of courtship that should have been pursued with purity, mutual respect, and the goal of marriage, or it should not have been pursued at all. The emotional and psychological harm you endured is not God’s design for love. His plan for relationships is one of honor, selflessness, and edification (Ephesians 5:25-33, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7). We do not say this to shame you but to affirm that your pain is valid, and God’s standards are for your protection.

We also want to gently but firmly address the issue of forgiveness and justice. You ask for mercy for your ex-boyfriend, that he would not be punished for his actions, and we honor your Christlike heart in this. Scripture tells us, “Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who mistreat you” (Luke 6:28). Yet we must also affirm that God is just, and His mercy does not negate His righteous judgment (Romans 12:19). Your desire for his salvation is beautiful and aligns with God’s heart (1 Timothy 2:4), but it is not your responsibility to shield him from the consequences of his actions. True repentance begins with acknowledging sin, and we pray he would come to see the harm he caused and turn to Christ in genuine faith.

As for your healing, we declare over you the promise of Isaiah 61:1-3: “The Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the humble... to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives... to comfort all who mourn... to give to them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a spirit of heaviness.” Your healing is not a one-time event but a journey, and we pray that God would meet you in every step. We rebuke the spirit of fear, shame, and self-doubt that may linger, and we declare that you are being renewed day by day (2 Corinthians 4:16). May the Lord surround you with godly community, believers who will speak truth, pray with you, and walk alongside you as you heal.

We also lift up the possibility that you may have unintentionally caused hurt in this relationship. It is wise and humble to examine your own heart (Lamentations 3:40), and we pray that if there is any unconfessed sin or area where you need to grow, the Holy Spirit would reveal it to you with gentleness. Confess it to the Lord, receive His forgiveness, and walk in the freedom of His grace (1 John 1:9).

Now, we come before the throne of grace on your behalf:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious sister to You, the God who sees her pain and collects her tears in a bottle (Psalm 56:8). Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You would heal every wound in her heart, mind, and spirit. Bind up the broken places and pour Your oil of joy over her. We rebuke every lie of the enemy that tells her she is unworthy of love or that her value is tied to what she endured. Remind her daily that she is Your beloved, created for a purpose, and that her identity is found in Christ alone.

Father, we pray for her ex-boyfriend. We ask that You would break through the hardness of his heart and reveal Yourself to him. If he is ensnared by false teachings or deceptive spirits, we pray for Your truth to shatter those chains. Soften his heart to receive the gospel, that he may come to know Jesus as his Lord and Savior. If there is unrepentant sin in his life, convict him by Your Holy Spirit and lead him to true repentance. We also pray that if there is any way he was hurt in this relationship, You would bring healing to him as well.

Lord, we ask that You would fill this sister with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Surround her with godly friendships and mentors who will encourage her in her faith and remind her of Your love. Give her wisdom as she moves forward, that she would pursue relationships that honor You, relationships built on mutual respect, purity, and the foundation of Christ. If it is Your will for her to marry, prepare her for a godly spouse who will cherish her as Christ cherishes the Church.

We also pray for her emotional and mental well-being. Heal the memories that haunt her and replace them with Your truth. Strengthen her mind and renew her thoughts according to Your Word (Romans 12:2). Help her to release bitterness or resentment, not because what was done to her was okay, but because she chooses to trust You with justice and restoration.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would use this season of healing to draw her closer to You. May she find her comfort, her strength, and her hope in Your presence. Teach her to lean on You in every circumstance and to trust that You are working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28). We declare that her future is bright, filled with hope and purpose, because You hold it in Your hands.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the One who bore our sorrows and carried our griefs (Isaiah 53:4). It is by His blood that we have access to You, Father, and it is through faith in Him that we are saved. We thank You for Your love, Your mercy, and Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We heard the care in how you wrote this, both wanting healing for yourself and wanting mercy for your ex-boyfriend rather than punishment. It takes honesty and grace to name that a relationship felt abusive in emotional and psychological ways and still pray for the other person's good.

What you describe makes sense to still be carrying. Hurt that whittles away at a person's sense of worth and confidence often lingers long after a relationship has ended, longer than more visible wounds. It can leave you confused about what was real or questioning yourself, and healing tends to be slow and needs a safe, steady environment. Needing time does not mean you are failing.

If it would help, one steady next step can be to talk one on one with a trusted pastor or Christian counselor just for your own support, someone who will listen at your pace, help you sort through what happened, and honor whatever boundaries you need around contact with your ex. You do not have to sort all of this alone, and having one or two safe people who know your story can make the process less isolating.

Father, we lift our sister to You and ask You to cover her with Your care, bring healing to the places that were torn down and give her wisdom and peace for each next step. Provide safe community around her as she recovers. We also ask Your mercy on her ex-boyfriend, that You would draw him to know Jesus, free him from confusion and false teaching, and bring healing where he needs it as well. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the Lord who healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds.

We pray for your healing from the hurt you have described. The wounds of an unkind and oppressive spirit go deep, and they urge the soul to seek a Physician. There is a balm in Gilead and a Physician there who can give joy to the troubled countenance and calm the heart now swelling with grief. The Scripture says the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and we are taught that the least thing about Christ has healing virtue in it. Not a word that ever fell from His dear lips but bears healing for some one or other of the thousand ills that have befallen our humanity. Even a broken word from His mouth is better than the best of others, and this medicine is appointed for the very purpose of healing. May you know that sacred influence descending from your Lord Jesus in heaven down to you, purging every evil and flowing as abundant streams of healing to you below. May He breathe into your soul at this very moment a peace with God which passes all understanding.

We pray also as you have asked for mercy toward this man. We do not ask God to overlook sin, for He is holy, but we pray that mercy may come through the costly balm of the atonement. The power which dwelt in Christ to heal is most eminently applicable to the removal of the guilt of sin, and where sin is forgiven the penal consequence is borne by Christ and is gone from the forgiven man. We pray that God would have mercy upon him, that He would bring him to true faith in Christ alone for salvation, and that He would set him free from false teachings and preserve him from all evil and from insidious and deceitful errors. As you prayed, we ask that the Lord would put His fear in his heart and keep him from the devices of the evil one, and that being touched by Christ he might know sin departing from him the moment the Lord touches him.

And as you have humbly asked, if anything hurtful was done by you toward him, we pray for his healing also. We ask the Lord to search both hearts, to grant repentance where repentance is needed, and to give to each the forgiveness that is first and then the healing that follows. For pardon must come before peace, and Christ must begin with us before we can rightly begin with Him.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord in His Word and among His people, and to walk in His holy way. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and He shows us that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that the gift of intimate union and living together belongs within that covenant for our good and His glory. Seek godly counsel in your local church, and if you remain vulnerable to harm, seek the help of mature and trusted believers who can walk beside you and keep you safe. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil, He shall preserve your soul.

We will continue to pray that you will know the healing leaves of that tree whose Head is Christ, that every word of His to you would be a healing draught, and that you would be kept in purity and uprightness as you look to Him who alone can make you whole. May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you and give you healing and pardon through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Thank you for sharing this painful part of your story and for trusting us to pray with you. We hear how much hurt this relationship has caused, and it is right to bring both your need for healing and your concern for him before the Lord.

We join you in praying for your healing from the emotional and psychological harm you experienced. God sees what you have been through, He is close to the brokenhearted, and He is able to restore and make whole. We pray that He will give you peace, renew your mind through His Word, surround you with wise and safe community, and lead you into deeper wholeness in Christ. If you are able, we encourage you to also seek ongoing support from a trusted pastor or biblical counselor and safe people in your local church as part of that healing process.

We also join you in praying for mercy for your ex-boyfriend. We do not ask God to punish him, but to have mercy on him, as you asked. We pray that God would bring him to saving faith in Jesus Christ alone, that he would be set free from any false teaching, that he would come to know the truth of the gospel, repent where he needs to repent, and walk in new life. We pray that God would also heal him from any hurt that was caused in the relationship, including any hurt you may have caused him, and that both of you would know the forgiveness and grace that comes only through Jesus.

We will not pray for that dating relationship to be blessed or restored as it was, but we do pray for each of you as individuals to be healed, to be grounded in Christ, and to pursue what is good and holy in His eyes. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that intimacy and living together belong within that covenant. We pray that God will guide you in His good design for relationships going forward and give you wisdom and strength for every step.

Let us pray together:

Father, thank you for your mercy and compassion. We lift up this dear one to you and ask for deep healing from the wounds of this past relationship. Comfort her, guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and help her to grow in strength and hope. Have mercy on her ex-boyfriend, draw him to yourself, save him through faith in Jesus Christ, and deliver him from all false teaching. Bring conviction where it is needed, bring repentance and forgiveness, and set both of them free to walk in your truth. Make each of them whole and lead them in your will. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Please keep reaching out for prayer and support. You are not alone, and God is faithful to continue His healing work in you.

Your honesty in sharing this hurt is received with care, and it is right to bring it before the Lord. Emotional and psychological wounds can run deep, and God sees what has happened and wants to bring healing and restoration.

I am praying for your healing. Scripture shows that sin separates us from God and from one another, and that brokenness in our relationships with people often reflects a deeper need for our relationship with God to be made right and whole. That vertical relationship with God is like the center point on which the rest of life turns. When your walk with Him is being restored and strengthened, He begins to set right the other areas of life as well. Jesus gave Himself for our sins to deliver us, and through His blood there is both forgiveness and power to be set apart for Him. My prayer is that you will know more and more the grace and peace that come from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, and that you will experience His nearness not as a set of rules to keep, but as a loving relationship with Him as your Father. He does not want a distant or ritual connection, but a close and living fellowship where you know how much you are loved and you learn to love Him in return. In that place of love, you do not obey to earn favor, but because you belong to Him and want what pleases Him.

I am also praying as you asked for mercy for your former boyfriend, that God would not deal with him according to punishment, but according to mercy and grace. God's mercy and justice meet at the cross, and there is forgiveness and new life only through faith in Jesus Christ alone. I am praying that if he does not yet know the Lord, God will draw him to true faith in Christ and set him free from any false teaching that has misled him. Jesus alone is the way of salvation, and only He can free a heart and mind from error and bring it into truth.

And I am praying for him as you requested, that if any hurt came through your own words or actions, God would heal him as well and bring His own conviction and comfort where needed. It is a gracious and Christlike thing to pray for the good of someone who has hurt you, and to desire his healing too.

May the Lord stand with you and keep you in the liberty where Christ has set you free, not entangled again in bondage, but bound to Him by love. As you look to Him, may He heal what has been wounded, quiet what has been troubled, and teach you to walk in wholeness. May He guard your heart and mind, and lead you both into a deeper knowledge of His truth and grace.

Father, I lift this dear one to You. Pour out Your grace and peace upon her. Heal the emotional and psychological wounds from this relationship. Restore what has been broken and make her whole in Your love. Have mercy on this young man, forgive his sins, and bring him to saving faith in Jesus Christ alone. Deliver him from every false teaching and set him free in Your truth. Heal him also where he has been hurt. Draw them both into a close, loving relationship with You, and let Your will be done in their lives. In Jesus name, Amen.
