Ex-boyfriend

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
I recently broke up with my ex-boyfriend because we are unequally yoked and he has not spoken to me since for certain reasons. He is having a lot of health problems right now and it's difficult because I am now in a place where I will never probably know how his health is doing or if something happens to him unless he reaches out. Please pray about this. It's hard. Thank you.

We hear your heart, dear sister, and we grieve with you over the pain of this separation, not just the loss of the relationship, but the weight of not knowing how your ex-boyfriend is faring in his health. The Lord sees your compassion and the burden you carry, even now. It is right to feel sorrow when someone we once cared for is suffering, but we must also remember the boundaries the Lord has set before us, especially when it comes to being unequally yoked.

The Scriptures are clear: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what partnership have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). You made a wise and godly decision to step away from this relationship, even though it has left you with unanswered questions and lingering concern. The Lord honors your obedience, and we trust that He will work all things together for your good (Romans 8:28), even when the path is unclear.

We must also gently remind you that your care for him, while understandable, must now be surrendered to the Lord. It is not your responsibility to monitor his health or well-being, nor is it healthy for you to remain in a place of uncertainty where you are left wondering. The Lord calls us to cast our cares upon Him (1 Peter 5:7), and that includes the burden of not knowing. You have done what the Lord asked of you by ending the relationship, and now you must trust Him with the rest.

We also want to encourage you to guard your heart in this season. It is easy to romanticize what was or to long for reconciliation, but the Lord has closed this door for a reason. Proverbs 4:23 warns us, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life." Your heart belongs to the Lord first, and He desires to fill you with His peace and purpose, not with lingering attachments to what cannot be.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sister who is carrying the weight of this broken relationship and the unknowns surrounding her ex-boyfriend’s health. Lord, we thank You that she sought to honor You by ending a relationship that was not aligned with Your will. We ask that You would comfort her heart and remind her of Your faithfulness. Father, we pray for her ex-boyfriend, that You would draw him to Yourself in this time of struggle. If it is Your will, bring believers into his life who can minister to him and share the hope of the Gospel. Protect him, Lord, and surround him with Your healing and peace.

We also ask that You would guard our sister’s heart from any temptation to look back or to dwell on what cannot be. Fill her with Your Holy Spirit and give her a fresh vision for the future You have for her, a future that includes a godly spouse who will walk with her in faith. Help her to release this burden into Your hands, trusting that You are sovereign over all things. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and remind her that You are near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who heals, restores, and redeems. Amen.

In this season, we encourage you to focus on deepening your relationship with the Lord. Spend time in His Word, surround yourself with godly community, and allow Him to fill the spaces in your heart that may still ache. The Lord has not forgotten you, and He is working even now to prepare you for the blessings He has in store. Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He will guide your steps.

We hear how heavy this in-between place feels for you. You made a painful and faithful decision to step away because you were not equally yoked, and now you are carrying both the grief of the breakup and real worry for his health, with no way to know how he is unless he reaches out. That not knowing can make the loss feel even larger.

It makes sense this is hard. Grief is not only for death, it comes with any deep loss including the end of a relationship and the hopes you held for it, and each person moves through it differently and in their own timing. Caring about someone does not turn off when contact ends, and it is understandable to feel torn between compassion for him and respect for the boundary the breakup has created.

One thing that has helped others in this spot is to give that care a place to go without reopening contact. When the worry rises, turning it into a brief simple prayer for his wellbeing and entrusting him to the Lord can honor your compassion while keeping the space you both need to heal. It also helps not to carry this wondering alone, so we encourage you to let one trusted friend or pastor walk with you in the weeks ahead.

We are holding you both in prayer.

Father, we lift this sister to You and we lift her former boyfriend to You as well. Watch over him in his health struggles and be near him with Your care. For her, we ask for Your comfort in this grief, for peace when answers do not come, and for wisdom and strength for each day ahead. Surround her with steady community and guide her steps. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your burden has been brought before the Lord and we have taken it to heart with you. It is a tender sorrow to love one and yet to be divided from him, and more tender still when his body is weak and you cannot watch over him. Yet in this you have done well, for you have obeyed that precept, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. You thought the yoke of Christ might be hard in that command, but to reject it would have been harder still, for two cannot walk together nor plow together in one yoke unless they be agreed. To sunder an unequal yoke is obedience, and obedience though it wounds for a season brings peace.

We pray that you may now make an unconditional surrender to your Father's good pleasure. Fling wide the gates of the city of Mansoul and admit the Prince Emanuel to rule as sole sovereign in every street. Will you surrender at discretion to His method of ordering your life and His method of caring for this man whom you once loved. If you can say, Lord, not my will but Thine be done, whether I hear of him or not, whether he recovers or is laid low, there will be peace between you and your God. Kiss the Son in this trial lest unbelief make the wound fester.

We do bring this man before the great Physician. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation, for not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing but the very leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing. We pray that the Lord would lay His hand upon this man's body and raise him up if it be His will, but far more that He would heal his soul. Healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, and pardon and healing were one. We ask not merely for the mending of the flesh which must again decay, but for that deeper healing which changes the life blood and makes the nature new. May this affliction be the means to show him his need of Christ, who alone is salvation, and may he turn and live.

And for you, we pray the promise that He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. There are several forms of a broken heart, and yours is that of a severed affection joined with anxious care. We very speedily seek a physician for bodily disease, but for a wounded spirit there is only one Healer, and He does His work Himself. No notion or fancy will pass muster when God examines the heart, but a real saving work is the work of God alone. May He heal you truly, not by forgetting or by hardening, but by drawing you nearer to Himself, till the desire to minister arises out of your own healing.

We pray thus, O Lord, look upon this Thy child in her heaviness. Keep her in perfect surrender to Thy wise providence concerning one she cannot now help. Keep him in Thy sight, deal graciously with his body and have mercy upon his soul, granting him repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. Let Thy healing leaves fall upon them both, and let pardon and healing come together for Thy glory. Grant her to know that though she cannot watch over him, Thou dost watch without ceasing, and Thou doest all things well. Amen.
