Emotional attacks

We hear your cry for help, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in this spiritual battle. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). These emotional attacks are not from God, who gives us a spirit of power, love, and self-control, not fear (2 Timothy 1:7). The devil is indeed a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44), and his goal is to distort your perception, isolate you, and make you doubt God’s goodness.

First, we must rebuke these attacks in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. There is power in His name, no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so now. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Without Jesus, we have no authority to stand against the schemes of the devil, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We rebuke every spirit of fear, anxiety, confusion, and despair that is attacking [this dear one]. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, we ask that You surround them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we plead the blood of Jesus over their emotions, their thoughts, and their spirit. We break every assignment of the enemy designed to bring discouragement, doubt, or despair. We command every lying spirit to flee in Jesus’ name! Fill them instead with Your Holy Spirit, who testifies of truth, love, and hope. Remind them that You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

Lord, we ask that You draw them closer to You in this time. Let them feel Your presence like never before. Help them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to meditate on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and commendable (Philippians 4:8). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to stand firm on Your promises.

We also ask that You bring godly believers around them, those who will speak life, pray with them, and encourage them in the faith. Let them not be isolated, for the enemy seeks to devour those who are alone (1 Peter 5:8). Surround them with Your hedge of protection, Lord, and let Your angels encamp around them (Psalm 91:11).

Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness. We thank You that You are working all things together for their good, even when they cannot see it (Romans 8:28). Help them to trust in You with all their heart and lean not on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Renew their strength like the eagle’s, and let them run and not grow weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray and declare victory over these emotional attacks. We thank You, Lord, for Your deliverance and for the freedom that is found in Christ alone. Amen.

Now, dear one, we encourage you to stand firm in your faith. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11). Here are some practical steps to help you in this battle:

1. Stay in the Word: The sword of the Spirit is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). Speak Scripture out loud over your life. Memorize verses that combat fear, anxiety, and despair, such as Psalm 23, Psalm 91, and Philippians 4:6-7.

2. Pray Without Ceasing: Prayer is your direct line to God. Do not underestimate its power. Pray in the Spirit at all times (Ephesians 6:18), and do not hesitate to call out to God in your moments of weakness.

3. Worship and Praise: The enemy hates when we worship God. Put on worship music, sing praises to God, and declare His goodness. Worship shifts the atmosphere and invites God’s presence into your situation.

4. Fellowship with Believers: Do not isolate yourself. The enemy thrives in secrecy and isolation. Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. Iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17).

5. Resist the Devil: Submit yourselves to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Do not entertain his lies. When a thought comes that does not align with God’s Word, reject it immediately and replace it with truth.

6. Guard Your Heart: Be mindful of what you allow into your heart and mind. The things you watch, listen to, and engage with can either build you up or tear you down. Set a guard over your heart, for from it flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23).

7. Seek Godly Counsel: If these attacks persist, consider speaking with a pastor, biblical counselor, or trusted mentor who can provide guidance and prayer. Sometimes, emotional attacks can stem from unhealed wounds or areas of our lives that need to be surrendered to God.

Remember, this battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). You are not fighting alone, God is with you, and He has already won the victory through Jesus Christ. The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11). Walk in that truth, and do not let the enemy steal your joy, peace, or purpose.

We stand with you, dear one, and we will continue to pray for your deliverance and breakthrough. You are loved, valued, and cherished by your Heavenly Father. Do not lose heart, for in due time, you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9). God is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is your strength, your shield, and your deliverer.

Thank you for letting us carry this with you. We are sorry you are under this kind of pressure right now. When emotions churn and swing, they can feel like the whole truth, but they are not the final measure of reality. The enemy often attacks when we are tired, isolated, or unsure, so one of the strongest things you can do is refuse to fight it alone. Bring these feelings into the open with a mature believer or pastor you trust, and ask them to stand with you in prayer over the next few days. There is no shame in that. You do not have to sort out every feeling before you come to God; you can come exactly as you are.

Father, we lift up our friend who feels battered in their emotions. You know the exact source of the attack and the weight it carries. Please still the inner churning, silence the accusing voice, and make Your presence the calm center. Give wisdom to recognize feelings that shift like weather, and steady them where they feel most unstable. Surround them with people who will pray and speak truth gently. We ask for protection, peace, and renewed strength. In Jesus' name, Amen.

That happens to me all the time. You're not alone, friend. I pray that this anxiety ends in the mighty name of our lord Jesus, Amen.

The Lord knows the assaults upon your heart, and He is not far from you in this hour. I will pray that the God of peace will bruise Satan under your feet shortly, and that the blood of Jesus may whisper peace within your soul. When Satan plays with the emotions, he aims at the place where you lie open; but remember, he can do nothing except as permitted, and Christ has already vanquished him. Stay your mind upon Him, for the promise stands, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You." Do not parley with his suggestions or give way to the stormy feelings.

Flee to Christ, for the rebuke of Jesus is the only remedy against the castings down of Satan. I will ask the Lord to say to the enemy, "Get you hence, Satan," and to restore to you that peace which the world cannot give. Let this attack drive you to prayer, not to despair. Sometimes such dreadful excitements are followed by years of peace, quiet usefulness, holiness, and communion with God.

Resolve to stand fast, not in your own strength, but in the power of His might, and believe that Christ, who has conquered the devil, will keep you in the conflict until you enter Heaven's perfect peace.

Your request for prayer against these emotional attacks has been heard, and I join you in bringing it before the Lord.

Scripture teaches that there are different kinds of war, and the most grievous is not the war around us but the war within us, when the soul is at variance with itself and is troubled by anxious thoughts, desponding feelings, and evil desires. This is the tumult that must be stilled, for what gain is it if the world around us is quiet and yet we have no peace within. Satan is cunning and often works little by little, stirring the emotions and troubling the mind, so that we are led captive if we are not watchful.

Therefore take courage, for Christ himself has said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. This is the peace that guards the heart and mind, the peace that is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy. It is not the absence of struggle, but the presence of Christ ruling within. And the promise stands that the God of peace will soon bruise Satan under your feet, so that you may obtain the victory through Christ and not through your own strength.

In times of peace we must keep up the exercises of war, as soldiers do even when no battle is near. So keep these practices daily:

Bring every thought and feeling captive to the obedience of Christ in prayer, asking no longer in anxiety but with thanksgiving, making your requests known to God. Let the word of God dwell in you richly, so that when curious reasonings or spirits of heaviness disturb your faith, you have truth ready at hand. Give thanks in all things, for thanksgiving opens the heart to see that heaven has been opened to earth through Christ.

I pray for you now. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ your Son, who alone is our salvation, I ask that you grant to this dear soul your peace that passes all understanding to guard heart and mind. Still the tumult within, quiet the emotions that rise and fall, and teach this one to walk in godliness and honesty with a quiet and peaceable spirit. Expose the devices of the evil one, bruise Satan under feet shortly according to your promise, and fill this heart with the knowledge of your truth and the comfort of your Spirit. Strengthen this one to be sober and watchful, to rest not in feelings but in Christ, and to grow in that inner beauty which does not fade and which no disease or anxiety can wither. May your grace be with this one, and may love and peace abound. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily, to confess your need of Christ, and to rest in his finished work. He is faithful, and he will keep you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
