Emergency prayers for my dad in the hospital

My ### is currently in the hospital battling the negative effects of chemotherapy. He beat the cancer, but the treatment is killing him. Please pray for complete healing. That he gets his strength back, and his mind, he lost his ability to talk or even be aware of what’s around him… I still need my ###, he can’t go yet… please pray… thank you… God Bless us all…

We are joining with you right now in prayer for your dad and we hear the urgency and love in your heart as you watch him suffer from the effects of chemotherapy. We praise God with you that the cancer has been beaten, and we now ask the Lord who is our healer to restore what the treatment has taken away, to renew his strength, his mind, and his voice, and to bring him back to full awareness and health according to His perfect will.

We are reminded of the compassion and power of our God in His word, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases, Psalm 103:3 and But I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, Jeremiah 30:17. We cling to His promise, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10. And we know Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18. He sees you in this hospital room and He hears your cry that you still need your dad.

We also want to gently encourage you about the way we come to the Father in prayer. You closed with God Bless us all, and we want to remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to God and confidence that He hears us. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is by putting our faith in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are forgiven and can boldly approach the throne of grace. If you have not already, we encourage you to call upon His name and trust Him not only as healer but as Savior, because if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9.

So together we pray to our Father in the name of Jesus.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear father to You. Lord, You know his body, his mind, and every cell that has been affected by chemotherapy. We ask You to touch him with Your healing hand, to cleanse his body of every harmful effect, to restore his strength, to clear his mind, and to return his ability to speak and to be aware of those who love him. We pray You would breathe life and clarity into him again. Lord, guide the hands and minds of the doctors and nurses caring for him, grant them wisdom and skill. We pray for peace for this family who is waiting and hurting, that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. We ask that You would comfort them, sustain them, and let them feel Your nearness in this difficult time. We pray for complete healing if it is Your will, and we trust Your goodness and mercy even as we ask for more time together on this earth. We thank You that You are the God who heals, and we place this beloved dad entirely in Your loving hands. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray, amen.

We will continue to stand with you in prayer, trusting the Lord to work mightily. Please keep seeking Him, pouring out your heart to Him through Jesus, and resting in His love and sovereignty. He is able to do far more than we can ask or imagine, and He holds your dad and your family in His care.

We hear how much you love your dad and how heavy these days in the hospital have been. To hear he beat the cancer yet the treatment has left him so weak, unable to speak or be aware, is a lot to carry, and that ache of still needing him is so understandable. We are holding you both in prayer.

Waiting by a hospital bed can leave the whole family feeling shocked and helpless, and it is exhausting in body and spirit. Please keep close to his care team, ask them to explain what they are seeing day by day, and if you can bring a trusted family member, friend or pastor with you to help listen and remember what is said. In between, try to give yourself short breaks for food, water and rest so you can keep showing up with love.

We are praying for your dad with you, and for you as you walk through this.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this dear father to You, ask for Your mercy and healing according to Your will, for strength in his body and clarity in his mind, and for Your peace to rest on his child who loves him so much. Give wisdom to the doctors and nurses, and sustain this family hour by hour. Amen.

Your heavy burden for your father has been laid before the Lord and we have joined our hearts with yours at the throne of grace. To see one who has been spared from the cancer yet brought so low by the treatment, his strength gone and his mind dimmed so that speech and awareness have left him, is a trial that must wound you deeply. We sorrow with you in this dark valley and we bring your father and your family before our heavenly Father in earnest prayer.

Human strength, as the prophet teaches us, must spend itself and fail. Though a man had the strength of a lion, it would in time be dried up, for all strength apart from God is but borrowed and measurable. But there is a strength that never fails, the inexhaustible omnipotence of our God. The promise still stands, They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. When all our own strength fails us, our strength is to sit still while God becomes our arm every morning and our salvation in the time of trouble.

We have prayed that the Lord who has provided healing leaves for the nations would lay those leaves upon your father. The fruit of Christ is sweet and nourishing, but even the least thing about Christ, even His leaves, are full of healing virtue to change the life blood and revive the fainting spirit. We have asked the Lord Himself to strengthen him, for He has said, I will strengthen them in the Lord. That is a faithful promise and He will wisely and fitly perform it according to His riches in glory.

Let us pray together.

O blessed God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Thou art not a Judge to be dreaded by Thy children but a Father to be loved and trusted. Thou hast shown Thy love in giving Thy Son, and in Him Thou hast provided both pardon and healing. Look in mercy upon this afflicted servant who lies in weakness. Thou seest his frame, Thou knowest the pain the treatment has wrought, Thou seest his mind clouded and his speech taken away. Lord, if it be Thy gracious will, lay Thy healing hand upon him. Renew his strength, restore his mind, open his lips and give him again awareness of those who love him. Let the healing virtue of Christ flow to him and raise him up.

We ask for complete healing as it pleases Thee, for Thou art able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. Yet we bow to Thy sovereign wisdom and say with Thy Son, Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Thy sight. Grant to him and to all his loved ones the comfort of knowing that whether in life or in death, to be in Christ is to be safe. If there be any sin unpardoned, speak that gracious word, Thy sins are forgiven thee, for pardon and healing are one in Thy Son. Give skill and compassion to those who care for him, give patience and hope to his family who watch and wait, and let them find their strength renewed as they wait upon Thee.

May the Father deal with you all according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus, and keep you in perfect peace, trusting Him as little children trust a good father who knows what you have need of before you ask. We will continue to bear you up before the Lord.

May grace and peace be multiplied unto you, and may the Sun of Righteousness arise upon your father and your house with healing in His wings. Amen.
