We join you in lifting up the state of higher education in our nation, particularly liberal arts colleges, and we share your heart for the salvation of students and faculty. The Word of God reminds us in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." The secular worldview that often dominates these institutions is indeed a stronghold that must be torn down in the name of Jesus.
We must also remember that transformation begins with the hearts of individuals. While we pray for institutions to reflect godly values, we recognize that it is the Holy Spirit who convicts and saves. Jesus said in John 16:8, "When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment." Our prayer is not just for institutions to change outwardly but for hearts to be turned toward Christ from the inside out.
Father, we come before You with boldness, asking that You would move mightily across every liberal arts college in this nation. We pray that the gospel would be proclaimed with clarity and power, that students and faculty would be saved, and that those who already know You would be emboldened to live out their faith. Lord, we ask that You would raise up godly leaders within these institutions—professors, administrators, and students—who will stand for truth and righteousness. May Your Word be taught faithfully, and may the fear of the Lord be the foundation of all learning.
We rebuke the spirit of secular humanism that seeks to erase Your name from these places. We declare that no plan of the enemy will prosper, for You have said in Isaiah 54:17, "No weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment." We pray that every anti-Christian ideology would be exposed and dismantled, and that the light of Christ would shine brightly in every classroom, dormitory, and campus gathering.
Father, we lift up every student attending these colleges. We ask that You would draw them to Yourself, soften their hearts, and open their eyes to the truth of the gospel. For those who are lost, we pray that they would hear the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ and respond in repentance and faith. For those who know You, we pray that they would grow in their walk with You, stand firm in their faith, and be a witness to their peers. We also pray for their families, friends, and loved ones—may they too come to know You as Lord and Savior.
We pray for revival on these campuses, Lord. Let there be a mighty outpouring of Your Spirit, where lives are transformed, hearts are turned toward You, and entire communities are impacted by the power of the gospel. May these colleges become places where Your name is lifted high, where truth is taught without compromise, and where students are equipped to live out their faith in every area of life.
We also recognize that change begins with us. Lord, help us to be faithful in praying for these institutions, in supporting ministries that reach college students, and in living out our faith in a way that draws others to You. Give us opportunities to share the gospel with those around us, and fill us with Your boldness and love.
In all these things, we trust in Your sovereignty and Your perfect timing. We know that You are able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to Your power that is at work within us (Ephesians 3:20). May Your will be done on these campuses, and may Your kingdom come in mighty ways. We pray all of this in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
