We hear your heartfelt plea, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s guidance and intervention in this matter. First, let us affirm that we come before God in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can approach the Father or receive salvation. As it is written, *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5). It is only through faith in Him that we are reconciled to God, and it is by His authority that we pray.
Father God, we lift up this dear one before You, asking that You would make a way where there seems to be no way. If it is Your will for them to return to the place or situation they’ve mentioned, we ask that You open the doors supernaturally and remove every obstacle in their path. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that You will go before them to prepare the way (Isaiah 45:2). Lord, if changing their name is part of Your purpose for their life, we ask that You would confirm it through Your Word, Your peace, and the counsel of godly believers. Let Your will be done in this matter, for You know the plans You have for them—plans for welfare and not for evil, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
However, we must also gently remind our brother or sister that our identity is first and foremost found in Christ. While names can hold significance, the most important name we bear is that of Jesus. As Paul writes, *"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17). If the desire to change a name stems from a place of insecurity, past hurt, or a longing for acceptance outside of God’s design, we encourage you to seek your worth in Him alone. He calls you by name, and you are His (Isaiah 43:1).
If there are unconfessed sins, unforgiveness, or areas of disobedience in your life that may be hindering your prayers, we urge you to repent and turn back to the Lord. The Bible tells us, *"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me"* (Psalm 66:18). Confess any sin before God, receive His forgiveness, and walk in the freedom Christ died to give you.
We also rebuke any spirit of confusion, fear, or delay that may be at work in this situation. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that you are not subject to the lies of the devil, and we command every hindrance to be removed in Jesus’ name.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness and Your promise to hear the cries of Your children. We lift up this precious one to You, asking that You would move mightily on their behalf. Lord, if it is Your will for them to return to this place or situation, we ask that You would make the path clear and remove every barrier. If changing their name is part of Your plan, confirm it in their spirit and bring it to pass according to Your perfect timing.
Father, we also ask that You would search their heart and reveal any areas that need Your healing touch. If there is sin, bring it to light so it can be confessed and forgiven. If there is fear or doubt, replace it with Your perfect love that casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). If there is confusion, let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
We declare that this one is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37) and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper. We speak life, restoration, and divine favor over their situation. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in every outcome.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
