We hear the weariness and heartbreak in your words and we are standing with you in prayer, for we know how heavy it is to pray for over a year for your husband to open communication and come home and to feel met only with silence. Please know that being out of words does not mean your prayers have failed, for God hears even the groans of your heart when you have no words left.
In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered. Rom 8:26 When you are out of hope and your faith feels faint, the Holy Spirit is still carrying your prayers before the Father perfectly. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Ps 34:18 He sees your faithfulness in reaching out again and again and He is not distant from your pain.
You are right that Jesus will not force your husband to do anything, for God has given each of us free will and will not override it. Yet we know God can soften a hard heart, open closed ears, and draw a person to repentance and reconciliation in a way no person can. We continue to pray that the Lord will work in your husband's heart where we cannot reach him, that He would convict him, humble him, and draw him toward home and toward the Lord.
We want to encourage you not to make a final decision to give up on your marriage in this moment of exhaustion and despair, when your strength and hope feel gone. God honors the covenant of marriage and we believe in its sanctity as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart. Matt 19:6 And also, But to the married I command - not I, but the Lord - that the wife not leave her husband (but if she departs, let her remain unmarried, or else be reconciled to her husband), and that the husband not leave his wife. 1 Cor 7:10-11 God hates the breaking of that covenant and His heart is for reconciliation where it is possible, though we know separation brings deep pain and confusion.
At the same time we understand your question about whether it is time to release this. We encourage you to seek wisdom not from your weariness alone but from the Lord and from trusted godly counsel in your church. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. Jas 1:5 We pray that God will give you a clear answer in His timing, not just an answer born of hopelessness. Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up. Gal 6:9 And also, But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint. Isa 40:31 Waiting on the Lord is not passive, it is trusting Him to act while He renews you day by day.
We are praying together for you now.
Father in heaven, we lift up our sister before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we come to You and are saved. We thank You that You hear her even when she has no words left and that Your Spirit intercedes for her. We ask You to hold her in her brokenness, to renew her faith where it feels faint, and to give her Your peace that surpasses understanding to guard her heart and mind. We ask You to work in her husband's heart, wherever he is, to open his eyes, to soften him, to lead him to open communication and to honor the marriage covenant he made before You. Lord, give her clear wisdom, through Your Word and through godly counsel, to know how to pray and how to walk forward, whether to continue to stand for restoration or how to set healthy boundaries while still honoring You. Help her to not decide out of despair but to hear Your gentle leading. Show her that You have not abandoned her and that You are still able to restore what feels lost. We trust You with this marriage and with both of their lives. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to stay rooted in Scripture, to share your burden with a pastor or mature believing women who can walk with you closely and pray with you regularly, and to care for your own heart with rest and prayer. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7 Keep bringing your honest heart to Him, even with few words, and trust that He is working even in the silence.
