Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for me that my husband would not pursue divorce. He thinks our marriage is hopeless but I am willing to do better. Please pray that the Lord would turn his mind from divorce. I'm worried for him to get home and actually really mean it this time.

We lift you up before the Lord in this painful and difficult season, knowing that He is the God of restoration, redemption, and miracles. Your heart’s cry for your marriage is precious in His sight, and we stand with you in prayer, believing that what God has joined together, no man—or circumstance—can tear apart. Marriage is a sacred covenant before the Lord, and He despises divorce (Malachi 2:16, WEB: *"For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel*). Yet even in this, His desire is for reconciliation, repentance, and healing. Your willingness to humble yourself and seek change is a beautiful reflection of Christ’s heart for your marriage.

We must first address the spiritual foundation of your home. Is Christ at the center of your marriage? Are both of you surrendered to Him as Lord? If not, this is the starting point for true restoration. The Bible tells us that a house divided cannot stand (Mark 3:25), but when both spouses submit to Christ, there is unity, strength, and hope. If your husband is not walking with the Lord, we pray fervently for his salvation and softening of his heart. If he is a believer, we pray for conviction and repentance, that he would turn from hardness of heart and embrace God’s design for marriage.

Your fear that he may follow through with divorce when he returns home is understandable, but we urge you to cast that fear upon the Lord. Fear is not from Him (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB: *For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control*). Instead, cling to faith, knowing that God is able to change your husband’s mind and heart. Remember the story of Abigail in 1 Samuel 25—her wisdom, humility, and intervention averted disaster in her home. Likewise, your prayers and actions, rooted in godly wisdom, can turn the tide.

We also encourage you to examine your own heart before the Lord. You mentioned a willingness to “do better”—this is commendable, but let it be rooted in obedience to God rather than merely winning your husband’s approval. Ask the Lord to reveal any areas where you may have contributed to the brokenness in your marriage, whether through words, actions, or attitudes. Seek His forgiveness and strength to walk in love, patience, and kindness (Colossians 3:12-14). At the same time, if there has been unrepentant sin on your husband’s part—such as adultery, abuse, or abandonment—know that while God calls us to forgive, He does not call us to enable sin or remain in danger. Seek wise, biblical counsel if this is the case.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this sister and her marriage. Lord, You are the God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). We ask that You would intervene mightily in this situation. Softening our sister’s husband’s heart, Lord—turn his mind from divorce and fill him with a spirit of reconciliation. Remove any hardness, bitterness, or deception from his heart and replace it with Your love and mercy. If he has been influenced by the enemy or by ungodly counsel, break those chains in Jesus’ name. Let him see this marriage through Your eyes—as a covenant worth fighting for.

Lord, we pray for supernatural restoration. Where there has been brokenness, bring healing. Where there has been division, bring unity. Where there has been sin, bring repentance and forgiveness. Give this sister the wisdom to know how to speak and act in a way that honors You, and give her the strength to trust You even when she cannot see the outcome. Fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

We rebuke the spirit of divorce that seeks to destroy this marriage. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we bind every scheme of the enemy and declare that this marriage will stand firm on the foundation of Your Word. Let Your will be done, Lord—not as the world sees it, but as You ordain it. If there is any area of unrepentant sin in either spouse’s life, convict them deeply and lead them to true repentance.

Father, we ask that You would surround this sister with godly support—believers who will stand with her in prayer, offer wise counsel, and encourage her in Your truth. If she needs to seek pastoral or biblical counseling, open those doors and provide the resources she needs.

Finally, Lord, we pray that both she and her husband would draw closer to You individually. May this trial drive them to their knees, seeking Your face above all else. Let their marriage be a testimony of Your redeeming power, that others may see and glorify Your name.

We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Stand firm, sister. Do not lose heart. The Lord sees your tears, hears your prayers, and is able to do far more than you could ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). Keep praying, keep trusting, and keep walking in obedience to Him. If your husband is unwilling to reconcile, continue to honor the Lord in all you do, knowing that He is your ultimate provider, protector, and redeemer. But for now, we believe with you for a miracle—because our God is in the business of miracles.

Dear sister, we're here with you, holding your hands up to the Lord. We've been reflecting on your situation and wanted to share a few more thoughts with you.

Firstly, remember that God is a God of second chances and restoration. In the parable of the prodigal son, the father welcomed his wayward son back with open arms, clothing him, putting a ring on his finger, and killing the fatted calf (Luke 15:11-32). This is a picture of God's heart for your marriage. He wants to restore it, to bring it back to life, and He's not willing to give up on it without a fight.

We also want to encourage you to focus on what you can control. You can't make your husband change his mind or his heart, but you can make sure you're doing all you can to honor God in your actions and attitudes. In 1 Peter 3:1-6, we're told that a godly woman's conduct can win her husband over without a word spoken. So, keep praying, keep trusting, and keep living in a way that honors God.

Also, consider seeking support from other believers. Sometimes, talking things over with a trusted friend or a mentor can bring fresh perspective and encouragement. Don't hesitate to reach out to your church community as well. The body of Christ is there to support you in times like these.

Lastly, let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come before You today, lifting up our sister and her marriage. Lord, You are the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way. We ask that You would intervene in this situation. Softening her husband's heart, Lord - turn his mind from divorce and fill him with a spirit of reconciliation. Give him a vision of this marriage as something worth fighting for, something worth saving. Lord, we ask for supernatural restoration. Where there has been brokenness, bring healing. Where there has been division, bring unity. Give our sister the wisdom to know how to speak and act in a way that honors You, and give her the strength to trust You even when she can't see the outcome. Fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Father, please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, financial needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen
"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
