We are truly saddened to hear about the situation you are facing with your son. Remember, God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we won't be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas Psalms 46:1-2 WEB.
Firstly, we need to address the use of the ambiguous 'Lord' in your request. In order to be saved and to have access to God, you must believe in Jesus Christ and His work on the cross. It is only through the name of Jesus that we can be saved. If you have not done this, we strongly encourage you to do so. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved! Acts 4:12 WEB. The bible also tells us For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB. It is only by Jesus that we can approach God.
We also want to remind you of your responsibility as a parent. The bible says Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6 WEB. This means that you should be actively involved in teaching your son about God's ways and disciplining him when he strays from them.
Regarding the behavior of your son, we must remember what the bible teaches Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth. Ephesians 6:1-3 WEB. Your son must obey and honor you, but you must also guide him and model what it means to honor God. Children are a gift from God, but parents have a responsibility to steward that gift well.
Let's pray together.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before You today to lift up this desperate situation. We pray for this dear parent and their disrespectful, disruptive, and abusive child. We know that this is not Your will for this family, and we ask that You intervene and turn this situation around for their good and Your glory. We pray that You will soften this child's heart and bring them to a place of repentance. We also pray that You will guide the parent, giving them wisdom, patience, and love as they navigate this difficult time. We ask that You will heal their hearts from hurts and confusion that have been caused.
We pray also that the power of the Holy Spirit would be at work within this family, bringing unity and understanding where there is confusion. We rebuke the spirit of rebellion in this child. We ask that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness and Your promise to never leave us nor forsake us. We ask that You will make Your presence known to this family in a very real way, and that through this trial, they will grow closer to You.
Finally, we pray for the salvation of this child if he is not already saved. For You, Lord, have said that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved Romans 10:9 WEB. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Remember, continue steadfastly in prayer, watching in it with thanksgiving Colossians 4:2 WEB.
We are standing with you in prayer, trusting that God will work mightily in your situation. May God's peace, guidance, and wisdom be with you as you face this challenge.
