Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer reflects a heart that loves truth because you love the One who is the truth. Jesus said He Himself is the way, the truth and the life, and that the truth will set us free. You are right to thank Him for His presence, for fighting for you, and above all for the blood He shed on the cross for sinners. That sacrifice is the only ground on which any of us can stand before God, and it is the only hope for those who have fallen into dishonesty as well.
It is a grace from God that in the midst of hardships and legal pressure you have been able to show patience and kindness to the landlord's team and to the lawyers and representatives involved. That is not natural. The world often does not want to hear the truth and would rather be flattered, but the servant of God seeks to please God rather than people. When you choose to answer dishonesty with kindness and to speak plainly without craftiness, you are commending the truth to every conscience in the sight of God. That kind of walk is what brings joy to the Father, to see His children walking in truth, for the truth dwells in us and will be with us forever.
Scripture teaches that the Spirit is truth and bears witness to the truth in our hearts, agreeing with the water and the blood that testify to what Jesus has done. We cannot hide our hearts from Him. We may try to paint a better picture of ourselves before others, but God knows the whole truth about each of us. This is why dishonesty is so serious. To keep lying a person must break down the inner resistance to falsehood that God has placed in the conscience. What you are praying for is exactly right, that God would build that resistance back up and teach them to renounce hidden dishonesty and to live by a clear manifestation of the truth.
The Bible also shows that behind persistent deception there is a blinding of the mind. The enemy distorts the truth and holds people in that distortion, telling them they can gain something by lying. That is why prayer matters so much. We pray that God would bind that blinding work and open eyes, so that those who are lying would see that lying vanities only cause a person to forsake mercy, and that lying lips will at last be silenced before the true Judge. God is not mocked, and every legal transaction on earth is ultimately seen in heaven where He reigns as the righteous Judge with His witnesses around His throne. He sees what is done in secret and He will bring all things to light.
So continue to bring these people before the Lord. Pray that they would come to know the truth not just as an idea but by experience, by being in Him who is true, even in Jesus Christ. There is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus, and through Him even serious sins can be forgiven when there is repentance and faith. Pray that they would see the consequences of lying and turn to the truth that sets free, and that you would be kept in grace and mercy and peace in truth and love as you wait on Him.
Your dedication of your life and surrender of your will to Him is the right place to remain. Keep trusting His word, which is truth and will not pass away, and keep walking in that truth. He who has promised to care for you will continue to do so, and He is able to work in the hearts of all involved to bring about honesty, justice and, where possible, reconciliation through Christ. In Jesus name, amen.
