Dishonesty

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before you.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
We thank you for your presence in our lives.
Thank you for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts.
Thank you for the sacrifice of the Cross when Jesus' blood was shed for us sinners.
Lord, lies are serious crimes,
Lord we also pray for the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representative.
Although we have faced hardships, you have given us the grace to show these people the same patience and kindness that was shown to us.
In order to lie and commit several serious crimes, they had to break down all the resistance to dishonesty.
Lord, we ask that you build up their resistance to dishonesty and help them to practice honesty.
Lord, we believe that truth will set us free, and we ask that you open their eyes to this truth so that they will not suffer the consequences of lying.
We dedicate our lives to you and surrender our will to you.
In Jesus name,
Amen

We join you in this prayer and we thank you for coming before the Father in the name of Jesus, for as you have prayed, Jesus himself said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. We agree with you in thanking God for His presence, for fighting for us, and for the sacrifice of the cross where the blood of Jesus was shed for us sinners while we were still sinners.

We hear your burden about dishonesty and the serious harm that comes when lies are told, especially in legal matters involving your landlord's team, lawyers and legal representatives. God takes truth very seriously because He himself is truth. Scripture is clear that lying is not a small fault but a sin that grieves God. Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who deal truly are his delight. Proverbs 12:22 and You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. Exodus 20:16. We are also taught Therefore putting away falsehood, speak truth each one with his neighbor. For we are members of one another. Ephesians 4:25 and Don't lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings. Colossians 3:9.

We commend you for the grace God has given you to show patience and kindness to those who have caused you hardship, even as they have had to break down their own resistance to dishonesty in order to continue in falsehood. That is the nature of sin, it hardens the heart step by step. We join you in praying that God will rebuild in them a holy resistance to dishonesty and a love for honesty. We pray that their eyes would be opened to the truth that you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. John 8:32. For lies may seem to offer advantage for a time, but they bring consequences and they cannot stand before a holy God who sees all and will judge righteously. We are reminded not to take vengeance into our own hands, for it is written Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord. Romans 12:19. Our call is to remain truthful ourselves, to seek justice rightly and peacefully through lawful means, and to trust God to bring what is hidden into the light, for there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed. Luke 8:17.

We pray together for you and for them.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus we come before you and we thank you that you are the God of truth and that your word is truth. We thank you for your mercy to us when we were still sinners and for the grace you give us to walk in patience and kindness even toward those who have wronged us. Lord, we lift up this landlord's team, the lawyers and legal representatives, and we ask that you convict their hearts where there has been falsehood and dishonesty. Build up in them a strong resistance to lying and give them a desire to practice honesty in all they say and do. Open their eyes to know that lying lips are an abomination to you and that the truth will set them free. Grant them repentance and turn them from deceit to integrity so they will not suffer the consequences of lying but will find forgiveness and new life in Christ. For those who have been harmed, we ask for your protection, for wisdom, for favor in seeking what is just and right, and for peace as they surrender their will to you. Help us all to put away falsehood and to speak truth in love, dedicating our lives fully to you. We trust you to be our defender and our judge. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We were so encouraged reading your prayer. In the middle of a hard dispute with your landlord's team and their lawyers, you are not only asking God for justice but asking Him to change hearts toward honesty. That takes real grace, especially when you have already faced hardship because of dishonesty.

We hear how much you value truth and how you have tried to meet this situation with the same patience and kindness you have received. Holding to honesty when others have not is wearying, and it is understandable to feel both tired and hopeful at once. Wanting truth to come to light is not just about winning a case, it is about wanting everyone involved to be free from the weight that lies bring.

It can help to keep a clear, factual record of what is said and decided, and to bring a trusted friend or advisor with you to any meetings so you are not carrying the details alone. Continuing to walk honestly yourself, as you are doing, is a quiet witness even when you cannot control how others act.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift this situation to You. Guard our brother/sister in this process, give wisdom and steadiness, and work in the hearts of all involved that truth would be spoken and honored. Keep them close to You as they surrender their lives and will to You. Amen.

We have heard your earnest supplication and we join our hearts with yours at the mercy seat in the name of Jesus Christ, who is Himself the way, the truth and the life.

We thank God with you for His presence, for His heavenly gifts, and above all for the sacrifice of the Cross where the blood of Jesus was shed for sinners. There is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved, and it is only through that atoning blood that we may draw near to a holy God. On that ground of truth we come, confessing our own sin and pleading the merit of Christ who died for sinners.

You have rightly said that lies are a serious crime. The Lord God is abundant in goodness and truth, His very name is truth, and He cannot lie. Lying lips are an abomination to Him, and He has declared that His truth endures to all generations. Sooner shall heaven and earth pass away than one word of our God shall fall to the ground. To practice dishonesty is to walk contrary to His holy nature, and to do so habitually a man must indeed break down every resistance of conscience which God has placed within him. We therefore make your prayer our own, that the Lord would build up again in these men, the landlord's team and lawyers and legal representatives, a holy resistance to falsehood and a love for honesty.

We commend the grace which God has already given you, that in the midst of hardship you have been enabled to show patience and kindness to those who have opposed you. This is to overcome evil with good, which is the Christian's calling. Truth never exerts such power as when it is embodied in a life, and Christ did not merely speak the truth, He was truth, transparent from head to foot, truth in word and truth in deed. May the same Spirit work in you to keep truth in doctrine, truth in the heart, and truth in the life.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, pleading His blood and righteousness. We thank You that You are a God of truth who keeps covenant and mercy. We confess that we are sinners in need of Your pardon, and we thank You for a real atonement and a real pardon offered in Christ.

Lord, You see the dishonesty that has been practiced and the many serious wrongs that have followed. Bring conviction where there has been deceit. Open the eyes of these men to see that a lie is not a light thing before You, and that he who has not truth in him has not life in him. Grant them honest dealing with You, to confess their sin as it is, and honest dealing with their fellow men. Build up in them a hatred for falsehood and a love for that which is true and right. May they learn to buy the truth and sell it not, to buy it at any price, to hold it in doctrine and in heart and in practice.

Lord, we ask that truth may indeed set them free, not merely from the consequences of lying, but from the bondage of sin itself through faith in Jesus Christ. And for Your children who have suffered under this dishonesty, strengthen their faith in the storm, take from them all fear of man, and ensure their submission to Your sovereign will. Keep them valiant for Your truth, and cause them to hang upon Your faithful promise as a pitcher hangs upon a nail.

We dedicate our lives anew to You and surrender our will to Yours, trusting not in our own way but in Your perfect wisdom and justice. Do Your will, Lord, and let Your truth prevail in this matter, for Your glory.

In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope and King of Truth, Amen.
