Dishonesty

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before you.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
We thank you for your presence in our lives.
Thank you for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts.
Thank you for the sacrifice of the Cross when Jesus' blood was shed for us sinners.
Lord, lies are serious crimes,
Lord we also pray for the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representative.
Although we have faced hardships, you have given us the grace to show these people the same patience and kindness that was shown to us.
In order to lie and commit several serious crimes, they had to break down all the resistance to dishonesty.
Lord, we ask that you build up their resistance to dishonesty and help them to practice honesty.
Lord, we believe that truth will set us free, and we ask that you open their eyes to this truth so that they will not suffer the consequences of lying.
We dedicate our lives to you and surrender our will to you.

We join you in agreement before the Father in the name of Jesus and we thank you for coming boldly in that name, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. We rejoice that you have acknowledged the sacrifice of the cross and the blood shed for us sinners, and we stand with you in thankfulness for His presence and for His fighting for you and blessing you with heavenly gifts.

We agree with you that lies are serious before God. Scripture tells us Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. Proverbs 12:22 and that we are to put away falsehood and speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Ephesians 4:25. A heart that practices dishonesty must indeed harden itself and break down the conscience God has given, step by step, until lying becomes easier. That is why your prayer for their resistance to dishonesty to be built up again is so biblical and so loving. God desires truth in the inward parts and He calls all people to walk in honesty, for you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. John 8:32. We also remember that all liars will have their part outside of God's kingdom unless they repent, so your intercession for the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representatives that their eyes would be opened is an act of mercy that seeks their salvation and not just your vindication. Revelation 21:8 reminds us how seriously God views false witness.

We are encouraged by your grace in showing patience and kindness to those who have caused you hardship. That reflects the heart of Christ in you. We encourage you to continue to speak the truth in love, to not repay evil for evil, and to trust the Lord to be your defender and judge, for He sees all and will bring every deed into judgment. Continue to commit your cause to Him who judges righteously, keeping your own lips from deceit as you have prayed, and asking Him for wisdom in every legal matter.

We pray together now. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this situation to You. You are the God of truth and there is no darkness in You. We ask that You convict the hearts of the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representatives where dishonesty has taken root. Build up in them a holy resistance to lying, restore their consciences, and grant them repentance that they may practice honesty and walk in the freedom that only truth brings. Open their eyes to see that a lie may seem to profit for a moment but it brings bondage and judgment, while honesty honors You and brings peace. For our brother and sister who has been wronged, we ask that You continue to guard their heart with patience and kindness, to strengthen them to not grow weary, to provide justice according to Your will, and to let Your truth prevail in every proceeding. Help them to continue to surrender their will to Yours and to dedicate their lives fully to You, trusting that You fight for them. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Thank you for bringing this painful situation before the Lord so honestly. Wanting truth to prevail while also praying for the very people who have wronged you is not easy, and we hear the grace in how you are choosing to respond.

It stood out to us that you thanked God even in hardship and asked Him to help those on the landlord's team grow in honesty rather than asking for harm to come to them. That kind of prayer keeps your own heart free even as you still seek what is right and true to be made clear. Choosing to release the desire for payback does not mean pretending the wrong did not happen or stopping the proper pursuit of truth through the right channels.

If it would help in the days ahead, it can be steadying to keep a simple, factual written record of what was said and done and when, and to lean on one or two trusted, wise counselors as you navigate the legal process. Continuing to walk in truth yourselves, as you are, is its own quiet witness.

Father, we lift this whole matter to You in Jesus name. Guard these friends in this dispute, give wisdom to everyone who seeks the truth, and work in the hearts of all involved to love honesty and turn from lies. Give our friends peace, patience, and clear next steps as they surrender their lives and will to You. Amen.

We join with you in this prayer before the throne of grace, thanking God that you have come in the name of Jesus who is Himself the way, the truth and the life. We praise Him with you for His presence, for His fighting for you, and for the heavenly gifts which come through the blood shed on the Cross for sinners.

Your petition is right and timely, for lies are indeed serious before a God who is abundant in goodness and truth and who cannot lie. Holy Scripture is the standard of the truth of God, and your Word is truth. As we have often said, we must buy the truth and sell it not, and that means truth in doctrine, truth in the heart, and truth in the life. To have Christ who is the truth to be our treasure forever is to love truth in all our dealings, in public and in private, in word and in deed.

You have prayed as those who would overcome evil with good, asking not for vengeance upon the landlord's team, the lawyers and legal representatives, but for grace for them. This is Christlike. Truth never exerts such power as when it is embodied, and Christ did not merely speak the truth, He was truth, transparent from head to foot. May that same Spirit work in all who are concerned in this matter.

We pray with you that the Lord will build up in them a resistance to dishonesty and a love for honesty. We ask that He will open their eyes to see that a lie must break down every resistance to dishonesty before it can be told, and that He will grant them honest dealing with God and with man. When we come to our heavenly Father on the ground of truth, confessing what is true about our sin and trusting what is true about Christ who died for sinners, He meets us through the atoning blood. May He grant them such honesty, that they may know the truth will indeed set them free, for whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

We also pray for you, that you may continue to show the same patience and kindness that was shown to you, and that you may be kept valiant for truth in this trial. This war between right and wrong must be continued until truth has the victory. Remember that your fear of man should be taken away by confidence in the eternal truth of God, which endures to all generations. Sooner shall heaven and earth pass away than one promise of our God shall fall to the ground. Strengthen your faith by resting on that truth, and by submitting your will wholly to His.

We commend you and all these persons to Him who is King of truth and who rules His people by the truth of His doctrine, His life and His person. May He cause truth to reign in every heart and bring forth justice tempered with mercy, and may He keep you in His peace as you dedicate your lives anew to Him.
