Dishonesty

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before you.
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
We thank you for your presence in our lives.
Thank you for fighting for us and blessing us with heavenly gifts.
Thank you for the sacrifice of the Cross when Jesus' blood was shed for us sinners.
Lord, lies are serious crimes,
Lord we also pray for the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representative.
Although we have faced hardships, you have given us the grace to show these people the same patience and kindness that was shown to us.
In order to lie and commit several serious crimes, they had to break down all the resistance to dishonesty.
Lord, we ask that you build up their resistance to dishonesty and help them to practice honesty.
Lord, we believe that truth will set us free, and we ask that you open their eyes to this truth so that they will not suffer the consequences of lying.
We dedicate our lives to you and surrender our will to you.

We join you in this powerful prayer and we thank you for coming before the Father in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to God and it is only through His shed blood on the Cross that we sinners are forgiven and reconciled to God. We rejoice that you have acknowledged that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life as He said in John 14:6, and that you are seeking truth in a situation that has been marked by dishonesty.

We agree with you that lies are serious before the Lord. Scripture tells us that lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight in Proverbs 12:22, and that all liars will have their part outside the kingdom unless they repent as warned in Revelation 21:8. When people choose to lie and commit other wrongs, they do indeed have to harden their conscience and break down the resistance to dishonesty that God has placed within us. Your prayer for the landlord's team, lawyers and legal representatives is Christlike, for you are choosing to show the same patience and kindness that has been shown to you, even while facing hardships.

We are encouraged by your understanding that truth brings freedom, for Jesus said you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free in John 8:32. Dishonesty may seem to bring short term advantage, but it brings bondage and painful consequences, while honesty brings freedom and peace with God and man.

We also take to heart your desire to see them built up in honesty. The Word calls us to put away falsehood and speak truth each one with his neighbor, for we are members of one another in Ephesians 4:25, and to not lie to one another in Colossians 3:9. We pray that God will soften their hearts and open their eyes to see that His way is better.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this situation to You. You see the hardships that have been endured and the dishonesty that has been at work. Lord, You are a God of truth and justice and mercy, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We ask that You would work in the hearts of the landlord's team, the lawyers and every legal representative involved. Convict them where there has been lying and wrongdoing, and build up in them a holy resistance to dishonesty. Help them to love truth, to practice honesty, and to turn from any deceit. Open their eyes to know that truth will set them free and that walking in lies only leads to judgment and sorrow.

Father, we also pray for those who have been wronged in this matter. Grant them Your peace that surpasses all understanding, strengthen them to continue to show patience and kindness without compromising truth, and fight for them as only You can. Let Your will be done and let truth and justice prevail in this legal matter. Help them to speak the truth in love as taught in Zechariah 8:16, and to trust You as their defender and provider. We dedicate and surrender all of this again to You, asking for Your grace to endure and Your wisdom to act righteously.

We thank You for Your presence, for Your heavenly gifts, and most of all for the sacrifice of Jesus whose blood was shed for us. Continue to lead and keep all involved in Your truth. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

We were grateful to read your prayer. To keep praying for honesty for the very people whose dishonesty has caused you hardship takes real grace, and we hear both the hurt underneath and the kindness you are choosing to show them.

Wanting them to grow in resistance to dishonesty is a loving way to pray. It asks God to work for their good as well as yours, that they would come to love truth and be spared the harder consequences that come with lying. That kind of prayer does not mean the hurt disappears quickly. You can make a steady decision to treat others with patience and goodwill while still feeling the ache and frustration that hard experiences leave behind, and both can be true at once.

It helps to keep walking in the honesty you are praying for in others. Continuing to be truthful in your own words and records, staying consistent in prayer as you have been, and leaning on a trusted pastor or wise counselor for support as legal matters continue can keep you grounded when things feel uncertain.

Father, thank you for Your presence with our friends and for the grace You have already shown them. We ask You to guard their hearts in this season, to deepen their peace as they surrender their will to You, and to work in the hearts of the landlord's team and legal representatives, drawing them toward honesty and integrity. Give everyone involved wisdom and a desire for what is right. In Jesus' name, Amen.

We join with you in prayer before the God of truth, giving thanks that you have come in the name of Jesus who is the way, the truth and the life, and whose blood was shed on the Cross for sinners.

We thank the Lord with you for His presence and for heavenly gifts, and for the grace He has already given you to show patience and kindness to those who have opposed you, even as you have faced hardships. This is to overcome evil with good, and it is a testimony that the truth is at work in your own heart.

You have prayed rightly, for lies are indeed a serious matter before a holy God, who desires truth in the inward parts and whose Word is truth. We do well to remember the counsel to buy the truth and sell it not, to have truth not only in doctrine according to Holy Scripture, but truth in the heart and truth in the life, consistent and straightforward in all our dealings. Christ Himself is the Truth, and to have Him is to have the treasure that makes us free, for as you have said, the truth shall make you free.

We now bring before the Lord the landlord's team, the lawyers and legal representatives of whom you speak. We ask the Father to work in them by His Spirit, to build up in them a resistance to dishonesty and to grant them a love for honesty. May He open their eyes to see that a lie must break down every barrier of conscience before it can be uttered, and may He restore that barrier and strengthen it. We pray that He would bring them to honest dealing with God and with men, confessing what is true and forsaking what is false, that they may not suffer the bitter consequences of deceit but may walk in the light where truth dwells.

We ask also for you, that the Lord would keep you in His truth, that you may continue steadfast in patience, in kindness, and in surrender to His will, dedicating your life anew to Him each day. May He guard your own lips and heart, and may He fight for you and cause His justice and mercy to be seen.

We commend all these matters to our faithful God, who cannot lie and who has promised to lead His people in truth, trusting that He hears prayer offered in the name of Jesus.
