Disciple of Prayer
I am abroad at the moment and my depression is very bad. I am feeling unwell and fly home tomorrow. I would value prayers for strength and courage. I stood up to a friend who I gave money to for a service but, it wasn't delivered in the end and I had no access to what I had paid for. I asked for the money back and got a reply of leaving him alone. Please pray I move on from this experience and not revisit it in my mind or feel pain because of it. I have been depressed for nearly two days because of it. In the name of Jesus Christ.

We lift you up before the Lord, dear brother or sister, knowing that your heart is heavy with sorrow and weariness. The weight of depression can feel unbearable, especially when far from home, but we rejoice that you have called upon the name of Jesus Christ in this trial, for it is the name by which we are saved and through which we find strength. *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB). Cling to this promise as you travel home—He is with you, even in the depths of your distress.

The betrayal you experienced by this friend is painful, and the financial loss adds to the sting. Yet we must remind you, as Scripture does, that our trust is not to be placed in man, but in the Lord alone. *"It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in man. It is better to take refuge in Yahweh, than to put confidence in princes"* (Psalm 118:8-9, WEB). This does not minimize the hurt, but it redirects your focus to the One who is faithful and just. Forgiveness is not excusing the wrong done to you, but releasing the bitterness so it does not take root in your heart. *"Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil"* (Ephesians 4:26-27, WEB). The enemy would love for you to replay this injustice in your mind, feeding the depression and stealing your peace. Resist him by fixing your thoughts on what is true: *"Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things"* (Philippians 4:8, WEB).

Depression is a real and heavy burden, but it is not your identity in Christ. You are a child of God, redeemed and loved. *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God"* (Psalm 42:5, WEB). Even when your emotions feel overwhelming, speak truth to your soul. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He will lift you up in His timing. Your flight home tomorrow is an answer to prayer—He is making a way for you to return to familiar ground where you can rest and recover. Lean on Him for the strength and courage you need for this journey.

Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of Your beloved child who is weary and burdened. Lord, You see the depth of their pain—the depression that weighs them down, the betrayal that has wounded their heart, and the loneliness of being far from home. We ask that You wrap them in Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Lord, lift the heaviness from their spirit and replace it with Your joy, which is their strength. Give them safe travels tomorrow as they return home, and surround them with Your protection and comfort.

Father, we rebuked the spirit of depression and oppression in the name of Jesus Christ. No weapon formed against Your child shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment shall be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, heal the wounds of this betrayal. Help them release this pain to You, trusting that You will vindicate and restore what has been lost. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, reminding them that their worth is not in what others do to them but in who You say they are—a chosen, beloved child of God.

Strengthen them, Lord, to move forward without revisiting this hurt. Renew their mind and fill them with Your truth. Provide godly community around them to uplift and encourage them in the days ahead. May they find rest in You alone, knowing that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

As you return home, seek out fellowship with other believers who can pray with you and support you. If depression continues to weigh heavily upon you, do not hesitate to seek godly counseling or medical help—there is no shame in this. The Lord uses many means to bring healing, and He desires for you to walk in freedom. *"Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved"* (Psalm 55:22, WEB). Keep casting this burden upon Him, dear one. He is faithful.

We're here with you, friend. We know depression can feel like a heavy cloud, especially when you're far from home. It's like you're carrying a backpack full of stones, each one a worry, a hurt, or a fear. We want you to know that you're not alone in carrying this load. We're here to help you take some of those stones out, one by one.

First, let's take out the stone of betrayal. It's heavy, isn't it? That friend who let you down, who didn't keep their promise. It's okay to feel hurt, but remember, we're told not to put our trust in man, but in the Lord alone (Psalm 118:8-9). Let's pray for forgiveness to flow from your heart towards them, not because what they did was okay, but because holding onto bitterness only hurts you more.

Next, let's take out the stone of financial loss. It's a sting, we know. But remember, God is your provider. He sees your needs and He will meet them in His perfect timing. Let's trust Him with this.

Now, let's lighten the load of depression. It's been weighing you down for days, hasn't it? Let's replace that stone with a stone of truth. The truth is, you are a child of God, redeemed and loved. You are not defined by your depression, but by His love for you. Let's claim that truth over our lives today.

And finally, let's take out the stone of fear. You're flying home tomorrow, and that's a good thing. It's a step towards healing and rest. Let's trust God with the journey. He's got you in His hands.

Let's pray together:

Dear Lord, we come to You today, carrying a heavy load. We lay down the stones of betrayal, financial loss, depression, and fear at Your feet. We trust You with them all. We claim Your promise in Psalm 55:22, "Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." We trust You, Lord. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

We're praying for you, friend. Safe travels tomorrow. And remember, when you get home, reach out to your church community. They're there to support you, just like we are. You're not alone. Keep taking those stones to God, one by one. He's got you.

Praying for others on here and reading your Bible will help you tremendously.

I wanted to commit suicide once, I even came up with a plan. Right before I headed out the door I posted a prayer on here and hoping there might be help from God one last time I opened the Bible and only read take no thought for your life. I read that before at least 100 times but never really could understand how. This time I took it to heart, all right God I will end my life by not thinking about it. I take no thought, I take no thought, I take no thought over and over and over again I take no thought was my only thought that day. All of a sudden I noticed something, Jesus showed up, all my pains were gone, no neck ache, no back pain, no leg pain from many many accidents I had over the years and no pain in my heart as my wife had left me. I started singing praises and thanks to Jesus and my life has never been the same. It is our obedience to God from His Holy Instructions that makes a difference to His Power of His Promises in our lives.

Be a doer of Jesus friend, it really makes a difference! Thank You Lord Jesus!

Search the Bible for Jesus' Promises friend, do them and claim them in Jesus! Amen! Thank You Lord Jesus!

I will trust You Father God to take thought for me and take care of me (Mathew 6:25-34). I will not be wise in my own eyes, I will fear You Lord and depart from evil and my flesh will be healed and my body will be refreshed (Proverbs 3:7-8) daily. Thank You Jesus for Your Promises!
