Good and Faithful Servant
I have been experiencing certain demonic attacks for years due to time that I spent in the new age (even though I returned back to Christ years ago). These attacks may be persisting due to me struggling with unforgiveness and thus opening myself up to demonic torment because of this. Well, I am experiencing a lot of demonic attacks related to a relationship I ended recently due to my being very unequally yoked to that person and the relationship also generally being outside of God's will. These attacks include unwanted divination thoughts about things this person is doing now (these kinds of unwanted thoughts are often accurate). It is likely that this person was unfaithful to me and not really serious about me during our relationship and now I'm being bombarded with thoughts of them moving on to new people including with people who I thought were my friends. This is all very disturbing. Please pray it would stop. For certain reasons, these thoughts start to become alluring to draw me back toward the new age and I'm trying to resist them. Thank you.

We hear your cry for deliverance and freedom, and we stand with you in the authority of Jesus Christ to break every chain of demonic oppression. Your past involvement in the new age has left spiritual doors open, but the blood of Jesus is more than sufficient to cleanse and close them. The enemy seeks to torment you with divination, unforgiveness, and alluring thoughts to draw you back into bondage, but we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The Lord is your strong tower, and you can run into Him and be safe (Proverbs 18:10).

First, we must address the sin of unforgiveness in your heart. Scripture is clear: "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses" (Matthew 6:14-15). Unforgiveness is a foothold the enemy uses to keep you in torment (Ephesians 4:26-27). We urge you to release this person to God, trusting Him to bring justice and healing. Forgiveness is not about excusing their sin but about freeing yourself from the prison of bitterness. The Lord sees your pain, and He will repay (Romans 12:19).

The relationship you described was unequally yoked and outside of God’s will, likely involving emotional or physical intimacy that dishonored Him. The Bible warns, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Sexual immorality and emotional entanglements with unbelievers open doors to spiritual attack. We rebuke the spirit of lust, divination, and torment in Jesus’ name. The enemy wants you to dwell on these thoughts, but we command them to cease. "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5).

We also address the allure of the new age. The enemy will tempt you with familiar spirits and false comforts, but Jesus is the only way, truth, and life (John 14:6). Renounce any lingering ties to new age practices, meditation, divination, energy work, or any form of idolatry. "Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry" (1 Corinthians 10:14). The Lord is calling you to deeper holiness and intimacy with Him. Fill your mind with Scripture, worship, and godly fellowship. "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).

Let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name. We thank You for Your mercy and grace toward [this individual]. Lord, we ask that You break every chain of demonic oppression in their life. Close every door that was opened through new age practices, unforgiveness, and unequally yoked relationships. We rebuke the spirits of divination, lust, torment, and deception in Jesus’ name. Father, fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in freedom and victory.

Lord, we ask that You heal their heart from the pain of betrayal and unfaithfulness. Help them to forgive this person completely, releasing them into Your hands. Guard their mind from unwanted thoughts and fill them with Your peace. Strengthen them to resist the allure of the new age and to stand firm in Your truth. Surround them with godly believers who will encourage and support them. May they find their identity and worth in You alone.

We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, they shall condemn. This is their heritage as Your servant, and their righteousness is from You, O Lord (Isaiah 54:17). We thank You for Your deliverance and ask that You continue to lead them into all truth. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek deliverance prayer from mature believers in your church, particularly those experienced in spiritual warfare. Confess any lingering sins, repent, and walk in obedience to God’s Word. The enemy has no authority over you as a child of God, but you must stand firm in your identity in Christ. "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). You are not alone in this battle, God is with you, and we stand with you in prayer.

We heard how heavy this has been for you, carrying these intrusive thoughts for years after leaving the new age, and now feeling them intensify after ending a relationship that you knew was not right for you. It makes sense that thoughts that feel accurate would be both deeply disturbing and strangely alluring, pulling at an old way of trying to know and control what hurts. We are grateful you are recognizing that pull and choosing to resist it.

What you shared about unforgiveness is understandable. Often forgiveness begins as a simple decision to release the debt and hand the need for justice over to God, even while feelings of hurt, anger and fear are still very present. Those emotions tend to soften more slowly, as rumination eases and God gently replaces resentment with something more healing over time. When you notice yourself replaying the story or following the divination-like thoughts, quietly turning to prayer instead can be a steady way to care for your mind and heart.

You do not have to walk through this alone. It can help to invite one or two trusted mature believers to pray with you regularly, to clearly renounce any remaining ties to new age practices, and to help you fill daily life with Scripture, prayer and fellowship. If you still have books, objects or contacts from that season, letting them go can be a concrete way to close that door.

We are praying for you.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see the years of struggle, the recent hurt, and the unwanted thoughts that feel so intrusive. Guard their mind and bring Your peace where there has been torment. Help them to rest in Your forgiveness, to release what needs to be released to You, and to keep turning from old paths toward Your presence. Surround them with wise fellowship and steady strength in the days ahead. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Your cry has been heard, and there is hope set before you in the gospel, for it is written, Then He is gracious unto him, and says, Deliver him from going down to the Pit: I have found a ransom. Let it never be forgotten that in all that God does, He acts from good reasons, and your affliction has not sprung out of the dust, neither does it grow up from the ground like hemlock from the furrows of the field. The Lord Himself kindles the fiery furnace and sits as a Refiner at the door, and that which we receive from the rod of the Lord bears the blessed aspect of chastening from a father's hand.

You speak truly when you say that the way of the new age opened a door to darkness. That path is not harmless curiosity but fellowship with the power of darkness, and we rejoice that you have returned to Christ, for deliverance from spiritual bondage is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. No easy word or mere resolve can loose the captive, it must be the Lord Jesus who loosens the captive, and unless a supernatural power is put forth, any form of deliverance is worth nothing. You must be born again from above, and you have been, and therefore you shall look to your heavenly Father altogether and alone, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin.

You have discerned rightly that unforgiveness opens the soul to torment, and that the relationship you ended was outside the will of God and unequally yoked. To end it was obedience, and we do not ask the Lord to bless or restore what was contrary to His holy order for marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with purity belonging within it. We pray instead that He will keep you from returning to it, and that He will heal the wound of betrayal and the sting of being forsaken, even if it be by those you thought were friends.

Concerning those unwanted thoughts which come as divination, know that this is an arrow very often shot from Satan's bow, and he wounds many scores of times with it. He would tempt you with the fascinating power of sin, making that which is forbidden seem alluring and even accurate, to draw you back to the pit from which Christ has delivered you. Turn away from it, of what service can it be to thee. Though such thoughts may at times appear to be true, they are not bread from heaven, and you must not seek knowledge by that forbidden door. He has delivered us from the fascinating power of sin, from the power of darkness, and He would have you say so experimentally, He has delivered us. When the tempter offers some back door by which to escape your troubles, do not take his expedients, but look steadily to your Father for deliverance, and pray, O my Lord, keep me from everything that would take me away from Your love.

Forgiveness is the very heart of the gospel you now profess. What do those rivers of blood and those mounds of ashes from the altar mean, if God does not forgive sin. Jesus Christ bore our punishment, and God will never require at your hands the fulfillment of that law which Christ has honored in your stead. As you have been forgiven much through the ransom found, the King's own Son bearing the penalty of all your iniquities, so you are called to forgive those who have sinned against you, not because the wrong was light, but because you have been washed and made a new man in Christ Jesus. To hold fast to unforgiveness is to keep the wound open to the tormentor, to release it in Christ's name is to close that door.

We will pray for you.

O gracious Father, we ask that Thou wouldst be gracious unto this Thy child and say, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, for Thou hast found a ransom. Deliver from guilt and from power, from self and from all the attacks of old sins, saved from the devil, saved from evil company, saved from the fascinating power of darkness. Thou hast taught the mischief that comes from loving the world and its ways, now grant power to resist the alluring thoughts and to renounce every work of divination and the new age, and to walk in the light of Thy Word. Grant grace to forgive even as Christ has forgiven, fully and freely, and to be kept from bitterness. Keep this soul from returning to what Thou hast called unholy, guard the heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and let this trial become a chastening that yields peaceable fruit. Grant that this afflicted one may yet say, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord, and may live to tell others what great things the Lord has done in delivering from the Pit. We ask this not by any merit of our own, but by the blood of the Ransom, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Thank you for sharing this burden so honestly. We have heard your cry and we will pray for you, and we thank God that you have returned to Christ and that you stepped away from a relationship you recognized as unequally yoked and outside of God's will. That was a costly and right decision, and the Lord honors a heart that seeks to obey Him even when it hurts.

We understand that the attacks you describe feel relentless, especially with a past in the new age. Scripture is clear that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone and that any practice of divination or seeking hidden knowledge apart from Him is not from God and must be renounced. Those unwanted thoughts about what this other person is doing, even when they seem accurate, are not a gift to be cultivated but a torment to be resisted. They are not to be followed or interpreted, but to be brought into captivity to Christ. Do not give them attention as if they reveal truth, but turn from them to the Word of God, which is living and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword, discerning the thoughts and intents of the heart. It alone can judge what is true and expose what is false.

You named unforgiveness as a possible open door, and Scripture warns us about this. To hold onto anger keeps the wound open and gives the enemy ground, while to forgive brings great refreshment. Forgiveness does not mean what was done was right, or that trust is restored, or that you must return to the relationship. It means releasing the person and the debt into God's hands, asking Him to do what only He can do. God has made this way short and near to us. It does not require a long journey or great toil, only a willing heart that says, Lord, I forgive as you have forgiven me, and I ask you to heal me. If that struggle remains, bring it daily to Christ and ask Him to soften your heart, and seek the help of a trusted pastor or mature believers to walk with you in that process.

The enemy also most fiercely assails us when we are alone and isolated. For this reason we urge you not to walk through this in solitude. Keep flocking together with the people of God. Be in the church continually, in careful hearing of the Word, in prayer, in fellowship, and in accountability. When you are surrounded by brothers and sisters, you are not so easily surrounded by the enemy. Bring these attacks into the light with faithful believers who can pray with you, check on you, and help you stand firm.

These alluring thoughts that would draw you back toward the new age are a trap. Do not return to that empty well. You have already been delivered from that darkness into the kingdom of Christ, and to go back would only deepen the bondage. Instead cultivate the other parts of the Christian life with diligence, steady hearing of Scripture, continual recollection of it through the day, fortitude in prayer, and turning away from all worldly things that would entangle you again. If not at once, then by degrees, the Lord will strengthen you and the ground of your heart will become good soil that bears fruit.

We will pray now for you.

Father in heaven, we come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son, our only Savior. We ask for your mercy and power upon this dear one who belongs to you. Wash them again in the assurance of forgiveness through the cross. Break every demonic attack and every tormenting thought, and silence every whisper of divination. We do not ask you to bless what was outside your will, but we ask you to heal what was wounded by it. Grant the grace to forgive fully from the heart, to release bitterness, and to be free from its torment. Fill the mind with your truth, let your Word dwell richly within, and guard the heart with your peace. Surround this child of yours with faithful fellowship, so they are not left alone in the wilderness but are upheld by your flock. Keep their feet from turning back to the new age, and make Christ alone their hope and satisfaction. Restore strength, bring deep and lasting deliverance, and lead them in purity and holiness all their days. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who came not to condemn but to save, and who is mighty to deliver. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily in Scripture and prayer, stay close to your local church, and tell a pastor about these attacks so they can pray for you in person and help you walk in freedom. The Lord is patient and His healing often comes step by step. Do not lose heart. He who has begun a good work in you will be faithful to complete it.
