Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your burden for your son. It is right and good to bring him before the Lord, and we join you in praying for him now.
We pray that God will grant your son wisdom and grace for safe and steady weight loss, and that He will bring deep healing to the hurts of the past. The Lord cares for the whole person, body and soul, and we can trust Jesus Christ for physical healing as well as for the healing of the heart and mind.
Healing often comes gradually. There is one account in the ministry of Jesus where healing came in stages, and that reminds us that God often works step by step. Much about healing remains a mystery to us. We do not fully understand why some are healed quickly and others more slowly, but we do believe strongly that all true healing comes from God. He has built wonderful processes of restoration into our bodies, and when those processes bring health, it is still His divine work, because He is the one who created nature and its laws.
We also believe the Lord heals inward wounds. Even when physical needs are being addressed, He can do a deep work in the emotions and the mind, healing scars and painful memories that have remained for a long time. Scripture points us to Christ who bore our sicknesses and our sorrows, and Matthew shows us that the prophecy of Isaiah includes both spiritual and physical healing through Him.
As a parent you know the ache of watching your son struggle. God knows that love intimately. He is the Father who gave His only begotten Son for us, and through that Son we have access to the Father. No one knows the Father except through the Son, and when we honor the Son we honor the Father who sent Him. Because Jesus is the Son of God, we can come with confidence to the Father in His name and ask for mercy and help.
So we pray for your son that the Lord will guide him to healthy habits and safe practices, give him strength and self control, and surround him with good counsel and support. We pray that any medical help he receives will be wise and effective. And we pray even more that Jesus will touch the places of past hurt, bring comfort where there has been pain, and replace shame or grief with peace and hope. May he know how deeply he is loved by his earthly family and by his heavenly Father, and may he grow in health day by day as God works in him.
We will continue to remember you both in prayer, asking the Lord to show His kindness and restoring power in every area of need.
