Deliverance Prayer

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Lord Jesus,

I praise you, and thank you. I glorify you. Lord Jesus I ask that you silence the accuser that I hold any resentment towards my brother, I do not I am asking that he be rooted out of the home where we live because it is not healthy for him to be here at almost ###, standing on Jeremiah 12:14. I ask that you bring down all strongholds and footholds over me by my brother, standing on 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, and John 8:36. Lord Jesus restore me from all attacks that have came to me from my brother, standing on Isaiah 61:7. I cover myself and this prayer with the precious blood of Jesus, standing on Revelations 12:11. In Jesus name I pray and ask. Amen.

We join you in this deliverance prayer and we thank you for calling upon the name of Lord Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is by His name that we are saved and set free, as it is written Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved.

We hear your heart to silence the accuser and to walk free from any resentment toward your brother. The enemy is indeed the accuser of the brethren and he seeks to bring division in families and to plant bitterness where God desires love and unity. We agree with you that resentment must have no place in your heart, for we are warned Ephesians 4:27 and don’t give place to the devil and Hebrews 12:15 that no root of bitterness springing up trouble you. Even as you declare you hold no resentment, we encourage you to continue to search your heart before the Lord and to walk in forgiveness daily, for Jesus taught us Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Forgiveness does not mean that unhealthy patterns are ignored, but it does mean we release the person to God and refuse to let anger take root.

We also understand your concern about your brother continuing to live in the home at this stage of his life and your desire that he be established on his own for his own health and maturity. We pray with you not out of a desire to cast him away in anger, but that God’s perfect will be done for both of you and that your home would be a place of peace. Scripture reminds us Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. We encourage you to bring this burden also to wise godly counsel, perhaps parents or pastoral leadership if they are involved in the household, so that any transition for your brother is done with love, clear boundaries, and with his ultimate good in view, that he would grow in responsibility and purpose before the Lord.

You have rightly discerned that our battle is spiritual. As you quoted 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. And Ephesians 6:12 reminds us For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Your brother is not the enemy, but there may be spiritual footholds and patterns of influence that need to be torn down in Jesus’ name. We stand with you that every stronghold and foothold over your mind, heart, and home that has come through this strained relationship would be demolished by the power of Christ.

We cling with you to the promise John 8:36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. And Revelation 12:11 They overcame him because of the Lamb’s blood, and because of the word of their testimony. There is power in the precious blood of Jesus to cover, cleanse, and protect, for 1 John 1:7 the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. We also hold to God’s heart to restore what the enemy has tried to steal, for Isaiah 61:7 Instead of your shame you shall have double, and instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their portion, therefore in their land they shall possess double, everlasting joy shall be to them.

Concerning Jeremiah 12:14, we hear your cry that God would pluck up what is unhealthy and not of His planting. While that passage speaks of God’s judgment on evil neighbors of Israel, His heart is always both just and redemptive, and He desires to root out what harms His people while also calling all to repentance and growth. We pray that God would remove what is not healthy in your home, but also that He would work deeply in your brother’s life to draw him toward maturity, independence, and wholeness in Christ.

So we pray together now.

Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before You on behalf of our dear brother and sister in Christ. We thank You for Your mercy and Your deliverance. We ask that You silence the voice of the accuser over this life. Let every lie that says resentment remains be silenced by the truth of Your Word and by the blood of the Lamb. Search the heart and wash it clean, and fill it with Your love and forgiveness toward their brother. We ask that You bring down every stronghold, every imagination, and every high thing that has exalted itself against the knowledge of God in this home and in these thoughts, and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. We resist the devil and command him to flee as we submit ourselves to You, according James 4:7 Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Lord Jesus, we ask that You make Your freedom fully manifest, for whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Restore double for all that has been attacked, wounded, or stolen through this difficult relationship, and let everlasting joy be established. Cover this one and this prayer with Your precious blood, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. We pray also for the brother, that You would work in his heart, lead him into maturity and responsibility, and guide his steps to a healthy place that honors You, whether that be remaining or being established elsewhere according to Your perfect will. Give wisdom to all in the household to set godly boundaries in love and to pursue peace as much as it depends on them. Let Your will be done in that home as it is in heaven, and let Your peace guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We hear how heavy this has been, sharing a home with your brother at this stage of life and longing for peace and freedom in your own heart. We appreciate your honesty that you do not hold resentment toward him, and that you want any accusation otherwise to be silenced. That desire for a clear conscience before the Lord matters.

Living together when the situation feels unhealthy can wear down anyone, and it makes sense you are asking Jesus for restoration, protection, and for strongholds to be broken. We join you in asking Him to bring what is needed for both of you to be healthy, and to give you wisdom for what a good and sustainable living arrangement looks like going forward.

One practical step that may help is to invite a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you and your family to walk with you in this. It can be difficult to sort out boundaries and next steps for housing alone, and having someone calm and wise beside you can help you think through options that honor everyone, pursue peace, and keep the home safe.

We are praying for you now.

Father, thank You for this child of Yours who loves and praises You. We ask You to guard his heart and mind in Christ, cover him with Your protection, heal what has been wounded, and replace heaviness with Your peace. Give him clear wisdom for his home and for his relationship with his brother, and lead both of them toward what is healthy and pleasing to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has come before us and we have heard the burden that lies upon your heart within your own home. You speak of strongholds and of footholds, of attacks and of a desire for deliverance, and you do well to seek the Lord in this trouble, for He is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and they that know His name shall put their trust in Him.

You feel as one who carries a bombshell within the heart, and you fear that the sons of Anak will never be driven out. Let us remember what a stronghold truly is. It is not a temporary camp, but a mountain fastness where the people might be sheltered from marauders. The strongholds against which we wrestle are not flesh and blood, not a brother of our own household, but the reasonings and high things that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God, and the sin that would keep us from Christ. The apostle saith we do not war after the flesh, and the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. To stand upon 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 is to ask the Lord to cast down pride and unbelief and anger in our own hearts first, and then to deal graciously with all that opposes His truth.

So also that word in Jeremiah was spoken concerning nations whom God would pluck up for their evil, not a warrant for us to pluck up a kinsman from his dwelling by a form of prayer. And the precious blood spoken of in Revelation is not a covering for words we utter, but the ransom which God Himself has found and provided for sinners. Nobody would have thought of that way of deliverance of a sinner from the pit of hell through a ransom if God had not thought of it, but He has found a ransom, and that ransom is Christ Jesus the Lord. If we are delivered, it must be of free grace only, for we can do nothing and we know it. He brought them forth, and He makes their deliverance effectual.

You say you hold no resentment toward your brother, and we take you at your word, yet let us search our hearts before the Lord, for the accuser is swift to whisper and the heart is deceitful. The true deliverance we need is deliverance from sin itself, from bitterness if it lurks, from impatience, from every unholy temper, that we may be kept in perfect peace. I stayed at the brook Jabbok, said one of old, and I said Lord give deliverance from him whom I think bloodthirsty. I crossed the brook full of fear and trembling, but I met my brother Esau, and he fell upon my neck and kissed me. So the Lord can turn the heart of a brother and give peace within our borders, which is a mercy for which we cannot be too thankful. Deborah sang concerning the overthrow of Israel's enemies, but we have a richer theme, for we have been delivered from worse enemies and saved by a greater salvation.

Therefore let us pray not that a man be rooted out in anger, but that the Lord will work His good will in that home for the health and holiness of you both. If it be wise and right before God that ye should dwell apart, pray that He will open that door in His providence with love and without strife, and with provision for your brother's good. If ye must dwell together for a season, pray that He will make you a shelter and not a snare to one another.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, who art our stronghold and our deliverer, we come through Jesus Christ alone, our only ransom and our only hope. Thou hast chastened us sorely, yet Thou hast not given us over unto death. Forgive us where we have wrestled against flesh and blood, and pull down every stronghold of sin and self within us. Silence the voice of the accuser by the blood of the Lamb, and give us to know that whom the Son makes free is free indeed. Restore unto us what the enemy hath sought to steal, and grant in Thy grace the double portion of comfort for shame, as Thou hast promised. Teach this dear soul to live and to declare the works of the Lord, and to speak of Thy deliverance after affliction. Grant wisdom to order the household aright, love that seeketh not her own, patience that beareth all things, and peace that passeth understanding. Work in both brother and sister that which is well pleasing in Thy sight, and if it be Thy will, provide in Thy providence a wholesome and peaceable way forward for each. Bring forth health and strength where there has been inward sinking and conflict, and let all the honor of our deliverance be unto Free Grace only. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we ask it. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard and the pain you feel in your home is understood. You desire to be free from any accusation of resentment and to have peace where you live, and you have rightly turned to the Lord Jesus and to His blood for deliverance.

Scripture teaches that our deepest conflict is not against flesh and blood, even when the struggle feels very personal and close in a household. The strongholds spoken of in 2 Corinthians 10 are spiritual, and the freedom promised in John 8 is first freedom from sin itself. For this reason we are taught to cut out the root and there will be no fruit. Every conflict has its beginning in covetousness or envy or vainglory, and all such things spring from love of the things of this life. If we are at peace within, we learn to despise earthly quarrels and to value the treasure above which no one can steal.

This is why we are also taught not to rush into conflicts but to deprecate them, and when we are tried to stand nobly and wait upon the Lord. Our victory is more glorious and the enemy is more fully overcome when we show freedom from vainglory and nobleness of spirit rather than seeking to push another person away. He who commits injustice harms himself more than his neighbor, and he who plots against his neighbor first destroys himself. God does not always grant immediate removal from a trial. At times He permits the trial to remain a little longer so that we may gain more, as He did with Abraham in his last and greatest trial, and so that we learn not only to be delivered from death or trouble but to despise the power of trouble itself through trust in Him.

It is good that you do not want resentment to live in your heart. Ask the Lord then not only for outward relief but for what is most needed, a contrite and humbled heart, sober, self possessed and watchful, full of repentance and compunction. These are His gifts. Our wrestling is against spiritual wickedness, against principalities and powers, and we need sobriety and prayer to stand.

The verses you mentioned are precious, but they are not formulas to cause a family member to be rooted out of a home. Jeremiah 12 speaks of God judging nations that harmed His people, not of praying a brother out of a house. To pray that your brother be rooted out may increase conflict rather than heal it. Instead, bring your brother before the Lord for good. Pray for his health, his repentance where needed, his growth, and for wisdom for both of you to live in a way that honors God. If there are unhealthy patterns, seek wise and godly counsel about boundaries, responsibilities, and peace in the home, with love and honor for one another.

True deliverance is more than mere removal of a person or a problem. Christ did not limit His redemption to bare deliverance, but He also cleansed, sanctified, and justified those who trust in Him. Isaiah 61 promises restoration and a double portion to those who have suffered, but that restoration comes as we trust Christ and walk in His ways. Revelation 12 reminds us that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony, which is a life that confesses Jesus and follows Him.

Let us pray together in this way. Lord Jesus, we praise You and thank You. Forgive us where resentment, envy, or pride has taken root and cut out that root by Your Spirit. Silence the accuser by Your blood and give a humble and contrite heart. Bring down every spiritual stronghold that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. Make us free indeed by Your truth. Restore what has been broken and teach us to love as You have loved us. Grant wisdom for this home, that all decisions may be made in love, truth, and peace, and that both brothers may grow in maturity and godliness. Cover us with Your mercy and lead us in Your will. In the name of Jesus we ask. Amen.
