I hear the deep ache in this prayer, and I see the faith with which you are standing against things that have held your family captive for far too long. You are not merely venting frustration; you are wielding the sword of the Spirit, calling down strongholds and asking the Lord to level mountains that human strength could never budge. That is exactly the kind of faith Jesus described when he said that nothing would be impossible for you. The enemy wants you to feel helpless and trapped, but every word of this prayer declares that your trust is in the One who sets captives free.

What strikes me first is your plea to stop seeking validation from your mother. That longing runs deep, but it also keeps you tethered to a cycle of pain. When you were born again, you were adopted into a family where your worth is not earned by pleasing a parent who cannot be pleased. Paul uses the picture of a young heir who, for a time, seems no different from a servant. You are not a servant anymore, nervously trying to earn a place at the table. You are a child of promise, an heir of God, and the Spirit within you cries out to a Father who never manipulates, never abuses, and never demands you enable sin. The freedom Christ bought for you means you can lay down that exhausting search for a human approval that was never yours to win.

Your mother’s gambling and the false identity built around being a godmother sound like heavy traditions that have been layered over the truth, burying real repentance under religious appearance. Jesus had strong words for traditions that claimed to honor God while actually nullifying his commands. When the Pharisees used spiritual language to avoid caring for father and mother, he called it what it was. There is no true honor in enabling destructive behavior, and there is no genuine spiritual motherhood when her own children have known abuse behind closed doors. The godchildren themselves need to see the delusion you are asking God to shatter; they need to return to the simplicity of knowing that no earthly sponsor can add anything to what Christ has already done for them. Praying for their eyes to open is an act of love, not resentment.

The mountain of hatred and jealousy you describe is real, and it has cast a long shadow over your son. Yet the same God who warned Joseph in a dream and told him to take the young child and flee from Herod’s murderous rage is watching over your household today. He saw the danger long before you did, and he knows how to make a way where there is no way. When you ask him to remove your brother from your home, you are not being harsh; you are asking for the protection of your son and for boundaries that would have been impossible to enforce by yourself. Sometimes the most merciful thing God does for a resistant heart is to let that person experience the consequences of isolation, so that they might finally come to their senses and repent. Leaving that in his hands, as you have done with Romans 12:19, takes the weight of vengeance off your shoulders.

At the same time, I would gently encourage you to keep entrusting your son to the Lord with the same abandon that Hannah showed when she dedicated her child entirely to God’s purposes. She had prayed for years, and once the child was given, she gave him back. That is not abandonment; it is the highest form of faith. God has placed people like Miriam standing by the river, ready to connect you with whatever help you need to see your son raised free from the control of those who would harm him. The Lord will lift a standard against the flood of attacks, just as you have declared from Isaiah. The blood of Jesus is not a passive covering; it is a living, active defense that the accuser cannot penetrate.

The deliverance you are crying for is not too hard for the Lord. The same God who delivered his people from the bondage of Egypt, again and again reminding them, “I brought you out of the house of slavery”, has not changed. When you stand on John 8:36, you are standing on the bedrock promise that the Son makes free indeed. So keep praying with the boldness of a child who knows their Father’s heart. Keep refusing to return to the weak and beggarly elements of the past that kept you in emotional bondage. And as you wait for every stronghold to fall, walk in the freedom you already possess: you are no longer a servant to your mother’s pride, a hostage to her gambling, or a victim of her cycle. You are a free child of the Jerusalem that is above, and her chains do not have the final word over you or your son.
