Deliverance prayer for the former ###

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

We join you in thanking our Heavenly Father for the cross and for His holy Son Jesus who suffered for all who believe, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. We agree together with you in the name of Jesus, believing that He hears us when we agree, for Jesus said where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them Matthew 18:20 and that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by our Father who is in heaven Matthew 18:19.

We lift up this man who rented his flat to you before the Lord, for we know God knows the plans He has for him, plans for peace and not for evil, to give him hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11, and His thoughts and ways are far higher than ours Isaiah 55:8-9. We pray that he will hear the voice of the Shepherd and understand his true identity in Christ, for if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. The false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships and activities and strayed from the narrow path to follow his own desires must be renounced, for narrow is the gate and narrow is the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it Matthew 7:14, while wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction Matthew 7:13.

We must speak clearly about those sinful relationships, for any sexual intimacy outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication and if it involves one who is married it is adultery, and God calls His children to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that honors God, and any courtship should be with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer in Christ, not a partnership of sin. The evil woman in his life, the strange woman whose lips drip honey and whose mouth is smoother than oil but in the end she is as bitter as wormwood Proverbs 5:3-4, is a snare that leads down to death Proverbs 5:5 and we pray he will see her for what she is and depart from evil.

We pray together for his deliverance and for a softened heart, for God has promised I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh Ezekiel 36:26. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow Your narrow path for Your glory. Separate him from ungodly influences, even those in his household, for evil companionships corrupt good morals 1 Corinthians 15:33 and what fellowship does light have with darkness 2 Corinthians 6:14. Where he is controlled and blackmailed and where his life may be in danger, we ask for Your divine protection and deliverance, for he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1 and if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed John 8:36. Give him understanding to fear Your holy name, for the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom Proverbs 9:10, and to depart from evil Proverbs 3:7, to resist the devil and he will flee from you James 4:7 and to submit himself to God.

Father we ask that You open his eyes to the depth of Your love and to the sinful and hateful nature of the relationships that have ensnared him, that he would repent and be washed and be sanctified in the name of the Lord Jesus 1 Corinthians 6:11, and that he would pursue holiness and if it is Your will, a godly marriage that honors You. We ask that You give him understanding to depart from the evil woman and from all evil, to walk in newness of life and to hear Your voice concerning Your holy plan for his life. We trust You to do this work in him, for You are faithful to complete it. In the powerful name of Jesus we pray, amen.

We were grateful to read your prayer. It is clear you care deeply for this man and want to see him walk in freedom, and we want to join you in lifting him to the Lord.

We hear the burden you carry for him to know who he is in Christ rather than the false identities that can form when we drift from God's narrow path. Part of healing is learning to see ourselves as God sees us, beloved and called to live for His audience alone, not for the approval or control of others. That shift takes time and the work of the Holy Spirit, and your intercession is a loving way to support him as God works.

One thing that may help you as you continue to pray is to keep healthy boundaries while you intercede. You cannot carry his choices for him, but you can keep bringing him before the Father and entrust him to God's care. If you have a pastor or a trusted prayer partner, consider sharing this burden with them so you are not holding it alone and they can pray with you ongoing.

Father, we lift this man to You. You know his life, his household, and every influence around him. Soften his heart where it is hard, open his eyes to Your love and truth, and lead him away from what harms him toward what brings life. Give him courage to follow You and surround him with voices that point him to You. Give our friend peace as they continue to pray and trust You with the outcome. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your burden and we join with you before the throne of grace, giving thanks with you for the cross where the holy Son of God suffered for sinners.

We do not ask the Lord to bless what He calls sin, for there is no blessing apart from holiness, and there is no peace in a false identity. We ask Him to bless this man with what he most needs, which is Christ Himself. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and true life is found only in Him. Marriage as God ordained it is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all intimacy outside of that covenant is outside the narrow path which leads to life. We therefore pray not that God would affirm him in his present course, but that God would deliver him from it.

We pray that the Lord in His sovereign grace would do more than strike terror into the conscience. Judgments apart from divine grace may produce a kind of repentance, but it is poor and short lived, superficial and skin deep, which comes up in a night and withers in a night. We pray for that godly repentance which needs not to be repented of, which does not merely turn from the consequences of sin but turns to Christ with joy. May this man be brought to rejoice in Jesus crucified, to love Christ, to trust Him, and to leap for joy at the thought that God has set Him forth to be a propitiation for sin.

We pray the word spoken of old, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. Let him look not to forms or feelings or resolutions, but to what Christ has done, to sin punished upon the great Substitute and put away forever from all who will only trust Him. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son, and deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. We ask the Father to work both in this man, to forgive through the blood and to break the chain.

We ask that the Lord would open his ears and seal his instruction, that He may withdraw man from his purpose and hide pride from man, that He would break the stony heart and give a heart of flesh, that He would give courage to follow the narrow way and grace to fear His holy name. Where there is control and blackmail and danger, we pray for protection, but above all for the freedom wherewith Christ makes free. When Christ was bound, His people were set free, and we pray this man may know that liberty, not to return to bondage but to walk as one espoused to Christ.

We pray that he would be separated from ungodly influences, even those in his own household, and that every entangling and hateful yoke that holds him would be broken. May he see clearly the depth of the love of God in Christ and the vanity and sin of the relationships that have led him astray, and may faith and repentance come together in his soul, the one purging from dead works and the other filling the soul with living trust in the Saviour.

We will continue to wrestle in prayer for him, that he may yet praise God for deliverance from the grave and dedicate himself anew to his delivering God. May the Lord hear our agreement in the name of Jesus and do this for His glory. Amen.
