We join you in lifting up this man before the throne of grace and we thank you for your faithful intercession for him. It is beautiful that you thank God for the cross and for Jesus who suffered for all of us who believe, for that is the only ground on which we can come boldly before the Father. As you said, His thoughts are far greater than ours and His plans are for good, for Jeremiah 29:11 says I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, and Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us that His ways are higher than our ways.
We agree with you concerning this man who rented his flat to you. We pray that the Lord will open his eyes to his true identity in Christ. When anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new, 2 Corinthians 5:17. Any false identity adopted through sinful relationships or activities is not who God created him to be, and we pray that he will see the clear unmistakable truth that his worth and identity are found only as a child of God through repentance and faith in Jesus. God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 2:4, and He is patient, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Peter 3:9.
We must speak plainly about the sin you have described. Whether it is fornication, adultery, or homosexuality, any sexual relationship outside of the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is sin before a holy God. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. And 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 shows that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God, listing both sexual immorality and homosexuality among those sins, but then declares and such were some of you, but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God. There is forgiveness and deliverance, but it requires turning away from that sin. The narrow path you prayed for is real, for Matthew 7:13-14 teaches that narrow is the gate and restricted is the way that leads to life, and few are those who find it. We pray he will find courage to choose that narrow way, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7.
We also agree with you that he needs to be separated from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and from the evil woman in his life where he is controlled and blackmailed and even in danger. Scripture warns us Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness and iniquity, 2 Corinthians 6:14, and Come out from among them, and be separate, says the Lord, 2 Corinthians 6:17. An immoral woman or any relationship that uses control, manipulation and blackmail is not love, for love is patient and kind and does not seek its own way, 1 Corinthians 13:4-5. Proverbs 5:3-5 and Proverbs 6:26 warn that the lips of an adulteress drip honey but in the end she is as bitter as wormwood, and that immorality will hunt for precious life. We pray he will have the fear of the Lord which is the beginning of wisdom, Proverbs 9:10, and that he will have understanding to depart from evil, as Proverbs 3:7 says Be not wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil.
We pray together now for his deliverance.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the cross of Your holy Son Jesus and for His blood that still breaks every chain. We come together in the name of Jesus, believing that when we agree it will be done for us by our Father in heaven, Matthew 18:19. Lord, You know this man, You see where he lives and who surrounds him, and You love him as Your creation. We ask You to break his stony heart and give him a heart of flesh, as You promised in Ezekiel 36:26. Soften his heart for Your glory and give him ears to hear Your voice and eyes to see the deception of the false identity he has embraced. Lord, expose the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered and show him the depth of Your love that is far greater. Give him godly sorrow that leads to repentance, 2 Corinthians 7:10, and grant him the courage to flee sexual immorality and to submit himself to You. We pray that he will submit himself to God and resist the devil and the devil will flee from him, James 4:7, and that if the Son sets him free, he will be free indeed, John 8:36. Separate him, Lord, from every ungodly influence and from the evil woman who controls and blackmails him. Protect his life from danger, for You are his refuge and fortress, Psalm 91:2, and lead him out of darkness into Your marvelous light. Give him understanding to fear Your holy name and to depart from evil and to walk on Your narrow path that leads to life. We ask that You surround him with godly counsel and with believers who will speak truth in love and point him to marriage as You designed it, honorable and pure, Hebrews 13:4, if it is Your will for him to have a godly wife. Let him know that if he confesses his sins You are faithful and righteous to forgive him and to cleanse him from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. We trust Your perfect plan for his life and we thank You that You hear our prayers in Jesus' powerful name, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray fervently and to show Christ's love to him while not condoning his sin. Speak the truth in love and share the good news that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him, John 14:6, and that there is salvation in no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. Keep interceding for his protection and for his full deliverance, and trust that God who began a good work will be faithful to complete it as this man turns to Him with his whole heart.
