Deliverance prayer for the former ###

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

We join with you in this deliverance prayer and we thank you for standing in the gap for this man with such love and discernment. We agree together in the name of Jesus, believing that the Lord hears us when we agree, for Jesus said in Matthew 18:19-20 that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by our Father who is in heaven.

We are encouraged by your understanding of his need for a true identity in Christ. The enemy seeks to give a false identity through sin, but the Word tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. When a person strays from the narrow path to follow his own desires, he comes under bondage, yet Jesus came to set the captives free, for John 8:36 says if therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. We also hear your concern that he is entangled in sinful relationships where he is controlled and even in danger, and where an ungodly influence, an evil woman, has a hold on him. Scripture is clear that we are to flee sexual immorality, for 1 Corinthians 6:18 says flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Whether it be fornication, adultery, or homosexuality, all sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman is sin before God and brings confusion and bondage, and God calls us to repentance and purity. He also calls us to be separate from ungodly influences, for 1 Corinthians 15:33 says evil companionships corrupt good morals, and 2 Corinthians 6:14 asks what fellowship has light with darkness.

We also take to heart your prayer for his stony heart to be broken and for him to fear the Holy name of the Lord. God promises in Ezekiel 36:26 that I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And Proverbs 9:10 reminds us that the fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. When we fear God and depart from evil, the enemy must flee, for James 4:7 says be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The Lord knows the plans He has for this man, as Jeremiah 29:11 says for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, and His thoughts are far greater than ours, even as you prayed.

So we pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the cross and for Your holy Son Jesus who suffered for all who believe. We praise Your holy name. Lord, we lift up this man to You, Your child whom You know by name. We ask that You open his eyes to see the clear and unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ and to see the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships and activities and strayed from Your narrow path. Father, we ask that You break his stony heart and give him a heart of flesh, and give him courage to follow the narrow gate that leads to life, for Matthew 7:13-14 teaches that narrow is the gate and restricted is the way that leads to life. Soften his heart for Your glory and give him understanding to depart from evil and from the evil woman and every ungodly influence in his household and around him. Separate him, Lord, from those who control and blackmail him and where his life may be in danger. Deliver him, for You are our deliverer and Psalm 34:17 says the righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Let him recognize the depth of Your love and the hatefulness and destructiveness of the sinful relationships that have held him captive. Give him understanding to fear Your holy name and to walk in repentance and holiness. We claim his deliverance and freedom in Christ, for whom the Son sets free is free indeed. We ask that You fill him with Your Holy Spirit, with power and love and self control as 2 Timothy 1:7 promises, and lead him into fellowship with godly believers who will strengthen him. We thank You that if we confess our sins You are faithful to forgive us, as 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Do a complete work of cleansing and restoration in him. In the powerful and only saving name of Jesus Christ we ask these things, amen.

We encourage you to continue to stand in prayer and intercession for him, speaking the truth in love and keeping him covered in prayer for protection. Continue to show him the love of Christ while not compromising on the truth that sin must be repented of and forsaken. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask, and He desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. We trust the Lord will hear and answer as you remain faithful in prayer.

We are thankful for the compassionate way you are lifting this man to the Lord. It is heavy to care about someone and see him caught in patterns that seem to control him and pull him away from the life God intended, especially when you are concerned for his safety.

What you named about identity is so central. Real and lasting freedom comes when a person himself turns to Christ and begins to see who he is in Him, not in the relationships or pressures around him. That kind of turning cannot be done for him by someone else, even by someone praying faithfully. Our part is to keep loving him, praying for his eyes to be opened, and being ready to speak truth kindly if God opens a door, while entrusting the deeper work to the Lord.

A steady next step is to keep praying as you are, and also keep healthy boundaries in your role as his former tenant. You do not need to carry responsibility for rescuing him or confronting others in his household. If he ever shares that he wants help, you could gently encourage him to talk with a trusted pastor or counselor he chooses. In the meantime, caring for your own peace and boundaries is also important.

Father, we bring this man before You and ask You to draw near to him. Give him clarity to see Your love, courage to step away from what harms him, and wisdom for each next decision. Keep him safe, soften his heart toward You, and surround him with people who will point him to You in truth. Guide our friend too as he continues to pray, with wisdom and peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been laid before the Lord and we join you in it with thankfulness that you have not asked God to bless sin, but to deliver a soul from it. This is a prayer He delights to hear, for His very reason for delivering is an argument of love, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom.

We entreat the Lord for this man who once rented his flat to you. We ask that God would open his ears and seal his instruction, that He may withdraw him from his purpose and hide pride from him. Often sin catches a soul at first with cobwebs that seem easily broken, but by continuance it engenders a second nature and binds with cords that no man can break. Yet what man cannot do, God can. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin, and we must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone for both.

We pray that he may be brought to see that his true identity is not in the false name he has taken up while straying from the narrow path and following his own desires, but in Christ alone. For He who knew no sin was made to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. There alone is a new name and a new heart to be found. Oh that he might look not to forms or feelings or works, but to what Christ has done, to His one great sacrifice upon the Cross where sin spent itself upon Jesus so that it need not touch the soul that believes in Him. To look to Christ is to trust in that blood which made atonement, and when a soul sensible of sin throws itself upon that sacrifice, sin is pardoned and its power is broken.

We join you in asking that the Lord would break the stony heart and give a heart of flesh, that He would give courage to follow the narrow way and grace to hate sin as sin and to turn from it with purpose of heart. True repentance does not merely fear the result of sin but loathes sin itself because it is sin against a holy God, and it rejoices in Jesus crucified as its only hope. We pray that God would in mercy separate him from ungodly influences, even those in his own household, and from every hateful and controlling entanglement where he is held and where his life may be in danger. We pray that he may be delivered from the power of darkness and translated into the kingdom of His dear Son, and that he may come to fear the holy name of the Lord and to depart from evil, forsaking every relationship that is outside the holy covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, for that alone is the Lord's design for our good and His glory.

Be encouraged to continue in prayer and in quiet trust. Your enemy may have meant malice by what you have suffered, but our gracious God can use even chastening in love to the soul. Keep looking to Christ yourself, resting on His precious blood, and make a fresh dedication of yourself to your delivering God. He hears when two agree together in Jesus name, and He is able to do exceedingly above what we ask.

We pray that the Lord would visit this man, show him the deadly poison in the sweetness he has pursued, and bring him to joyful liberty as he beholds sin punished upon the great Substitute and put away forever from all who will only trust Him. May he yet sing, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. In the name and merits of Jesus Christ our only ransom, Amen.
