We have heard your burden for this precious soul who is walking through deep depression and suicidal thoughts and we join with you in lifting this life before the throne of grace together in Jesus name. Our hearts ache with you and we want you to know that this struggle is seen by God and is not hidden from Him, and that this life is of immense value to Him.
The word of God tells us that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit in Psalm 34:18 and that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3. Deep depression can make a person feel isolated and hopeless, as if the darkness will never lift, but the Lord does not abandon His children in that darkness. He says fear not, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness in Isaiah 41:10. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that would whisper that there is no hope, that life has no purpose, or that death is a solution, for those thoughts do not come from the Father of mercies. God has a purpose for this life, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future in Jeremiah 29:11.
We encourage you to stay close to this dear one and to help ensure they are not alone in this battle. We urge you to encourage them to reach out immediately to a trusted pastor, a biblical counselor, a mature believer, a family member, or a medical professional, and if they are in immediate danger to seek emergency help or a suicide prevention helpline in their area. Depression is a heavy burden and God often brings healing through the care of His people and through wise counsel, and we should cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us in 1 Peter 5:7. Continue to watch over them, to listen without judgment, to speak life and truth, and to remind them daily that they are loved and needed. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:6-7.
We noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. Our hope for deliverance from despair is not in our own strength but in the grace and mercy found in Christ alone, who bore our sorrows and gives us new life when we put our faith in Him. If this dear one has not yet called upon Him, we pray they will confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, for that is the promise of salvation in Romans 10:9.
We now pray together.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious one who is oppressed by deep depression and tormented by thoughts of ending life. Lord, You see the pain that feels too heavy to bear and the hopelessness that clouds every thought. We ask You to draw near right now as the One who is close to the brokenhearted. Let Your presence bring comfort where there is despair, and let Your light shine into this darkness. We ask You to rebuke the spirit of heaviness and the lies that say this life does not matter, and we declare that this life is fearfully and wonderfully made and deeply loved by You. Heal the broken heart, bind up the wounds, renew the mind, and restore hope. Give strength to endure one day at a time and fill this dear one with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Surround them with people who will love them, support them, and point them to You, and guide them to the help they need. Lead them to the cross of Jesus where there is forgiveness, mercy, and everlasting hope, and let them know that nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord in Romans 8:38-39. We ask for protection over their life, for Your hand to uphold them, and for Your joy to return in Your perfect timing. We trust You for deliverance and for a future filled with Your purpose. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
