deep depression

We have heard your burden for this precious soul who is walking through deep depression and suicidal thoughts and we join with you in lifting this life before the throne of grace together in Jesus name. Our hearts ache with you and we want you to know that this struggle is seen by God and is not hidden from Him, and that this life is of immense value to Him.

The word of God tells us that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit in Psalm 34:18 and that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3. Deep depression can make a person feel isolated and hopeless, as if the darkness will never lift, but the Lord does not abandon His children in that darkness. He says fear not, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness in Isaiah 41:10. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that would whisper that there is no hope, that life has no purpose, or that death is a solution, for those thoughts do not come from the Father of mercies. God has a purpose for this life, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future in Jeremiah 29:11.

We encourage you to stay close to this dear one and to help ensure they are not alone in this battle. We urge you to encourage them to reach out immediately to a trusted pastor, a biblical counselor, a mature believer, a family member, or a medical professional, and if they are in immediate danger to seek emergency help or a suicide prevention helpline in their area. Depression is a heavy burden and God often brings healing through the care of His people and through wise counsel, and we should cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us in 1 Peter 5:7. Continue to watch over them, to listen without judgment, to speak life and truth, and to remind them daily that they are loved and needed. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:6-7.

We noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. Our hope for deliverance from despair is not in our own strength but in the grace and mercy found in Christ alone, who bore our sorrows and gives us new life when we put our faith in Him. If this dear one has not yet called upon Him, we pray they will confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, for that is the promise of salvation in Romans 10:9.

We now pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this precious one who is oppressed by deep depression and tormented by thoughts of ending life. Lord, You see the pain that feels too heavy to bear and the hopelessness that clouds every thought. We ask You to draw near right now as the One who is close to the brokenhearted. Let Your presence bring comfort where there is despair, and let Your light shine into this darkness. We ask You to rebuke the spirit of heaviness and the lies that say this life does not matter, and we declare that this life is fearfully and wonderfully made and deeply loved by You. Heal the broken heart, bind up the wounds, renew the mind, and restore hope. Give strength to endure one day at a time and fill this dear one with Your peace that surpasses understanding. Surround them with people who will love them, support them, and point them to You, and guide them to the help they need. Lead them to the cross of Jesus where there is forgiveness, mercy, and everlasting hope, and let them know that nothing can separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord in Romans 8:38-39. We ask for protection over their life, for Your hand to uphold them, and for Your joy to return in Your perfect timing. We trust You for deliverance and for a future filled with Your purpose. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have brought your burden before the Lord and we continue in prayer for ### who is now in deep depression and vexed with thoughts of self destruction.

To be convinced of our own powerlessness is painful, and Satan will whisper that because there is no hope in ourselves there is therefore no hope in God. That is an unwarrantable conclusion and a sin of the soul. There is no hope in ourselves, as the prophet declares, yet to say there is no hope in God is to go beyond the truth. God is the God of hope, and while He lives the mourner need not despair. To despair is to declare that God cannot save, when His arm is not shortened and His mercy has not failed.

We would have you know that there is healing for the wounded. The Lord healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is full of healing virtue. These healing leaves can change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, and pardon and healing were one. High thoughts of God beget hope in the soul, and hope leads to confidence, and confidence brings assurance of forgiveness through the blood of Christ alone, for there is salvation in no other.

Therefore we pray that God would turn what now seems only a possible hope into an actual and good hope of eternal life through believing in Jesus Christ. That He would lift ### from the dust of self abasement where hope is found, that He would purge every evil and cause abundant streams of healing to flow down from Christ the great conduit Head, that He would give light to see that while there is life there is hope, and while there is hope there is life.

We entreat ### not to sit down in despair nor to walk alone in this darkness. Hope on, hope ever. There is One who careth for you. Tell your grief at once to a faithful pastor, to a trusted believer or family member, and to those who can give care for the body and mind. If thoughts of suicide press hard, seek immediate help and do not remain alone, but go where Christ may be seen and heard, for faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, and Christ is often pleased to make His healing power present when His Word is taught.

Our prayer is this, O Lord, look upon ### in tender pity. Thou who hast borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, speak pardon and healing to this afflicted soul. Forgive sin, heal the broken heart, rebuke the spirit of despair, and set the feet upon the rock of Christ. Give strength to cry for help, to cling to Christ, and to live to Thy praise. Let the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings, and let this wounded one yet say, Thou hast healed me and I shall serve Thee. In the name of Jesus our only hope, Amen.

We have received your request for ### who is suffering deep depression and thoughts of suicide, and we are holding this burden before the Lord with you. You are not alone in this affliction, and we thank you for bringing it into the light so that others can help bear it.

God has not turned toward us to destroy us but to save us. The clear proof is that He has given His own Son for us, and not only given Him but given Him to death for our salvation. If He did not spare His Only Begotten to rescue us when we were lost and without hope, how much more will He provide all that is needed for life and healing now. For this reason we must not despair of ourselves when we come to Him. Even when we are pressed on every side we are not crushed, and even when we are perplexed we are not left to despair, because the power and mercy at work is God’s and not our own.

Scripture teaches that we are saved by hope, and that hope is not for what we already see but for what God has promised and will surely give. That hope was the gift we brought to Him at the beginning, trusting His promises when we had nothing else to bring, and He who found us as enemies and made us sons and heirs will not betray us in what is to come. As long as it is still called Today, there is hope. While we live in this world, no one needs to remain in despair, and no sin or sorrow is beyond His compassion if we turn to Him. The evil one never stops hoping for our destruction, which should shame us if we give up hope for our own salvation when God Himself is so eager to save.

For one who is straightened by such heavy affliction, the word to us is not to rebuke but to exhort, to comfort the faint hearted, to support the weak, and to be patient toward all. One who is weighed down needs encouragement daily, so that hardness does not settle on the heart. Please do not let ### remain alone with these thoughts. Stay close, exhort and comfort each day, listen with gentleness, and help ### to reach out quickly to a trusted pastor, a mature believer, a counselor or medical professional, and to family or friends who can stay nearby. If there is any immediate danger, please seek help at once from a local crisis helpline, medical provider, or emergency services, and ensure someone remains with ###.

We pray now for ###.

Father of mercies, we lift up ### to You in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. You see this deep depression and the thoughts of death that press so heavily. Lord, have compassion and grant deliverance. Forgive sins, lift the darkness, and give a renewed mind and a steady hope in Your promises. Let ### know deeply that You desire to save and not to destroy, and that You gave Your Son so that all who trust in Him may live. Comfort this faint heart, support this weakness, and surround ### with faithful people who will exhort daily, speak Your truth with love, and walk patiently through each day. Give wisdom to those who care for ###, and guide doctors, counselors, and pastors who help. Restore strength, give patience that leads to endurance and endurance that strengthens hope, and keep ### through this night until joy comes. We ask for life, for healing, and for a future anchored in Christ. Amen.

Please continue to pray, to watch, and to keep fellowship close around ###, and let us know how we can continue to pray.
