Daughter’s marriage in crisis

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for my ### and ###. They need divine intervention to get through this. They have ### young children. Pray for repentance and forgiveness. Thank you.

We join you in bringing your daughter and her husband before the Lord in this time of crisis, and we stand with you asking for divine intervention for their marriage and for their young children who are so vulnerable in this season.

We believe marriage is a sacred covenant ordained by God as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and He desires to heal and restore what is broken. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart Matthew 19:6. For God says I hate divorce Malachi 2:16, not because He is harsh, but because He knows the pain it brings and He loves marriage as a picture of His covenant love for us. We are encouraged that you are praying for repentance and forgiveness, for that is the heart of the gospel and the only path to true restoration.

If there has been sin between them, whether harsh words, neglect, or even adultery or fornication which is any sexual intimacy outside the marriage covenant, God calls us to confess it honestly and forsake it. Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled Hebrews 13:4. Yet we also hear the call to forgive as God has forgiven us. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. Love is patient and is kind, love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things 1 Corinthians 13:4,7. This kind of love is only possible as Christ works in us.

We also want to gently point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by repenting of our sin and believing that Jesus died for us and rose again that we are forgiven and reconciled to God. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. We encourage your daughter, her husband, and your whole family to place your trust fully in Jesus as Lord and to seek Him together.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we lift up this daughter and her husband to You in the name of Jesus. You see their pain, their struggles, and the hearts of their young children. We ask You to bring deep conviction where there is sin, and grant true repentance that leads to life. Soften their hearts toward You and toward one another, and teach them to forgive as You have forgiven us. Heal the wounds that have been made by words and actions, and root out bitterness, anger, and pride. Restore love, tenderness, and faithfulness between them, and make their marriage strong and honoring to You. Protect their children and give them peace and security as they see You working in their home. Give this parent who intercedes wisdom to support without interfering, to speak truth in love, and to point them always to Christ and to Your Word. We ask that You would surround this family with godly counsel and that they would seek You daily together in prayer and in the Scriptures. We pray all these things in the saving and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently and to encourage your daughter and her husband to seek pastoral counseling together, to remain faithful to their vows, and to pursue holiness and reconciliation. With God all things are possible Matthew 19:26, and He is able to redeem and restore even what seems impossible when hearts are humbled before Him.

We hear how heavy this is to carry as a parent, watching your daughter and son-in-law in such a painful season and wanting so much for them and for your grandchildren.

Your prayer for repentance and forgiveness is a good and loving place to stay focused. In a marriage crisis those two things often move at different speeds. One is a clear decision of the will to turn toward what is right and to release resentment, and the other is the slower work of the heart catching up as hurt is honestly named and trust is rebuilt over time. It helps to keep praying for both.

One simple way we can support them without taking over is to keep asking what kind of help is actually welcome. You might let your daughter know you are praying daily for healing and wisdom for both of them, and gently ask if she and her husband would be open to sitting down with a trusted pastor or Christian counselor together. Offering practical help with the young children can also give them a little protected time to talk and seek counsel.

We are joining you in prayer for them.

Father, we lift this daughter, her husband and their children to You. We ask You to draw each heart toward repentance and toward a willingness to forgive, to give them wisdom for next steps and humble, honest conversation, and to surround those little ones with Your peace and protection. Guide this family day by day and give their mother comfort as she loves them through this. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so. Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your burden for your daughter and her husband and their young children has been brought before the Lord with prayer, and we join you in seeking divine intervention for this marriage.

We pray that the Lord will work in both hearts that true repentance which is the work of the Holy Spirit in the renewed heart. There is a carnal repentance that is of the flesh and after the manner of our sinful nature, stirred perhaps by judgment or sorrow or fear, but it does not glorify God. The repentance which God accepts gives Him glory. It stands at the Cross and sees sin forgiven in Christ and then repents more than ever, saying with tears of grief for sin and with hope at the love of Christ, I know my sins are forgiven, but now their pain to me is all the grief and anguish they laid, my Lord, on You. We ask the Lord to grant such a repentance unto life to your daughter and to her husband, a repentance that leads each to look out of self to Christ and to Christ only, a repentance that purges dead works and is followed by faith which fills the soul with living works, a practical repentance that yields works meet for repentance and that lasts, for repentance lives as long as faith.

And with repentance we plead for forgiveness. There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared. It is a divine forgiveness, for He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake. It is a surprising forgiveness, so great that God Himself speaks as if to assure doubting hearts that even the chief of sinners may have forgiveness through Jesus Christ. It is a complete and eternal forgiveness, not a partial remitting but a blotting out of the whole debt for Christ's sake, who died the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God. Whatever has been spoken or done amiss in this marriage, however deep the hurt, we point your loved ones to the certainty that there is forgiveness, and that forgiveness is to be obtained from God through His Son. Now, at this moment, there is forgiveness for all who with a penitent heart desire it and put their trust in Christ.

We pray also that as they receive forgiveness from God for Christ's sake, they may learn that joint work of mutual forgiveness in the home, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven us. For some this is not natural, but grace makes it possible, and where there has been so much forgiveness received, to forgive ought to become as natural as to open the hand.

We ask the Lord to restore purity of heart and to renew a right spirit within them, to bring down every proud thought, to lead them to own their faults before God and before one another, to turn from present sin because of the love of God who died for them, and to build up what repentance has pulled down. We pray for protection and peace for the young children, that they may be sheltered in this storm and see in their parents a picture of Christ's love for His people.

May the Lord in mercy hear, may He bring reconciliation where it is according to His will, and above all may He bring each heart into a right relation to Himself through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we are saved. We will continue to remember this family before the throne, asking that tears of repentance may become a rainbow of hope as they look to the finished work of Christ.
