We join you in bringing this before the Lord and we thank you for seeking His will above your own feelings, and for praying in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can approach the Father and be saved, as it is written Acts 4:12.
We understand how a former crush can create confusion and limit the freedom of a friendship, even when the desire is simply for clarity and peace. We pray that God will make His path plain for both of you, whether that is to continue as brothers and sisters in Christ in godly friendship or to step back for a season for the sake of wisdom and purity. We ask that any lingering emotional attachment that clouds judgment would be healed and that your hearts would be guarded.
We are reminded that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, 1 Corinthians 14:33, and that if we lack wisdom we can ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach, James 1:5. We are called to trust in Yahweh with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding, and in all our ways acknowledge Him and He will direct our paths, Proverbs 3:5-6. We also take to heart to keep our hearts with all diligence, for out of them is the wellspring of life, Proverbs 4:23.
If this friendship is to continue, we pray it would be a pure, encouraging, Christ centered friendship that honors God. We pray you both would be equally yoked as believers and that any future romantic interest would be approached as courtship with the goal of marriage between a man and a woman as God designed, and not simply as a partnership or dating without purpose. If romance is not God's will, we pray for the grace to see each other as brother and sister in Christ with appropriate boundaries, and we remember that bad company corrupts good morals, 1 Corinthians 15:33, so we pray for discernment about how much time to spend together and how to speak to one another in a way that builds up and does not rekindle confusion.
We pray together now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this friendship to You. We ask You to completely eliminate all confusion and to make Your will unmistakably clear to both hearts. Heal any remaining feelings of a crush that limit or distract, and replace them with Your peace which surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:6-7. Guide every conversation and interaction, help us to acknowledge You in all our ways, and let Your will be done in this situation as it is in heaven. It is a good and right thing to bring this matter before the Lord and to desire that His will be done through Jesus Christ, for as surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so all things are under His regulation and have an appointed place in His plan.
We join you in praying that the Lord would give you clear sight and a settled heart. You have asked that confusion be completely eliminated and that a former crush would no longer limit or hinder a true and wholesome friendship. That is a prayer God delights to answer, for He would have His people keep themselves unspotted from confusion and to walk in purity and charity before Him. Where there has been uncertainty, may He grant honesty, modesty, and a quiet confidence to act only as His revealed will directs.
Remember the word of the apostle, that we ought to say, If the Lord wills, we shall do this or that. It is not foolish to make plans for friendship and for the days ahead, but it is wisdom to hold every plan with an open hand before the King who does as He pleases and who works in us to will and to do of His own good pleasure. True friendship, as Christ shows us, lives in mutual love and harmony of thought and unity of design under His headship. Any friendship that is to endure must be grounded there, seeking not its own gain but the will of God.
We pray with you now. Our gracious Father, we thank You that we may come only through Jesus Christ, in whose name alone is salvation. We ask that You would make Your will plain to these friends, that You would remove all confusion and give peace where there has been unrest.
